Title: Late Season Blacktail
Post by: StanM on November 22, 2009, 11:13:00 AM
Shot this guy opening morning.  Was in a treestand for a couple of hours and didn't see anything so I got down and still hunted the edge of the timber.  Saw him trailing a doe and she passed by me at 20 yards or so and lead him right past me.  Shot with my 53# River's Edge recurve, a Wal-Mart carbon arrow and a Woodsman head on a 100 grain steel insert.

Good luck to all.

Stan

Nice Buck. I've always thought that  pics. of a blacktail buck are so cool. Their antlers have that nice chocolate color and the color of their face makes for a great picture.

Beautiful Buck. Congrats

Great buck Stan! Congratulations.      :clapper:

I was only able to get out for a couple of hours yesterday and seen a nice fat doe but, no bucks. I spooked her on my way to the area I hunt on the other side of Lebanon.

Stan,

That is a great blacktail. Do you have a side profile pic of him also ? I have had my trali cam out in my BT spot but seem to be getting more elk than deer pics. Congrats on a very nice deer.          :jumper:    :jumper:

Blacktails are probably the most attractive of all species. Dark, mahogany rich antlers and their black markings. You did good!

Very nice buck. I had a nice buck come in behind me yesterday. I wish I had been turned a quarter turn to the left on the tree. I would have seen him coming.

That was at 8:00 am and I sat til dark with no other sightings, but ended up bumpin a doe and a yearling on the way out.

A friend of mine missed a buck and he was a half mile away. I moved to another spot tonight and had 3 does come in at 30 yards and then continue on right to my buddies stand, but he is looking for bucks.

Congrats again.

Paul

Wonderful buck and a great photo, tongue where it belongs, not blood everywhere or you sitting 10 yards behind the animal which shows respect for the game.  Well done looking forward to seeing your web site.
