I'd like to thank Marty McMahon for donating last years hunt and Michael Langehans for being the winner with his generous donation. Also Michael barley missed winning again this year, so thanks to Ken Gettman for his generous donation for this year's auction. And thanks to Les Heilakka for his efforts during not only Michael's hunt, but this weekend as well.
I'd also like to thank John and Larry of A&H Archery for sending me a prototype boy to shoot, test, and hunt with. I've enjoyed my time with the bow, and it is really quiet and dead in the hand. Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Back to Marty. This fellow is one great camp host let me tell ya. He really gets worried if his guests don't get a chance at a hog.....and really don't like it when you don't see one during an outing. Also, he really knows how to set a stand. Looking around while in one of his stands and no telling what you will see besides the stand, but notice the whole set up, sun, wind, cover, comfort, and sometimes things you don't even see, or might not notice if you didn't look close.
I got to noticing yesterday afternoon that he had used a ratchet strap to bring two trees closer together, and had used bungee cords to hold other separate limbs in between those two trees. All that effort was to insure that there was plenty of back drop to keep the hunter from being sky lined. He don't miss a trick.
Anyhow, I had some buiz down in West Palm and I asked Marty if I could meet up with him to pick up the 3 hogs I had killed earlier this year that were processed in his home town. Mary was kind enough to hold them in one of his freezers for me till I could get back down. When I told him of my plans, he said "Why don't you come down and lets do a little scouting for Ken". Well, he didn't have to ask me twice.
Friday night was quiet, and I did hear hogs but didn't see any. Marty was already worrying at supper time. He can't help it. Its just him being him. I like that.
Saturday was pretty eventful. We both saw plenty of hogs from daylight, uh, before daylight, till 2:30 while stand hunting, walking, and from the marsh buggy. Nothing worked out on the hogs but Marty got a doe pretty early that morning.
Marty put me in a stand last night that I would call a 'Death Trap'. Its a tight little area with good shot opportunities, and you seem to be hiding in plain sight. Critters really don't have time to see you till its too late. I love hunting out of those type stands.
It was pretty quiet for me, except for Marty's text that he drilled a nice sized eating sow, until 5:20 when I saw a wild black and orange spotted boar coming straight to me. He milled around a bit and I considered shooing him if nothing else showed soon as he had a lot of character and looked like a carnival clown. After about a minute of watching him in range I saw movement from the same exact direction, but all I could see was HEAD!
Once he turned to my right I could see how tall he was and I got a profile of his block head. No way would I'd pass him up 1st shot he offered. It didn't take long. The 'Death Trap' was sprung.
Gonna work on some pics now....be back in a bit.

Holy smokes what a couple of hogs!!!!
Nice shooting too!
-
SWEET
-
Congrats nice hogs,thanks for sharing.
-
Very interesting how Marty's camo reacts to the flash.
-
Yes I think Marty agonizes over his hunting ensemble
-
Terry, why don't you shoot that big hog in the heart next time?
-
New A&H prototype must have come with the accuracy package. I know you are a good shot, but dead center in the heart???!!! Way to go T
-
Nice pigs!
-
Wow, Nice to see better pix of your hog bud, the cell phone pic didn't do him justice!
Cool to see a pick of Marty's nice sow as well... I believe the text was..."Marty for sure just killed a sow"...very cool!
Marty's such a good host, he even let you shoot a bigger hog than him
-
X marks the spot. Great shooting and hogs.
-
Guru- I don't shoot those stinky 'ole boar hogs- those are for my guests! I prefer young and tender hogs for the table! That boar hog is so tuff- you couldn't stick a fork in it's gravy.
Terry made a great shot and he knew where he hit it! That's a lot better than some guys who come visit me! You know who you are.
I want to take a second and thank Pete Heilakka for that bow in my hand! He made it for me and gave it to me on his last trip down here hunting with his brother Les. He calls it " Peanut Master" after my trail dog. Course the way Terry shot we didn't need Peanut! I had no idea about the bow, but he did a build along of it on another forum here- pretty neat. I have killed 3 animals with it in a weeks time! think I'll carry it next weekend too!
Hogdancer- you make me blush.
-
Nice hog Terry.
-
love seein those hogs, thanks for the pics!!!!
-
BTW Marty, do you have business contact info, you know in case a guy wanted to come visit?
thanks alot, Dan
-

-
Sorry Dan, not a business, just plain fun.
-
Great Hog Terry! Congrats!!
-
"some guys who come visit me" wonder who that could be ?
probably Joey !
-
Couldn't you find a bigger one Terry??? :biglaugh:
Well done, and good shooting!
-
No worries Marty, Probably best to keep it that way, just thought I'd check.
-
Watch Terry do his happy dance.
All in good fun my friend.

Well-done, Terry and Marty!
-
Terry & Marty ... Thats an awsome scouting report, two nice looking hogs. I can't wait to join you Marty for the St Judes hunt. Hopefully I'll be as good with my ACS as you are, very nice shot. It has been in the 20's here all week so some Florida sunshine will be most welcome... Happy Holidays to all :jumper: :jumper:
-
Nice shooting guys.....
-
Now that is funny!!!! Roff......
-
Geez Marty, I didn't think Terry would ever kill that nasty old boar hog. If he knew how much money you spent feeding that thing he woulda shot it a long time ago!
-
Well done guys!
-
:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: Ooops a bit of wee just came out.
Congrats Tarz, that's a beauty of a hawg & a heckuva shot!
-
-
Too Funny Les.....I saw Bill O'Reiley do that on his show last week....I was going to do that to my girls this week...now I can be reminded.
Biggie, it only took me two trips....as I've only been there twice...and I had to clear out some of the smaller ones last time remember? I had to let Michael have the biggest as he was the winner. :saywhat:
Not sure what he weighted, ...Marty estimated 225 to 250. He also said if his body fit into his head we wouln't have been able to get him on the buggy. :help:
-
Absolutely- and I wasn't gonna use a scale and ruin a good story either!
-
great howg Terry
congrats to you both Nice shooting

Wow! What a hog!
Great shooting Terry :clapper:
-
There will never be a better host for a fun hunt than time spent with Marty McMahon. I always relish every minute spent with him. Better not ask him about the fighting weight thing though :>)
Way to go Terry. Another job well done.
-
congrats terry!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!
now that's a heckuva hog!
you killed the one i've been dreaming about!!
you ol' spoiler you!!!! :D
-
Dang Terry, thats a nice hawg. We gonna get down the SRBZ soon and try to get on em again. you need to come help us out. DB
-
Keep this thread going even if it needs some "TTT"s. Marty told me his dream was to have a thread about him going over 100 posts. BW
-
LOL, thats cool Barry, I tell you what. I hear Marty is a good cook. I'll challenge him to a 2 man team camp cook off. My team will be me and Cory Mattson. I'll be the dish washer LOL. Don
-
OK Gene...forget I said it :(
Half-way there Uncle B :clapper:
-
Dear Batman- I taught Cory how to cook! Ask him!
Dear Barry- I'll never tell you another secret- Leaky Lips.
-
Hey Terry would that be called pumpkin nuts?.... can't wait so the pic's from Ken's hunt.
-
Way to go gents. Way to go!
I will vouch for Martys cooking. As for the camp hosting I was good right up till I saw the happy dance. If I ever see a disco ball and flashlight come out at nightI am running for the swamps! I'll take my chances with the skeeters!
Marty you are most welcome. You have no idea how special it is that you have been successful with Peanut Master!
pete
-
of course we can keep it going ! anything for Marty, he is such a great guy ! :notworthy:
-
no doubt about it. Marty is one of the best
-
If he can't get a hundred posts off that video, it can't be done :saywhat:
-
Gene: Time to post the song you wrote about Marty while on stand last week. bw
-
Great job guys! I'm leaving in about 30 minutes to try and get me one with my new bow!
-
Those video's are hilarious!!! My Dad and son were also crackin' up watching them....too funny!!!!
:clapper:
-
Too Funny Barry!
Hey, videos?....what videos?....I don't need to miss any videos!!!
-
TTT for Marty
-
Terry,
Last post on page 3 for the video...seems like somebody snuck one of those fancy phones that take video into camp one day!
Wasn't there a post a while ago; "Marty McMahon LEGEND"? That would surely be over 100 posts.
-
Great Job !!! These hogs may be a farmers nightmare but coast to coast a hunters blessing :)
-
Great Host, Great Guide, Great Cook, Great Person.
So one day when Terry and my Brother Pete were down and it was a bit slow at the camp. Marty decided to teach these boys some of his special moves.
Watch.
(http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii45/heilakka/th_breakdance-1.jpg) (http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii45/heilakka/?action=view¤t=breakdance-1.flv)
-
TTT........for Marty
Per Barry's instructions.
Nice hogs! Terry, the one you shot is a brute!
I would love to go on a hog hunting in the very near future. It looks like a blast.
I was hoping to go on the twins Pig Gig, but it was not in the budget this year. I spent to much on my elk hunt.
-
That Smarty Marty is a man with some moves. Let's hurry up and reach 100 so we all can go home.
-
For the record- I NEVER said a word about the number of posts!!!!!!!!!!! Those Wensel boys are smarty pants some times.
I will say that Gene holds the record at my camp- 5 hogs shot and killed at one sit- all dropping within 80yds of the stand. Hogdancer isn't far behind with 3. Biggie kilt 3 once and said never again cause I didn't help him clean 'em-but I had to prepare that gourmet meal or face his wrath! Barry shot a few, but the buzzards got one before we did-within a half hour!
This thread will end soon, cause it's common knowledge I am a thread killer. There's a challenge there between Joe Buck and I. I think he ends more threads than I do for sure!
You can go home now John V!
-
Marty,
You have a LONG way to go to get to Joey's level...as a thread killer that is ;)
Where we at, did we get to 80 yet?
-
Nice hog Terry. You are the man.
-
That new vid really fits Marty's style! Not sure about the bearded one though. Looks kind of out of place if you know what I mean.
and Marty, you aren't a thread killer... You a Hog Killin Machine!
on a good day... when the wind is right... and the feeders are full... and the buggy starts... and Peanut is in a good mood... and the moon phase is good... and Jupiter aligns with Mars... and the tide is slack... and

I think it may be time to decorate this here camp with a Christmas tree. So off to the woods.

Blocker hog was packin, LOL , Merry Christmas and congrats!!! Marco
-
I'm bringing more arrows next time !
-
Great Hog Terry and nice dance moves too! LOL
-
Good lookin hogs! Very healthy!
-
78 :D
Seriously, I am jealous of all you guys that have hogs to hunt all the time. I used to think Michigan was great; other than family it is pretty much the bottom of the barrel :(
Boar hogs are different than boars, right? They've had their nuggets lopped off as piglets? Is that right?
-
Good porker TG. Good shot too.
-
Steve-O: There are boars and sow boars... just like there are bucks and doe bucks. bw
-

So where is the song.
-
Hmmmmm.
I could have sworn some old guy from Florida, or Iowa, or maybe it was Texas, was telling me they would go around and catch some piglets and denut them so they would put all their energy into growing not fighting. I know I am pretty gullible and easy to mess with but that kinda made sense--like a steer. I thought they called 'em "boar hogs". That rear end picture of Terry's hog didn't look "normal" to me
-
Bar hogs.......I don't know where the term comes from but once you nut a boar, you can call him/her anything you want to I guess.
Marty, we're trying to get you ovver the top!
-
Bar........row. Barrow is a castrated boar.
-
Nice couple of hogs, too.
Congrats.
-
Steve, Actually Terry's hogs rear-end shot is quite normal. Boar hogs are just "gifted" in that department  :goldtooth:
Keep'er goin'....15 more :D .
-
TTT for Marty. Way to go guys. Nice hogs.
-
OK, thanks guys. At least we are making the quest for 100 educational for one slightly challenged northerner.
Maybe it's the accent that got me :D
-
We call em Bar hogs, cause we remove the "O"'s ! So watch it Steve O.
-
At least we have one edumacated guy on here...Thanks Martin :-)
-
We offer all shapes and sizes and colors

We even get some pros hunting here with us.

Plus you never know what else may show up.
Camp life with Marty is a real treat

Too funny this thread is...those vids are hilarious!!!
Thanks for the posts guys....I can't wait for the St Judes hunt now...reminds me...gotta meet with Carmen about dates.
-
Another happy visitor to the camp. My brother has almost given up hunting whitetails due to his hog addiction.
-
95 :D
Whatever Marty wants, Marty gets...
Actually it would be better if he started his own thread to go to 100...I am sure just between Gene, Barry, Biggie, and Whitey Mitten, they could do 300 posts with stories about their favorite "guide" :saywhat:
That would be great for us that have to deal with cabin fever later this winter
-
I SMELL BLOOD !! bw
-
Okay.. a bribe.. a free copy of my new book "Once Upon A Tine" to whoever posts #100. BW
-
that ought to get folks moving !!
-
Nice offer BW. Next guy gal gets it.
-
we there yet ?
we must have posted at about the same time. I am going to buy a couple books anyway so give it to the next guy. But I am happy to make Marty's dream come true !
-
Yep...looks like you are the winner Thomas.
Hey,...here'a blood trailing memory for ya.
Marty and I were on the trail immediately, and as we entered the cypress swamp Marty stops at some blood high on some palmettos on the right side of the blood trail. He looks back at me and says 'I thought you said you shot it on the left side'...I said 'I did'...he then followed up with 'Dang....that's awfully high for an exit wound'....and I said, 'I told ya he was a man'.
Ok...for some reason I think Thomas already has a book on order. :saywhat:
-
yes but I would'nt have passed if I would have known you would be next HA! Merry Christmas buddy ! :jumper:
-
Way to go Marty over 100.
-
Even though I didn't really ask for it- Thanks for the postings guys. We do have fun and I am blessed to have such a neat hunting lease.
I can top Barry though as I am feeling Christmas like- Whoever gets the 200th post can come spend the weekend with me- you gotta get here- I'll do the rest, and I'll do my best to put you on a hog. Also has to be in April- I am obligated til then. Merry Christmas. (ttt-doesn't count)
-
WOW, what a "bighearted" guy !
Did'nt ask for the first 100 but offering a bribe for the 2nd hundred posts? Sounds good, I'll get us started.
wait was'nt there another "bighearted" guy on here ? even a thread about it if I remember right...HHHMMMMM
-
That sure is worth keeping this thread alive.
-
Okay.. so who gets the book Thomas or Terry? Why do I have the feeling people will cry foul since Terry has the controls on this website? Ha. I don't want any hard feelings so I'll send you both a new book. Marty.. that's really nice of you. See, I told you folks he was a great guy. BW
-
Barry and Thomas....I've got one already coming, so no need to send me another.
Aint gonna be any hard fellings for sure. :campfire:
It's Thomas's as he was 200.
-
The guy that could buy Simon & Shuster and get all the books he wants wins the freebie....where is the justice in this world.
That's funny Marty....good way to get it to 200 but a bit transparent............
His wife has the body of a 25 year old yet he's starving for attention. Hah!
-
200?
I can do 200 MYSELF and I've only met Marty once. I don't want to see any cherrypicking either...
-
Marty, ever get any trail cam photos of Biggie or the twins under the feeders???
-
:biglaugh:
-
Keep it going. I have my copy of BW's book coming but I sure would like to go to Marty's and hunt hogs. Maybe Biggie would give me some pointers.
-
Biggie- it's not about me -it's about the Christmas season. Cut a guy some slack!!!!!! Better watch it- Ruth Ann could whip the tar outta both of us! Just like Hogdancer said- there once was a thread about a guy with a big heart- musta meant belly!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha! Santa Claus of course!
-
Biggie calling in more food...

You make nice looking bows!
What's with that double long arrow?
Why is it fletched twice? Are you having flight problems?!
:biglaugh:
-
Terry, do you know how long it takes to get a pizza delivery out there??
I wass surprised that Marty's pig catching thread only pulled 3 pages of posts, this one is up to nine pages already. Oh yeah, this is TERRY"S THREAD, not Marty's!
Now I get it!!
Anyways, the more guys get to know Marty, the more guys will love him like we do. He's pretty special.
-
lets see the bow!!
-
This is pretty depressing; I'm going to be driving all day today and will not be able to watch for post 200 like a vulture
I'm going to have to call Whitey and get him to register and add some classic Marty video.
-
BK I was having a spine issue. I posted the problem here and every one said I should make the arrow longer. I just did it the easiest way I knew how.

Seventy more posts and somebody gets a free new bow and a free hog hunt with Marty The Man. bw
-
Now that is just awesome!
-
Barry you should kick in and be there for the winners hunt!!!
-
How about a few stories about our buddy Marty for guys who don't really know him? We were in a seafood restaurant one time. The waitress gave us a few minutes to study the menu before coming back to take our orders. Without thinking, our old buddy Marty innocently asked "How's the snapper?" You could've heard a pin drop......
-
Hi, Gene! or hygene?
-
well....am i close to the magic number???? thats alot of bacon!!!
-
who likes bacon.
-
This is amazing. What a change it would be from hunting in Maine.
-
What was prototype about this bow?
-
Nice hogs. Great guesture I am #156 right now.
-
looks like a great time. some day I hope I can save enough to try hog hunting.

Great stories and nice hog. The folks here never cease to amaze me with their generosity and comraderie

Smarty Marty- I like that. Marty if I ever make it down there I think we'd be laughing so hard there'd be nothin' killed!
Marty,Barry, Biggie and I and a couple other guys spent a week with Eldon Jandreau chasin' bears: it was without question THE BEST TRIP I've ever been on- and I didn't drop a string on anything! The company made it worth the effort gettin' up there and back, without question I lost five pounds laughing all week.
-
Now I am # 161
-
I think that it would be fun hunting hogs in a swamp.
-
Good story. Very nice hog.
-
me too, 165
-
Naw Mike, you are 164 I am 165 now,LOL.
-

In that crowd, Ray, you sure the weight loss wasn't caused by a conspiracy? I mean, maybe they had you laughin and each time you closed your eyes to laugh hard, either BW or Biggie snitched something off'n yer plate!? :knothead:  :D
-
Les,
That bow you had up here a couple of years ago was made by Pete, wasn't it?
Kevin
-
So where are we now for posts?
-
This should be #169.
-
the counter says 154
-
OK, I must have missed the counter feature. Once I took my shoes off, things got a little hazy. Where's the counter??
-
it says how many posts are here on the pow wow home page.
-
Oh.... howcome I never noticed that??? Must be slipping in my middle age.
-

Who would steal food Ha ha
-
this is post # 175 on this thread, that is what counts,LOL. Each page has 15 posts on it, now on the 11th page.
-
Danny I think your math is a little off. Here is to help making a happy hog hunter a little sooner.
-
So who is right, there are 15 posts on each page, so that makes this page 165-180, but the counter on the powwow says less then that?
-
and even a little sooner no less!!! Great opportunity of generousity...
-
What was different about that A&H
-
#180 now
-
My math is correct. This should be Page 12 and the first post on that page so #181. Not sure what is with the reply counter.
-
11*15=165
so I think that this would be 166
-
12*15=180, so 183
-
168 right now counting mine.
-
you guys are good at math ;)
-
Terry What was different about the ACS bow that you used on this hunt.
-
Yep, the 12th complete page would be 180. But there are a few TTTs that don't count. There will be a mad flurry of posts here soon.
-

Heck if I know Randy....we'll have to ask John Havard. Something about the limbs I think...something they working on.
Sort of like my car, I don't know whats under the all the sheet metal, I just know how to drive it. ;)
-
Looks like an awesome spot to hunt.
-
Dang Terry, ya trying to torture us?? It got up to 12* here today and is already back down to 6.8F. I'd even take skeeters and blackflies right now for a break. Gotta get moved back to Dixie sometime soon.
-
OK...if the TTTs dont' count like Marty said...he'll have to figure it out HA! :biglaugh:
-
Terry were those pics the place you killed that massive headed hog? looks pretty inviting...
-
Here's my contribution to the post count.
Will be interesting with the lurking and sniping.
This will be fun to watch.
-
Yep, sure does.
AA
-
Terry you surely do know how to drive it. As do you most any stick you pick up. I have seen that first hand.
-
It does look like a fun place to hunt.
-
Well heck I been up since midnight here and it is 0745 now so my math was flawed a bit so now 184
-
Yep...those pics are of Marty's lease...
I'm steppin out now.....
-
Gotta be getting close!
-
Thank for a great opportunity.
-
WOW....that was my 666 post.....lets do this one again......phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.....

-
Really going now.....
-

-
Here is my entry for this fine offer.
-
Me neither. April is still chilly up here, it would be good to have an excuse to head down there.
-
Are we there yet?
AA
-
this will be a great hunt for someone.
-

-

196 according to my count.
-
Heck Danny, ain't Guam warm?? I'll swap with ya until April or so.
-
page 14 ended with post #210
-
OK, still swap locations with you. What's there to hunt in Guam?
-
You all tell me who won- I'm not gettin in the middle of all that!
-
Who is the lucky pig?
-
I think it was Ferret. I've felt those Wyoming winds, he'll need a break about then.
-
I know who's name is on the site counter at 200.
Marty...you gotta make the call if any posts don't count and how many. Not sure if there were any TTTs after you said no TTTs or not.
-
Well did you find out who won?
-

-
Way to go dude. :clapper:
-
Congrats Ferret! Hope you have a blast!!!
-
Congrats. Good luck on the hunt.
-
Congrats FerretWYO! Be sure to let us know how it is and take plenty of pics.
-
Thanks Terry and Marty. I have read several hog hunts on here that Marty put on they all look like a blast.
-
That should help you get over missing the Solana Hunt (which I hope to attend someday). Congrats.
-
Congrats Randy! Can you say Poetic Justice!
For those of you that don't know, Randy had to cancel his Tradgang Solana Hunt this year because our Uncle Sam needed him worse than we did.
It's also good to see someone win that has the majority of their posts outside of the giveaway threads.......
-
Congratulations Randy. Look forward to meeting you in April..
-
Never took a Ferret huntin before!
-
COngratulations! Looks like a great place.
-
I have taken my ferret hunting a few times. Though my ferret is a pronghorn ha ha.
Thanks for everything Marty.
-
A big hand to Marty!!! :clapper: :clapper:
Congrats to you as well Ferret, look forward to the stories and pics from what will no doubt be a memorable hunt!!
-
I was thinking the same thing Bob.
Congrats Randy!!!
-
Congrats Ferret, and  to Marty.
-
Wow! Nice shooting. That hog was so big I could not see the prototype A&H :scared:
-
Good deal Randy ! Marty, you will enjoy Randy in camp, he's a good guy !
-
Randy, I'll get hold of you after the Holidays- Merry Christmas Early!!!!!!!
-
Ferret,
We Gotta Talk! From what I see you are the poor sucker :bigsmyl: , ahhh, I mean LUCKY WINNER that I am going to be building one of my recurves for. :D
In a nutshell,
The bow that I build is 58" groove to groove. The bow is designed to be fast aiming and blind friendly. Those who have shot them seem to like them.
IF you look at my avatar you will see what the bow looks like when drawn to a full 30 inches.
Here are a few more shots of a couple that I have made. The bow design was modified from a bow that metsastaja bought and had shipped to my house so he could pick it up on his way home. The original designer was Elmer Patton. I made a few slight modifications to the bow.

Yeah....good on Marty and Pete. This is what makes Trad Gang Trad Gang. Not only to you get a free hunt, but a free bow to hunt with.
Pete and Marty - :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
-
Ferret WY.....what poundage bow are you going to get and what arrow length, point weight, wood or carbon? Can't have you going off to a hog hunt with a new bow and old arrows. Let me know and I'll get you fixed up with some new hog arrows.
-
A message to Pete and Randy.
Since I hooked Pete into doing the bow build and
said I would cover the material cost.
I want you both to know any woods (native or exotic) are in the mix.
Have fun and I look forward to the bow build.
Pete are you going to ship me the bow or do I have to budget for an airplane ticket and feeding you for the weekend.
-
I knew I would be foiled again...but a guy has got to work (thank goodness)!
At least on of the "good" guys got it  . I always look forward to what giant elk Randy kills this year.
Marty, you making any PBS donations? Not that I will ever be able to outbid "Deep Pockets" Hoffman
Oh, are you putting up the swamp buggy if we get to 300 for you?
Merry Christmas everyone.
-
Steve, Steve, Steve, had you made your bid IN PERSON, and I knew who was bidding against me, I would gladly have let you "win" that osceola hunt. I heard you were intimidated by Marty's celebrity.........
-
I knew nothing of a bow included and all those nice things that were said. I dont know what to say. You guys are the best of the best. Marty and gang I look forward to meeting you.
-
Yeah Randy....really glad I killed Block Head now, look what a stir he caused.
Aint that something. :campfire:
-
That he did Terry. :campfire:
-
Randy just so you know there are bigger ones then "Blockhead". We will just have to wait and see if Marty can put you on them. I do have a sweet Pig Pit with a platform. This video will give you an idea..
Here is Pete working the kinks out so we could do some modifications. There is now a carry in swivel seat.

-
I have always wanted to meet you biggie.
-
Too Bad Biggie has to work that weekend!!! :bigsmyl:
Les Love to be there if possible! You know that!
Randy, You saw what Les said a few posts ago about the woods so start looking!
Now What do we have to do to get to 300 for the old thread killer?
pete
-
"The Godfather" wanted me to post this picture to show the kind of hogs Marty has down there...I'm pretty sure it isn't photoshopped since he can't run the computer good enough to post his own pictures :biglaugh:
AND
One thing I've wanted to do for quite a while is to meet Biggie in person too. ANOTHER reason to look forward to the PBS banquet in March.
-
Lets not forget Sunny Hill's fine hog
(http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii45/heilakka/2009/DSCN3321.jpg)
-
 :jumper:

I shot a few down there as well, it's a great spot. and I know it's been said before but Marty is a great host !
-
Those are some really nice oinkers ... Sunny Hill did not give up the 2009 St Judes hunt easily, it was a battle down to the last millisecond so I know he had a great time in 2008. This is going to be FUN and I look forward to meeting everyone involved. Thanks again Marty!
-
I've killed a bunch of down there, woulda killed more but my guide won't help me skin 'em

now were talking Biggie ! some real hogs there !
-
That looks like a lot of fun.
-
Wow!!
Who are the 3 strapping young lads in that 2nd to last pic?
I recognise everyone else....
-
Martys son Michael, the marine, His son Patrick and his son in law Daniel
-
Better known as "Marty's Muscle". Getting those 50 lb bags into the feeder is a lot of work.
Randy and Pete just got word from Marty. He just took a nice doe with "Peanut Master" the bow Pete built for him.
-
Here's a few more....notice I don't stand 4' behind mine to make them look bigger like a certain bigshot whitetail hunter does a few posts back...

Nobody shot anything today?
I hear you all (sp) are preparing for another yankee invasion?!
-
This Yankee is looking forward to my next trek in to the swamp for sure! Life just gets no better! The company and the hunting are superb! There is no better breakfast on the east coast of this hear great nation than the one that Marty "throws" together.
pete
-
Rumor has it that there is a fella name of Guru that has invaded our fine state! Might that be the yankee you are refering at Mr. Osceola? He has made contact and he will be spending New Year's Eve with Biggie and I at the hog spot! We're gonna try and fatten him up!
Speakin of Osceola's- it's gonna kill him to see all our birds with no permission to shoot at one!
Joe Buck would kill me if'n he lost his first team turkey spot!!!!
-
Spending New Years hunting with Marty and Biggie, who's luckier than me! I know I've told you too many times already, but,Thanx again buddy!
I'm fat enough! I'll be running every day in an effort to lose a little before arriving in camp :campfire:
I'll hold back on the birds,I promise....won't be easy though! I wouldn't want Joey mad at me :goldtooth:
Keep posting pix guys!!!!
-
I think you guys need more northerners down there (maybe Terry could put a butt kissing little gremlin guy on here for me to insert here).
You know, if Biggie would have posted his pictures one at a time, we could be over 300 posts by now :saywhat:
-
Curt is in Florida for new years this promises to be a great story

:campfire:
Christmas with my wife and kids at the in-laws....then New Years with Marty and Biggie....what more could a guy ask for :jumper:

Biggie, It'll be my pleasure to drag out as many as you can shoot! Of couse with the look of that buggy it doesn'y look like there's a whole lot'a draggin' involved :scared:
Man I can't wait to get to camp!!

You guys still posting???? Ok, I'll offer up another pic that sums up Marty's camp.....
Good friends, good times, and plenty of critters......

Wow, Approaching 300 and it is all about the thread killer MARTY!
My bet on the high arrow in the palm was a muffed head shot at one of them Osceolas! Oh do leave the birds alone. Why you might ask...

Les, Are those bowkilled birds?!!!
That Montana boy needs to see some more southern sunshine...he's white as a ghost :scared: ....real cool hog and looks like a great shot!
I'm a big fan of "good dessert"
-
Curt
The first of those was supposed to be a bow kill. As we were getting in to final positions as the bird was coming in I was saying to Les "Gimme my bow, Gimme my bow" When the bird was almost there the sentance changed to "Gimme the gun!"
I wimped out and ended up pulling a trigger. The shot was all of 10 yards. The beard on the first bird was 14 inches. I will let Les tell you about the shot and the BEARDS on the second bird that he shot.
You should have seen Martys face when he saw Les' bird.
pete
-
I wonder if you took a poll of guys who have taken both the bow and the shotgun to the blind if ANYONE would say they used the bow. I've given that up with everything; every time I took both, I used the gun and regretted it afterwards. I am pretty slow, but I think I've finally gotten it through my thick skull :knothead:
-
Sorry guys, but only trad bowkilled critters allowed for pix...da rules is da rules...even for a Marty thread :(
A 14" beard??? Or was that some kind of joke played on Marty?
SteveO.. :clapper:
-
Guru, I hope you only took out the picture and not the post...we are trying to get 300 here for the ol' thread killer :readit:
-
Sorry about the non bow pictures got carried away.
FYI mine is a 5 beard with total measurement of 27.5 inches..He is mounted on the wall at home.
-
Sorry about the infringement on the rules.
pete

Wow, looks like this place is a hunters paradise. Cant wait till i get to go hunt hogs on one of Curtis Kellar's ranches here in about a month.

Awesome turkeys fellas.....you know I love seeing pix of dead turkeys, just need to keep it fair for everyone. Because next thing you know, I leave these here, then some else gets theirs removed and then it's.... "well how about this thread ,with bla, bla, bla"......you know the story...it happens....so again sorry...

Seriously; I'm really enjoying all the pictures and stories. Especially the bearded Biggie shots.

You asked for it Steve! Okay this is this years opening weekend buck- I actually shot him last year and he ran around the lease with the arrow sticking out of him for months :( . That wasn't a good feeling. I did not know it when I shot him, but the broadhead and about an inch or two of shaft were still in him! The were under his backbone and encassed in grissle. No sign of infection and completely healthy. He and I had a score to settle. I won.
When I hit him the year before-almost to the day- he hit the ground and I thought I had spined him. I reached for the kill arrow and he lept up and ran. Peanut couldn't find him and I was depressed until he was seen running around- then mixed emotions took over. Kinda like when your mother-in-law drives off a cliff, but it's in your new truck!
Maybe Les still has pics of him with the arrow sticking out.

Enjoy the Hunt.

Marty, I think that buck beats Schafer's antelope on doggedness of pursuit...one year watching and waiting trumps 27 miles. Way to stick with it
-
You can shoot deer down there until you run out of arrows.

Another good trip to see me. He's a killin machine! Peanut found the big one half alive and made it an interesting morning!

Gene killed soooo many hogs one trip- this is how I put him on the airplane!! Donna wasn't very happy with me. You all should be thankful- I had to revive him from heat stroke. It wasn't pretty!
-
Hey Marty!!!
Do you think you could post some of that wonderful sausage cooking video that I know you have. Remember when Whitey Mitten was there and you were putting him on the hogs? I would love to see that. :bigsmyl:
Then Ferrett would know just what type of host you really are!
Merry Christmas All.

I wanna see the footage again of Marty stalking and catching the live hog on film. Priceless! Who has it and can anyone post it again? UB
-
Sooooo, the 5 n 1 was just another "big fish" story after all.....hmmmmm..... ;) :biglaugh:
Marty catching a live hog.....Dang, I'd luv to see that one!
:jumper:
-
Well, I have both, but I know about as much as you Barry about puttin that on here. Whitey would be the man- maybe you can call him Barry- he won't answer my collect calls anymore.
-
Guru...it's on Tradgang somewhere. But typical of Marty, it's a small one.
I ain't buyin the 5 in one story either. I only see 4....
-
I saw the ENTIRE MArty DVD last month...I am not sure we should get Whitey in here...for Marty's sake :D
He definitely has some impressive stalking abilities. He's heck on coons too!
-
Steve O- do not believe everything you see from Whitey- he is one talented film editor!!!
-
I agree with you Steve. There are two sides to every story. Whitey being a truthful guy, did not edit out any of the commentary and footage that put Marty in line with the greatest guides and most generous hosts who couldn't take blame for the shortcomings of his guest (Whitey himself). However; at the end of the clip, being sooooo thruthfull, Whitey had to show Marty on many of is own personal hunts that weren't so flattering. Videos don't lie. Ha! Ha!

Even Joe Buck got into the action!!!

Steve O- Guess what Barry is pointing at? By the way- that Hogdancer and Bill Urban.
-
Well Biggie said the video was on TG somewhere, so went looking in the "members video" forum....
Didn't find the video with Marty catching a hog with his hands.....
But what's this all about??????

Well, from the way you asked, I bet it is a flock of Osceolas...although the way Thomas is squinting I could guess there is a "full moon" being displayed right out in front of you :scared:
-
Thanks Guru...a fella mmmmmisses one time and....

-
GOOD LUCK Curt.....and We've enjoyed this thread....

Guru- this is my favorite flavor- but we have all different color phases for you? Any preference?
-
Biggie I have missed my fair share of times as well.
Marty I thought that you said that you dont like to shoot those big ones ha ha?
-
Bud, I'm not one bit picky when it comes to color phase.....but....I've killed 5 hogs in my life(3 Fl, 2 Tx) and every one has been black....
This is the closest to some color, and it was only a bit of red thru the face.....
http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=111;t=000005
It makes no difference to me....Like Charlie Lamb once said..."just being there is good enough".....
-
He does have a red face- he must be embarassed that you kilt him! NIce hog.
Ferret- dude-that is a small one!!!!
-
Marty show him the pic of your 300#er...I can't find it...
-
That "embarresed" hog is my biggest boar hog....
Here's my biggest, a sow killed at the place I told you about Marty, near Arcadia. Looked like a black Volkswagon bug coming thru the palmettos.
How much do you guys think she weighed???
The guys I hunted with, who've been hunting hogs since they were kids, all agree'd she was right around 400#'s.
All's I know is that 2 of us could hardly move her on the ground, and 3 of us had one hell of a time getting her lifted up about 1ft. on the the carrier!
We only had to get her moved about 100yds....but man did we ever have a time!
She was as long, tip of the nose to base of tail, as my 56" 'curve...
Can I put my order in for a boar about this big :scared:
I know, I know....be careful what you wish for....
