Title: arrow stiffness??
Post by: yekrut on January 06, 2010, 07:03:00 PM
Ok alot of people seem to think my arrows are to stiff, but I beg to differ. ok there gt xt hunters cut at 28" with 225grs on the front, so you add more wieght to the front and it makes them softer, I am getting great prefomance from them they fly great , and are consistent, Now if ya look at the easton arrow chart , for my peak weight and draw length it reccomends a 400 shaft, and that is what I am using, so why would you !@#@$ change it. my draw weight is 51 lbs. I get tight groups with them and they work, so I just do not understand why others seem to think there to stiff, I am just going by what the chart says , and it says 400's so .....they fly straight and hit hard...there!!

Wish I knew man!  I'm shooting 400 trad only's and they also took 225 grains up front to soften up, out of a 59# bow.

I have to say that I used the Easton arrow chart and I also was miss informed by it.Wingnut helped me out with the Stu calculator .If you think your stuff is right on then use it it's your arrows do what you want.

What is your bow set-up?  Hard to tell from what you listed.  It sounds a little stiff for less than 28" draw, but hard to say for sure.  I have had great flight from arrows too stiff and too week with target points, and from a center cut bow.  BH's different story.  Have you shot paper, or bare shafts?

Yep ,I have shot bare shaft and they hit right with the fletched ones . I am hitting yogurt lids at 20 yrds, broadheads fly good too.

Most of the charts are starting places every one is different if they fly good and group good I wouldn't worry what someone else says, they are yours to shoot with just enjoy.

Hey, thanks that makes me feel better, you are right , who cares! I have tried many diffrent weights and stuff and thats what works. There is not much else I can do, there tuned to how I shoot and with my bow.

If everyone was the same, we wouldn't have to work to tune our gear to ourselves and our shooting styles. Use what works! If your broadheads shoot with your field points, you got it! That's the ultimate test.
