I have a Bear little Bear recurve. I bought at a garage sale 15 years ago for $2 it is in excellent shape and seved my 3 sons well as they were growing up. I know have a 14 month old grandson that I what to pass it down to in a couple more years. The problem is the string that came with it has worn out. The original string was some kind of solid woven white cord with red serving, fairly thick. I was wondering if the bow could handle a dacron b50 string? it is amo 48" pulling 20# at 24". there are NO tip overlays at all the wood appears to be maple, two lams per limb with black or dark brown glass front and back.
Thanks

It sounds alot like the Protogy that I bought for my oldest son a few years ago. I have put a B50 string on his due to wear. No problems with his.

I have also put B50 on a number of old kids wood and fiberglass bows with no problems. I usually slide those rubber finger thingys over the string so i wouldn't have to keep track of a tab/glove for them.

No issue here with using a B50 string on a Little Bear. All 3 of my kids have shot the same bow with the same string.
I have an extra string that I will give you as the one on the bow now has years of life left in it. PM me your address if you would like it.

Thanks for the offer Chris, but I have one in my tackle box, I just wasnt sure if the bow was built for it thanks to all of you for the answers. In about 18 months I will post pics of my grandson shooting it.
