Title: KME Showstoppers at Harrisburg
Post by: Sharpster on February 10, 2010, 08:13:00 AM
Hello all.   This is Jake. The KME Gang is in Harrisburg all week for the Eastern Sports Show.  We have been overwhelmed with the results of our NEW KME stones. The coarse stone has performed beyond our expectations for setting bevels on 2 blades and 3 blades both.  The response we are getting at the booth has been very encouraging.  I don't believe you even need the fine stone but it does provide the finishing touches.   I  will be doing a demo when we get back.  The weather has been a bit on the rough side but we are making it.  Hope some of you can make it out before it's over.  Stop on by the booth.

Same boat as Jack. Anybody actually showing up there at the show? Miserable conditions for the whole week. If I cannot make it up there I would like to see (video) somebody finish off the back side of a single bevel. I have heard people say you knock the bur off with cardboard? Does that mean you just stroke the back side on cardboard a couple of times? I will also be picking up a broadhead kit one way or another.

I'm in the same predicament as Jack and Frank.  I was planning on going last weekend, but the 26 inches of snow we got kept me busy shoveling.  The additional 10 we are getting right now isn't helping.  I was definitely planning on stopping by the both and making a purchase or three.  I still plan on coming this coming Saturday if the roads are passable.

Rob,

I don't think it's on the site yet... but it's pretty sexy reddish thing...

Ron,
What a hoot to mess with your mind for 15 min while you tried to figure out who was messin with ya!   :knothead:        :D

Jake,

Good to meet you, too.

These guys had enough knives lying around to make a H-burg street gang just green w/ envy! Nice collection, guys!

Can't wait to check with Carl this weekend to see if he gets to play with his 2 new red stones!

Sorry for the loss of a day, but bet you enjoyed a break from the long hours and crappy food!  :)

Anyone thinking of coming should head out.  The weather is supposed to be great and I know that several vendors are making deals because of the low turnout from the weather.  Watch here on Tradgang and on the website next week.  When we get back we'll post some pics of the "new" stuff Ron has been working on.  Jake

Went to the show today with Raineman. Sat thru the demo and purchased both the knife aharpener and the broadhead sharpener. Set me back a few bucks - but I look forward to having sharper knives and broadheads from now on.

I finally got to the show Sunday and showed up at Ron's booth about noon.  Now I have to tell you up front I have tried about every sharpening method I could find over the past 35 years or so and I had come to the conclusion that I just couldn't sharpen any broadhead.  I brought a Stinger head with me that I had worked on for over an hour with the Lansky system and showed it to Ron and he confirmed what I already knew to be true - that it just wasn't ready to hunt with.  Then he handed me the KME and took the time to walk me through the steps to use it.  He didn't just show me how he did it, he had me sharpen the Stinger I brought while he coached me through the steps.  In less than 5 minutes I had the blade honed to scary shaving sharp.  Ron took what little hair he had left on his arm and cut a big swath off with the blade I had sharpened.  He then showed me how to sharpen bleeder blades and the old Bear greenie heads that I use on occasion. To say I was impressed with the KME would be a gross understatement.  It is an absolutely incredible product and I bought the kit on the spot.  OH, his new stones are awesome by the way.

Everything the gang here has said about Ron and the KME are absolutely true.  He is a very down to earth guy and very patient instructor who makes a great product.  All you guys out there sitting on the fence about whether to get one or not - just do it!  If I can sharpen a head with this system, you can too.

Thanks Ron!

Well, made it home around 10 last night... great time but dead on my feet. Still waiting to hear that Jake made it home safe. He was heading straight into another snowstorm.

Just wanted to express our sincere thanks to everyone and let you all know that the highlight of each day was when someone would walk up and introduce themselves as a fellow TGer! When we're dealing with thousands of strangers, it's great to see a friend's face... even if it's for the very first time. You guys are the best!

Ron

WHEWWWW!!!!  Yes I made it Home.  Had about 2.5 hrs of snow through the mountains in PA but once I hit the OH line I was good.  Just like to thank everyone that stopped.  It was a great time and nice to put faces with names.  We had a good show despite the weather and 2 major Sports Happenings in 9 days.  Like Ron I am beat as well.  Gonna introduce ya'll to the new KME stones this week when I get caught back up.  Stay tuned.
