How do you ship bows to France/Insured. The post office explains use International Priority Mall, I will need to complete a form and you can not insure anything to France. I am being told that bows are being sent to France insured. How do you do this.

whatever shipping route you go, good luck. remember to pack and box very well. insurance is a must.
a word of caution for any usa folks with goods sold to offshore buyers - get and check the validity of all your payment dollars first (this includes the shipping/insurance money), then ship off the bow.

I sent a 62" LB to france insured, a few years ago. I've heard of length restrictions but not insurance, I'd call another P.O. just for the heckuvit.

Iternational Express from the USPS will allow insurance and tracking.

You need to check with the post office,I shipped a bow to France a couple of years ago.The post office won't ship anything over 42" max length Internationally,if it is shorter I would go USPS.Mine was a 70" longbow and I had to ship UPS and it was expensive,it was $122.50.He recieved it in 6 days.

I have bought something like 50 bows last year and my friends here shipped me via UPS in boxes without any problem.Most guys are scared to dead to ship oversea but the difference is the rate and a custom declaration,since the buyer is the one that pay you don't have any issue.

Rob's caution is valid......
Be wary of Paypal transactions, ESPECIALLY. ALL the recipient has to do is claim damage. Even if you've already received your payment, Paypal can debit your account.

I have shipped a few to France with USPS International and there was a max amount you could insure them for, it was less than the bow's value but I just took out the max. I used paypal with no problem. All bows I shipped were takedowns which made packaging and shipping costs fairly reasonable. You should be careful with all transactions international or domestic.

I'll second Chuck's comment. We've shipped a number of bows USPS Express International and you get tracking and can buy insurance too. Never had a problem at all, they were all take down bows though. A one piece might be a problem using USPS depending on it's size.

Yu can insure up to $650 going express or priority. If you are in a place where global express guaranteed is offered that you can insure for up to $2,499, but the over all length can't exceed 46", where express and prioirty can go up to 60". This things vary from county to county. You can calculate your own postage at usps.com and get all the insurance and size restrictions. I pulled the below as an example showing postage choices for 5 lb package to France. When you are on the usps.com website, just select calulate postate, international postage, select the country from the drop down box and then select package. You will be able to enter in the dimensions and weight of your item and select the way you want to send it and add extra services like insurance if available and it will calculate the postage. Purchase your postage online and receive a 5% discount or print the info off and be armed with information when you approach the mailing counter.

I shipped a 66 inch Longbow (one piece) to France USPS in a pvc tube no problem.
That was last fall and if I remember correctly the cost was around $55.00

It always amazes me, that some post offices ship packages even though they are longer than the max 46" and other post offices go by the rules. It happened to me, too. I just recently received boxes from the US that were definately longer than 46" through USPS. Looks like if the box made it behind the counter, it will be good to go. :-D :-D
Take Rob's advice, since some of the boxes I received looked like they were run over by a truck or forklift. One box even had tire marks on it.

Hi, my experience was from USA (seller) to Italy (me) via USPS Priority Intl Insured Mail. I have had never problems; The shipping costs are not up to 50US$. Our BIG problem is Custom Tax of 24% on declared value.
I bought 20 bows and a lot of other Archery Items from USA in the past 3 years and will buy others....

The insurence is determend by the country that is excepting it I have not shiped to france,but IT.Spain,Norway,Sweden the limit is $650.00 at USPS. USPS will ship a package longer than 60",but if the country dosen't want to except it is returned and you will not be refunded.I ship 64" all the time and it coast $55.00 up to $70.00-Norway.If it is a poor country they will not insure.Takes about 3 to 5 weeks
