John Dill and I went down to hunt a few days with my friend Cory Mattson. We had to go into town friday and decided that since we were right down the road, we would stop and visit Ray. We rode up just as he was briefing a group from In. about to go out hunting. My first time to meet Ray and visist his place. I thought we might be intruding, but no , he invited us to stay for lunch (which was worth the trip by the way) and showed us his photo album of some of the pigs and stuff that had been taken there. I recognized a few of you guys in the pic. All in all a cool place and a very nice and laid back guy. If I did'nt have a place to hunt hogs in that area, I would surely be booking with Ray for my hog hunting needs. I'll try and post a pic or two that we took later. Right now I got to go cut up some meat. later Don Batten

Hey Don, don't forget to include what bow you used. I'm wondering what butcher shop lets you and John shoot those big chunks of baloney, you are cutting up baloney aren't you? :bigsmyl:
-
Ditto to what Batman says here......Ray's one fine Georgia Gentleman!
Owlbait
Batmans got a whole cooler full of baloney from this last trip....you'll see some pics soon.
-
Ray is a first class guy.
-
Had a great time with Ray and Squirrelbait...heck i'd pay just for the entertainment value....throw in some 1st class hog hunting and i was one hampy camper.
-
John I'm jealous of you and Don. Getting time to hunt hogs and visit with Ray. I grew up on Redline Balogna and prefer the kind Don has in the cooler! Congrats.
-
Ray is a great person -- and he runs a very relaxed hunting camp there at Hog Heaven. I was just there a couple of weeks ago. The hogs didn't cooperate much -- I came home empty handed, and worn out and relaxed from a great hunt. I am already saving my nickels and dimes for a return trip.
Ray is a top notch host and a genuine gentleman.

Sure agrees with all I've always heard about Ray. Looking forward to the pictures, Don. John told me about the big "balony".
-
Was at Ray's 3 weeks ago and can't wait to get back there. Ray makes it a memorable hunt.

Not trying to rub salt in any wounds, guys...but my group this weekend did have a little luck.
They paid for a turkey hog combo but all they cared about was piggies.
I'll just tease you with a photo

Dang now thats alot BBQ, I need to get to Hog Heaven ASAP.
-
Nice hog!!!!!
-
I'm a fan of Ray as well. Great place and he works hard to let you hunt the way you want. I highly recommend him.
-
Looking forward to my trip there in May!
Lets hear the story on the meat, Don!

Here's a couple of pics of Rays place. the first is John getting ran out of the kitchen. It did'nt take Ray 5 min to know not to leave that boy alone around food.

"Thats cory and me in the back row."
Is that you and Cory in the back row? Kinda like pointing out two groupies at a Micheal Bolton concert (LOL)
Thats the man Ray in the middle with the crowd around him. I always like meeting Georgia boys......they dont get much better.

What a great time we had visiting. Ray you run an excellent camp and hunt. Crazy we are neighbors after all these years. We had some hogs run into our arrows too now - big time fun and big time food. Thanks for lunch Ray - glad you Indiana Boys got into hogs - that is a BEAUTIFUL place. Let us know when you are coming next year!
John - who is Michael Bolton ????? a friend of yours?????

Corey
he's a famous crossbow shooter- he coined the phrase " I got my bolt ON !!!
At least that's what john told me!
Good to see you too Corey!!!
-
I think Ray's right.....he shoots a crossbow and plays the mandolin.
Cory, I think he's Dons buddy(LOL) :D
-
Could be - they both (Don & MB, that is) have good singing voices - when they aren't trying to "call" hogs :D
