Well guys, Yesterday AM I shot a beautiful 3yr old Osceola tom which completes my N American turkey slam. I'm hunting near Ocala with Fred Eichler and guide Al Roberts, both of whom worked there tails off to put me on this bird. Al pulled a "rabbit out of a hat" locating my bird. Thanks Buddy!! The hit was solid, but the bird did a 180 and completely turned around on us.
I started my slam hunting Merriams with Fred in Nebraska and hunted Iowa, Kansas, and my home state of Wisconsin in my attempt to chip away at the others. It's fitting that I finished it hunting with Fred and Al. My Osceola was hands down my most difficult hunt in many respects. I'm looking ahead now and hope to start working on my Goulds and Ocellated. Someday..??? Best of luck to everyone this spring season!!!!

Washington opens the 15th and runs until the 31st of May.
We have what is called "The Washington Slam" where if you harvest a Merriam, a Rio Grande, and an Eastern the WDFW gives you a little gold pin, either "Single Season" or "Multi-Season".
The subspecies are divided by what county you harvest them in, Western Washington has the Easterns, And Merriam's are in the NE corner of the State, while the Rios are SE....
As far as I know, only one person has completed it with a bow, and nobody yet with Trad.....
When I get an Eastern, I will try for the others, but they are considered the toughest one to get (only 1.1% of harvest) and after trying for 3 years, I have only had one opportunity (so far)
