Title: Golden Arrow

I'm not a bowhunter, but my family is full of them.  My brother is interested in traditional bowhunting and turned me on to this site.  So, while I'm a flyfisherman myself, the techniques and heritage of traditional bowhunting are fascinating to me.  

I am also a goldsmith and artistic flytier, and I recently put those skills to work to a slightly different end.  This past hunting season, my father harvested his 100th whitetail deer with a bow.  I decided to honor his achievement by creating the Golden Arrow.  The shaft, point, and nock are handmade from solid 18-karat gold wire.  The fletching is made from kori bustard and Amherst pheasant.  The entire arrow is about 2-1/2 inches long.

I thought a forum of bowhunters with an affinity for fine craftsmanship might appreciate it.  I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for the opportunity to see this in all of its detail. The photography is superb. The closer I got, the more impressive the fineness of your work. Beautiful! Your father is a very lucky and very blessed man, in his days afield and with his family.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your kind words.  It is really satisfying to have my work recognized by people of your passion for handcrafted weaponry, even if my contribution is rather diminutive.  I am fortunate to have a very patient and talented photographer for a wife, and she is the one who takes the stunning macro photos - I will be sure to pass along your compliments to her.
