Thought I`d share a couple of my last outings for Swamp Roosters and pork.
I hunted a short while one morning and heard 5 Gobblers all roosted in the edge of a creek. They all flew down on the other side on property I can`t hunt.So The next morning I was there before fly down time and was planning on calling one down on my side and gaffing him and being home before 9:00. Not. Did`nt hear the first bird and I stayed till 10:00. I`m thinking my Neighbor musta messed with`m the evening before.
Not a total wash . On the way out I found a "trophy" in my Uncles Field.

Ran across a couple of hardshell possums on the way out....

Also ran into a mighty skinny feller.Harmless but will make you wet your britches if you step on him before you see`m.

Great pics as always.

The next day I headed over to the swamp for round of pig hunting. Kind of a relief from Turkey hunting. Calling a Turkey to me is like arguing with your wife. You know 95% of the time your gonna loose but you do it anyway for the sport.I like pig hunting More to be honest ..
The disrespectful porkers had the road in a mess...

Ran into this fella and he is a BAD boy.If he "fangs" you its a trip to the hospital for sure..
Saw an ancient old Cypress
(http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w39/rcswampbucket/IMG_0876.jpg)
And a natural bird bath...
Checked a Big Wallow because its getting hot down here and it was occupied. A small pig does not want to cool here...

A closer look why...

I always enjoy your outings. I happen to like snakes....a racer and a cottonmouth?
I LOVE the line about turkey hunting and arguing with your wife.
-
Great pics as always RC. Thanks for sharing them.
-
I don't think I could lie down south...theose snakes scare the life out of me just looking at the pictures! I guess I'd move a little slower though :scared:
-
good stuff as always RC.
-
Awesome RC. I guess those gators go where they need to. Talk about a predator using a natural blind!!
-
Man RC, You got the life down there! Well, except all them snakes anyways!
-
When you're walking around the woods in warm weather and the snakes are out you get pretty sneaky !!!!
-
Lol........you said it Pat!
-
Great pics, thks for sharing....

Thanks RC, always enjoy your posts and pics. Snakes give me the creeps and the gator pic in that puddle is cool.
-
WOW....so much to learn so little time...I am heading down your way soon....not sure how the plans will shape up though.
Bought some of them turtle skin pants though...J.I.C. (i know i am just a woossie....but I will be an UN-BIT woossie
THat gator knows where to be though. Is it far from the swamp...can't imagine they like to get caught out in the open much.

Awesome pics. I'm glad that there aren't to many gators where I'll be in Oklahoma. Plenty of snakes, though.
-
So nice to walk with you, RC. Truly a blessed outing.
I had to copy and paste that line to my "doodles" file, after I read it to my husband. I had to explain what caused me to guffaw like that.
-
I am enjoying my time in the swamp and among the snakes vicariously through your pics.
Thanks for sharing them.
-
Nice pics, I believe we're hunting the same place, at least it looks the same, same critters too.
-
RC, Great story and pics as usual. I always feel as if I'm walking along with you.
-
Thanks for takin' us along RC!
How long was that piglet eatin' LIZ-ZARD?
Good luck on the Toms!
Shoot straight, Shinken
-
Good stuff........how many snakes are down there, you show us some on every outing!?I thought pigs ate snakes......
-
 :clapper:
-
Thanks fellers and Ladies.
Shinken the lizard was probably 5 feet long. Not to big.
Ron W, the snakes are here. After several close calls I tend to spend a lot of time walking slow and paying attention where I`m walking. They are not hanging from every tree but this far South you gotta pay attention.Snakes are the swamps thats just the way it is.Pigs do eat them though but I`m sure prefer other stuff.
A lot of inexperienced hunters will come here and hunt and never see one. Truth is they probably were within feet off some several times and just did`nt know it.Even my Hero Biggie has been bit once I believe....snake died.RC

Snake died....now that's funny :biglaugh:
-
Nice pics as usual, what no snake boots?
-
note to self ..." dont bite biggie"
