Title: Mount back from the taxidermist!
Post by: robtattoo on June 10, 2010, 11:32:00 AM
I've just got back from the local stuffers! He calledme this morning to let me know that my Black Wildebeest (the one in my avatar) was finished!

And a not-very-flattering shot for scale....

How cool is this? Way! Man!

What a view! That wildebeest looks like it found a mate in your last photo. Is a license required to keep one live in your home?...lol

God bless,Mudd

You know, with those dark brown eyes and hairy chin, she sure looks like a girl I dated back in the 1970s.  Crazy days, those 70s!!
Great mount, Rob.

Those are neat looking critters (the wildebeest that is).  Always looks like someone put the horns on backwards to me.

If that is a forced air duct behind him I'd keep an eye on things.  If it's AC only you'll have a lot of dust build up on your mount, if there is forced air heating through that duct I'd move the mount - the hot air isn't good for it.

That is an amazing mount, do you have the story on here somewhere?

Is that hunt on the Tradgang dvd?

Did you get to eat any of the meat?

Thanks! I put the story on The Dark Continent forum (I belive the title is 'Back from Namibia')

No video for me. I get mirror shy, nevermind cameras!

I never did get eat it. All the meat gets split between the trackers/skinners & the outfitter's shop.

Nice looking mount!

I'd like one of those some day...that at believe it or not a Red Hartebeest would be on my short list if I ever get to jump the pond to hunt.

Beautiful animal Rob , I think they are one of the neatest animals , beautiful manes and long tails and can run like the wind . And Josh I know what you mean about the Hartebeest , they look kinda like a Dr. Suess animal but I like them anyway . Fred

They did a nice job on the mount. You can almost hear the thundering hooves of the herd. I guess that's why you get them mounted, kinda puts ya back in Africa. Congrats!

Thanks Mike! A guy called Tony Walls at W W Taxidermy in Decherd TN. He mainly does Turkeys & Whitetail, but he'll turn his hand to about anything. Very reasonable too!
