Set out to check on this area I discovered a month ago. Wanted to see if the activity I first came across was still there. You decide. :D
Heading in.

I'd say the activity was still happening.

This trail is like an interstate or something! My heart just got excited when I found this last month. And to see that it is still looking good, well, August is going to be a blast! :biglaugh:

Right near this spot is where I'll be hanging my stand. There were literally a hundred deer tracks all over. I got out before leaving to much human trace behind. Just to play it safe.

Found a great area to whack some pesky stumps and spent an hour taking them down!

Thanks for joining me on my tour of the beautiful Pacific North West! :wavey:
-
I always liked that area. My wife and I are considering moving back to the Pacific Northwest in a few years. What are your seasons and bag limits? I'm guessing you have tons of blacktail and elk around.
-
That is just a beautiful spot. I can understand why you are excited about the up and come'n season. Do you have to travel far to get there or is it a close commute.
-
Beautiful pictures  You are so lucky to be able to live in an area like that.
-
Looper: Our early season runs the last weekend in August to the last weekend in Sept. Late season runs 3rd week of Nov. to about 2nd week of Dec. That's blacktail and elk both. 1 animal each in this area and either sex so, one deer and one elk only. This is for the General season. I didn't put in for any draws.
Ron: Takes me about 35 min to get there.
-
There's a place almost identical to that where I go. Looks beautiful!
-
great pic's bro and thanks for taking us along! really hope to join you someday and share a camp fire.
-
Beautiful pictures and country. I love those road cloased signs. That is usually what I look for to hunt. I like going in deep where vehicles can't go.

-
Ken: We'll make it happen some day. I guarantee it!
Gil: I agree with you. I hunted up this area last year and didn't run into another hunter the whole time. Most don't want to walk that far in. Me, I don't mind it at all.
-
Beautiful country!
-
-
wow how I miss Oregon! ( even though I was always on the other side up in the NE) Wannabe1 that area looks fantastic!
-
Thanks Jim. It is an area a little east of Lebanon, OR. I've been hunting up that way since 2006 and have seen plenty of deer and turkey. Found elk sign but, have yet to see them up there. I call them "Timber Ghosts" because they are so hard to find.
-
I miss the Oregon woods too :goldtooth:
Thanks for sharing!!

Great country there. This September I'll hunt Oregon for the first time.
-
Felix, if all goes well, I might be meeting up with you folks over in Burns. That is, I'm assuming you are talking about the 2010 Tradgang elk hunt?
-
Everybody's going to Oregon!
Maybe it's time for me to visit kin there.
Killdeer :banghead:
-
Killy, if you do, let me know and we'll meet up and shoot some arrows at stumps. They are pretty slow around here so, the hunting is pretty good. Seems about the only thing I can harvest is a stump!
-
hey bro i think this is the year for BOTH of us!! if ya get one save me a leg bone and i'll have something special made for you.
-
beautiful country...now what were those GPS numbers again ?????? :biglaugh:
-
Thanks for letting me tag along. Keith
-
Ken, I'll do that. I'm telling ya man, as much as we are putting into each year hunting, something out there is going to have to make the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow animals! :goldtooth:
-
You make me miss southern Idaho a lot.
-
Bring lots of arrows. You are a lucky man to have an area with so much game to hunt. Those trails are as good as it gets. Thanks for the tour.
-
Beautiful country right there!!! Thats a dream of all dreams for me! Thanks for sharing.
-
Wannabe, you picked a great day for it! I was stuck in the shop most of the day, but did get out to enjoy the weather a little and shoot my bow. Great pics, looking forward to seeing some hero pics in a couple of months
-
That is about all I can manage to sneak up on these days anyway! Sure must be nice to be able to cut loose in country like that. I would likely be arrested for having a strung bow in the Nat'l Forest outside of the season, or some such.
Stumping grounds are hard to find hereabouts.

Thanks Stan. I'm hoping for some hero pics myself.
Killy, to keep myself honest, all I carried were Judo's. :)
-
That is a nice area, i would love to hunt Oregon. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
-
TW,I really look forward to see there bro.
-
tw...that looks like an area i hunt over in the grande rhonde area.locked gate on both ends.loaded with elk and deer and plenty of bears too.i miss hunting the coastal range where i grew up but most of my favorite spots are long grown over now.unfortunately carl will not be joining us this year due to health reasons.felix..you will have a blast in burns with us,we will camp in a secluded area that has little traffic going through.i am sure things will be nice and green and the elk fat and sassy.
-
Larry,I trust on your knowledge of the places.Great spot and good people on an elk trad camp. What to ask more?
-
Cool!!
Thank you!
God bless,Mudd
-
Wow, beautiful country!
-
Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed the time out there yesterday and if all the cards will fall in the right place, this may be my year to bring home the trophy!
-
Awesome pics, I would be excited about all that sign also. Just a matter of putting the time and I'm sure we will see some more pics this fall!
-
Great Pics!! Thanks for taking us along!
Hopefully I can make it back out west sometime in the future! :campfire:
-
TW, looks like the arrows you made are flying straight! Those critters better watch out this fall. Looks like you have a nice little honey hole there.
-
Thanks Dave. Those arrows are flying straight. I nailed an old burned out stump and when I paced it off it was about 45 yds out and it was a direct hit. With 200gr up front and a total arrow weight of 510gr, that Centaur just launches them. :D
Ben: You're welcome at my camp anytime, you know that! Let us know and we'll get a good time in the makin's. :campfire:
