Title: PSE Kingfisher for hunting?
Post by: GREATBROWNKNOCKEMDOWN on July 05, 2010, 09:52:00 PM
My nephew is interested in trying to shoot a long bow and possibly  hunt with it. I bought him a King fisher a number of years ago for carp shooting and was wondering if i could set it up for him to hunt with? it is 45 Lbs at 28inches. the shelf is flat., is it ok to shoot off the flat shelf ? and is there anything else i might need to know?

You can shoot off a flat shelf but if you build it up with a small peace of leather or wood above the thoart of the grip you would get better results.

I have a kingfisher recurve 50#@28"... I have a raised rest ( the cheap screw-in kind )and I am darting 55-60# BOP 27.5" & 70-75# tapered ash BOP 30.25" both have 160grn points.

To answer Your question, Yes You can shoot off the shelf, Build up the shelf or even add a stick-on rest/screw-in rest or even a Feather rest.
