Looking somewhere to buy arrows or shafts made of ash
-
Raptor Archery (http://www.raptorstore.com/store/) is where I get My Ash shafts from.
-
Allegheny Mountain Arrow Woods is another choice for ash.

i 2nd allegheny mt arrow woods. Top quality and great service. Ash is tough stuff too great for knocking around stumping
-

I don't know the difference between my ash and a hole in the ground. What makes ash better than say POC? I'm just assuming it's heavier and stronger. Is this correct, and is there other benefits?
-
Grapes - Yep, that's pretty much it. Heavier and stronger. If you do a lot of stump shooting or 3D shooting, a dozen ash shafts will last you a lot longer than a dozen POC. The only downside to ash is that it does require more attention to straightening than POC.

Raptor is the place for me. Ted is a sponsor.

I still have some ash arrows I made in 1998. I got the shafts from Allegheny Mountain Arrow Woods. Ash is tough. That's why spear shafts were made from ash in Ye Olde Tymes.
-
I got mine from Allegheny Mountain arrow woods, i thought they were nice shafts, Raptor archery also sells them.
-
Thanks for all the help.I am trying to get some for hunting I really like a heavy arrow.
-
I went through a love affair with ash arrows because of their strength and weight but fell out of love with them after a few years because of the difficulty of keeping them even close to straight.
When you get a dozen shafts you will have a handful of snakes. Lots of heat and time will straighten most of them but mine had a tendency to return to their natural, snakey ways.
-
LAM, What spine and how heavy an arrow are you wanting to find?
-
I have a dozen 60# tapered shafts That I may post for sale in a few days.
-
I found the secret to keeping ash straight is a good penatrating sealer. I use multiple coats of Tru Oil. Poly just stays on the surface and moisture will eventually get in.
-
I second the tru oil and ash....or watco "teak oil"....all work helping keep them straight. Great arrow wood, and they penetrate all day long. Bill at allegheny mtn arrowwoods also sell 5/16" parallel hickory shafts...a good alternative, which I have recently explored...great stuff..
