I have a new-to-me 58 @ 28" Black Widow LAG logbow. I draw right about 30.5". My question is what size alum shaft should I start with? I would like to use my Bear 145gr broadheads.
I was thinking about trying my 2117's I have. I am thinking they should be pretty close. Any input would be apreciated.
If I were to decide to try carbons where should I start with carbon shafts.
Thanks
Ray

The 2117's should be way under spined.
The following aluminum arrows set-ups should work for you.
Theoretically, a 2219 cut to 31.5 will yield a 627 gn arrow @ 9.4 gpp and 10.4% FOC.
Theoretically a 2317 cut to 31.25 w/200 grain pt would yield a 664 gn arrow @ 10.0 gpp and 14.4% FOC.

2117s spine around 81-84#. You're probably drawing about 63-64#. You're not using that heavy of a head. I'd certainly give the 2117s a try before investing in anything else. Good luck.

There are numerous carbon options. A couple options are listed below.
GT 7995 Trad 31.0" 145gn head, 100gn insert,~616gn tot. wt, 9.8 gpp and 17.6% FOC
Trad Only 300 31.0", 145gn head, 100gn insert,~588gn
tot. wt, 9.3 gpp and 18.5% FOC

Thanks for the input. I was thinking the 2117 were going to be a little under spined, but I thought they would be pretty close. I am going to give them and try. If they dont pan out I will look in to the 2219's.

I made a mistake!!!!!!! Sorry
The 2117's should be fine at 30.25 inches w/145 gn head. The tot wt should be ~557 gn at 8.8 gpp and 12.3% FOC.

A 2512 X7 may be a viable choice.
30.5" 145gn head, 100gn insert,~588gn tot. wt, 9.3 gpp and 18.4% FOC

But he draws 30.5" I'm thinking he may indeed end up with 2219's. I'd try to make the 2117's work though...Van
