Thursday my wife came in to tell me a groundhog was out in her garden,I hadn't seen any this year although I've killed several in the past. Understand that this garden is her equivalent of my hunting efforts-obsessive is a mild adjective. Our daughter is getting married and this garden is supplying the bouquets.
So I sit on the patio and sure enough here comes the little begger. I move slightly and he jets for his hole-right under my bow target. So I go to our bedroom(second story)and slide the window open and sit with '61 Kodiak and GT 3555 with snuffer waiting him out. Knew he would be out as it was evening and this would be his snack time.
Lo and beold here he comes along the side of the house.I slowly draw back and let loose. A loud crack snaps my attention away from the shot. I must have hit the window frame with the upper limb which caused me to miss my spot by an inch or so. But it didn't matter as it was all over.

Great story and pic! So....don't suppose any 3555's will find their way into the wedding decorations as a tribute...? :) :archer:

Yes, Don suspect you mght have first hand experience with the bow. Still doing its job nearly 50 years later.
Hope there are a few more around as a small target tends towards confidence.Have killed garbage raiding possums, racoons, and a few squirrels trying to invade the roof. All this in small town USA.
Yes, the flowers survived to entice another day.

Nice shooting. Some elevated blind practice to get ready for fall.

excellent shooting!! varmit hunting ya can't beat it!!!
-
What a difference between a Judo and a broadhead on a small critter!!!! Good shot!!!!

Thanks for all the congrats, glad to say the garden is safe and the bow is fine also. At least I concentrated for the right second but then went to heck.
Groundhogs are tough little critters and I just grabbed one of my "late season" bows and arrow. That brass inset and heavy head give some momentum for sure.

Had a similar episode a month or so back, only difference was it was a family of them, and they took up residance under our deck. Like Tom, I found that GT 3555's with Snuffers, shot from the second floor window blind / stand are pretty good medicine for these pests.
My shooting wasn't quite as good, I'm mainly a ground pounder not used to elevated shots, and it showed; first couple shots were harmlessly high.
I eventually got it figured out and shot the youngin shown here, and I got mama as well. Mama made a bloody mess, a mighty doggone good thing that the Mrs. was at work and I had time to get the hose out...

Wow! Y'know, the neighbor's cat likes to poo in my garden............

Good shooting SJ, only one way I've figured to get rid of them once they take up residence. We are the solution. My wife thanked me for saving her flowers but wasn't interested in the how of the situation which is fine with me. But figured some on TG wouldn't mind the reality of a well placed arrow.
