Well I don't know about off-season trad events and such, but I do know that you are going to be living in the middle of deer and elk country UNREAL. Good for you, Rifle is beautiful. Be a change from Kansas for sho!

I took a Gas job in Rangely not far from there a couple of years ago but my wife backed out on the deal.
I loved it up there and the boss told me the hardest part about the job was getting to and from work everyday without hitting a deer or elk with your truck. Dead critters laying every were.
Congrats and good luck!!

There is a good trad shop in Silt (Valley Traditional, sponsor here) which is close, we have a great trad shoot in late June just northeast of Rifle.
-
Good for you, my parents just came back from visiting there and said it was "Gods country".
-
You'll love it. The area around Rifle used to be called the deer factory years ago. Dunno about now, but hunting and fishing opportunities abound.
Don't be surprised if you find time to hunt, it's just outside your door. Literally.
Welcome to Colorado.

Just stop by-- We will get you welcomed to our trad guys-- We are a sponser here on Tradgang-- Dck & Nancy

Forgot to say Silt is 7 miles east of Rifle.
-
Scattershot, yep the area rightly called the "deer factory" is the Piceance Basin. A few miles to the west of Rifle. A unique drainage that has undergone some changes in recent years due to resource management, but still has deer thicker than fleas on a hound dog's you-know-what.
That boy is gonna have it good...

Good Luck

you are moving to the middle of elk/deer mecca. Be sure to join the CBA, it is a great organization that works hard for bow hunters.
