Title: Thought on predator bows
Post by: PeteA on August 21, 2010, 04:19:00 PM
Guys, Think about buying a predator bow as a second bow. Shooting a bear take down right now. 50#@28. Drawing 27. Shooting spit finger. I was thinking of a hunter model 50#@28 but 58" length. The Bear is 60" Would like to hear from Predator shooters what they think. Also what arrows are you shooting.

I have Bear TD Supreme in A and B riser (#1 Bear Limbs). I also have Predator Custom Classic and Anniversary: On a scale of 1-10 with 10 best:

--Smoothness:  Predator 10  Bear 7
--Finish: Predator 8 Bear 9 (very high gloss)
--Speed: Predator 9  Bear 6 (with stock limbs)
--Grip (very different grips): Predator 8 Bear 9
--Appearance (exotics): Predator 9  Bear 7
--Shootability: Predator 9  Bear 8

I paid more for the Bears and I like the Bears very much, especially the limb attachment system. However, when I want to compare a bow's shootability (how accurate and smooth it shoots for me) I compare it to the Predator. This morning in fact I wanted to compare a bow I acquired 2 days ago that is the best shooting bow I own. I checked it against the Predator, not my Widow, Bear, Fox, Hoyt, or Blacktail.

I bought one for my son's 31st birthday this year and he LOVES it!

If you like SMOOTH drawing and shooting, you'll love the Predator. I would like the Predator a bit more if it fit my smallish hands a bit better -- the grip is about 4 7/8" around the throat. I'd like 4.5" or even a tad less.

I sold the rest of my top end bows when I bought my PREDATOR. Why have them sit on the shelf and never be shot?

Do a search and you will not find a bad word about them.

Love my Predators!  Smooth, quiet, accurate and fast!  I shoot Grizzly Stik Sitkas 29.5" (28" draw) with brass inserts and 150 gr 4 blade Stingers with my 48 and 52 pound limbs. I use 29.5" GT3555 with 125 gr from the 42 pound limbs.  The 48# are 58" and the 42/52# are 60".

I have a 60" 54# predator and shoot it better than my other bows. I've never been fond of how they look but very fond of how they shoot! That ugly thing just seems to always put the arrow where I'm looking.

Pete,

Go for it.  Mike will give you a good deal.

I shot Howard's Predator (and the other Predator that he was test shooting at FAS).  I loved both of them and quickly handed them back so as not to be tempted.  They are sweet shooters.

ishoot....LOL..I love the smilies and how they look disappointed in my post...too funny!

Seriously though, I have some "different" tastes and understand that most people love the look of Predators unlike myself. That said, it is my "go to" bow right now! Just to show you how messed up my tastes are I actually think that I'm sexy! Weird huh???
