How many people are there from Arkansas? I keep seeing people showing up from Arkansas so I am wondering. Also I am wondering if there are any trad shoots in Arkansas and also if not why not because we have a lot of shooters. And why don't we try together and hunt sometime. I like camp time with people not just myself. Just some thoughts? God Bless Ty

I'm from Hope, maybe we can get together some time for some kind of hunting.
-
I'm not from AR, but I'm as close as you can get and still be a resident, actually former resident, of KS. I grew up in a small town of 3500 people, Galena, KS. Galena's city limits on the eastern side of the town is the MO state line. The OK state line is about 2-2.5 miles S of our southern city limit. That puts us down in the extreme SE corner of KS. It's probably an hours drive, maybe less, to get to the AR state line and its closest point in the 4 State Area. It's been 41 years since the Navy took us away and now we've been in the Lowcountry of SC for the past 34+ years.

I'm from Bryant,Ar. I hunt alot at Wattensaw and I am going to try Dagmar this season as long as they dont flood for most of the season again.

How many shoot Elmer Patton's Crow Creek bows? I have a Black Feather longbow in his shop right now for a refinish. While he's doing the refinish, he's going to build a set of recurve limbs for me to go with the longbow limbs. The recurve limbs will be 62" and 45-47#@28". Elmer is quite the bow and a great friend. Elmer's shop is in Wynne, AR. Below is a link to the thread showing a pic of the Black Feather Elmer is refinishing for me:

I shoot a Dalton. Great bow and Elmer is a fine man.

I was in Ark for 13 years before moving to Tex. Man I miss it. I know Texas has a lot to offer but Arkansas is outdoorsmans heaven. Great country and lots of public land. Not to mention the flyfishing which was my job. What was I thinking getting maried and having a baby! :banghead:
Not realy I wouldn't trade my life for anything but I would love to move back to Ark.

I'm from Rogers. Lots of good hunting and fishing around here. I love it.
-
I,m from jonesboro and i hunt all over. It would be cool to get a weekend hunt/camp together on one of the WMAs or NWRs this year..
-
I work in Little Rock, but live and hunt in Grant County near a little place called Prattsville. Have roots in Saline County. Lin
-
I live about 6 miles out of Conway in the Saltillo community. A TG (Arkansas) get together hunt sounds very interesting.

Hey Tyler come over to Bonnerdale,,You have a invite for this bow season...Dave
-
If you go to Dagmar you better stock up on bug spray and I mean STOCK up.
-
Maybe a camp up on lake Ouachita lot of public ground there just an idea...do i hear a second...
-
I live in Crow Mountian AR. Yup, a sportsman's paradise. Easy on throwing out that "D" word guys...
-
I live in Benton, a TG get-together would be a great idea and Lake Quachita sounds as good a place as any.
Free tracking dog service within a hour of my home in Benton/Bryant area, should any of ya'll need assitance finding your wounded deer! Have bow, will travel! :archer2:
-
I reside in the northeast area. 36,000 acres of bow only close by. 11,000 of it 20 minutes and the other 25,000 45 minutes away. It will be my first year of traditional bow hunting. I can not wait. Camping will be great later in the season when skeeters die.
-
Hey the skeeter count is down, they only caught 85 in the nets in Stuttgart on Monday. Sounds good Arky if I can find time, I am hoping to get a night job at Remington. Plus I might be looking at a promotion at the new job so I will just have to see. I am always up for a hunt, Fish, or shoot on a Saturday right now though as long as I got the gas. God Bless, Ty
-
Skottyboy, i hunt some of the places you are talking about.. what kinda of bow you shooting?
-
A few of you know me from the site and a few of you know me from stumping, bowfishing, hunting and whatnot.
I have invited others to hunt with me on wmas for 2 years and so far have only had 1 guy take me up on it. On the other hand I have been invited by Buckster last year and I never made it. So I understand some times things just don't work out.
I'd really like to get a group of us together for a hunt and camp. Ouachita is good for me or whereever. Public land is fine with me. Tyler if you meet me at the house we can share the ride.
I have 3 of Elmer's bows. I have a Blackfeather, Crowmag & a Dalton. Love them all but the Dalton is my absolute favorite.
-
Hey Pac, I'll come hunt with you, would love to have the chance to bloody my Crow Creek Black Feather in Arkansas.
My mom's folks are from the Hot Springs area. I remember driving there as a kid.
-
Any time Lamey. That goes for everyone else too as long as you don't mind hunting public land. I'm retired and can pretty much go whenever. Lots of time but little money hence public land for me. That's fine with me though. I've killed a limit on public land most years.
Elmer is a good friend of mine. If you have not met him we can swing by and say hello.
-
Sounds good to me Pac, I sent you a PM. Maybe we can swing by Elmers and pick up another bow, he always has something brewing.
-
So out of the 10 Arkies on here I have met and shot with 2 and have chatted with another 2. Hopefully we can boost those numbers some day.
-
Sounds good. I have never hunted the Quachita area, but I am willing to do so. I really like the White River and Wattensaw areas. Whenever ya'll decide to have a gathering, post it. My time is limited, but I would really try to make a TG hunt.
God Bless
-
i live & hunt in the northwest corner of the state. wish i could just set around camp with you guys & just shoot the breeze as the old legs do'nt walk very good anymore.
-
Oh I forgot to mention that I have my first Cow Creek coming this week, a CC Mag! Can't wait to try it out.
-
the TBA (traditional bowhunters of Ar) have a couple club hunts every year. one usually at white rock wma, we have taken a few bears and alot of deer here and also have a hunt in SE ar in the lake merrisak area.. plenty of deer taken here as well.... this in addition to 2 or 3 shoots a year at the Mayflower range although not updated on a real regular basis info can be found here: http://tradbowar.com/

I would be interested in a WMA campout and hunt late in the season, would love to meet all of you. Just let me know when and where. There is some good public hunting here in SW Arkansas as well.
-
Just wanted to reiterate what Dave Lay said above. All the things you guys are talking about TBA does. Great bunch of guys and gals!! We have 3 shoots a year and about the same number of hunts a year.
Yea I need to update the website but I am overloaded. I will try and get to it this week. If any of you are interested send me your email at [email protected] and I will send you a copy of the current newsletter that details the upcoming shoots and hunts. Below are the hunt dates and locations for this coming season.
Friday October 8, 2010 – Sunday October 10, 2010 Whiterock WMA.
Some will be camping at Byrd’s campground. See http://www.byrdsadventurecenter.com for more information. Some will be camping at Redding a couple of miles from Byrd’s. There are hot water showers and public rest rooms available at both campgrounds. Redding is tent camping and Byrd’s has tent and RV camping. We will most likely have a potluck Saturday night. We’ll do some Dutch oven cooking and share what is cooked.
Usually somebody comes a day or two early and stays a day or two longer so we will try and let you know who those folks are if you are interested in extending your visit.
November 28, 2010 – December 5, 2010 White River/Trusten Holder
We will camp at Merisach Lake campgrounds. Full hook ups are available. There are hot water showers and public rest rooms available.
Usually somebody comes a day or two early and stays a day or two longer so we will try and let you know who those folks are if you are interested in extending your visit.
We are considering a third option for January or February. If anyone has a suggestion please let Joe Clark know

The deer are thick in the Ouachita mtn area this year...maybe oct..bow hunt bass fish Lake Ouachita....grill some steaks...promote our sport......Dave
-
Dave I have a 2 day BFL Bass tournament 2-3 Oct at Hamilton. Anytime after that I am free until Nov.
In Nov I am suppose to have 2 TG brothers from NC coming here to hunt on public land & I also might have another TG brother coming from Alabama to do some hunting in Nov. Mudd wants to come down and hunt a bit too but I don't know when he is coming.
Ouchita sounds fine to me for a get together. I hunted there a few days last year and don't know the area very well but need to learn more about it. saw lots of deer too.
-
Folks I started a thread about this on the AR page so we wouldn't have to keep hunting for it.
-
