ok lets try it again without the extreme rain! i would love to put together a small stump shoot/ camp work and cook out for Sunday. i need a little help with a new camp site. it will be VERY VERY basic, no grand illusions here. a nice lean too, fire pitt, water hole and just the basic's. it will be free to anyone to use as it is on public ground right near 5 acres that myself and Ron W own. also could ues a little help setting a tree stand or two and ground blinds. it is a beautifull area that you will fall in love with. i'm thinking of meetint everyone at 8am? what do ya say??
-
i have named the camp "The 5th Direction" for a variety of reasons. one can lose himself and find his soul in those mountains.
-
I'd love to help. I could really use a place like that. Let me check with my supervisor. She just fell asleep. What do you need?
-
don't need nothing bro! just yerself and whoever wants to come with ya! let me know if you can make it!
-
ttt
-
looking forward to the weekend and realaxing in the mountains with friends!
-
ok who knows for sure if they can make it?
-
I will absolutly be there.
-
Ken I'm in, sent you an e-mail. Casey will probably follow me or ride with me up.
Tell your mom to get the frog legs out, with good weather we will need to eat em up.
the way I see it, 150 legs, 1 miunte per side = 2 minutes to cook. We will be cooking them for 30 minutes if we only fit 10 at a time in the pan. Of course this doesnt account for my inefficiencies as a cook so add another 4 minutes to teh estimated cook time :bigsmyl:
-
Charlie,
Let me know the time and place to meet you so I can start planing. I havent decided weather or not to follow or ride along. We can work out the details that morining. Equipment wise, is there anything the camp can use pots, pans, hot sauce etc..
-
I can't get away but will be thinking about you guys.........
-
You know if I lived closer I'd be hanging with you guy's for sure.
-
can't really think of anything we need, i will buy a blue tarp tommorow unless anyone has one? as i said it will be a VERY BASIC camp but will be there for all to use. i plan on staying a weekend very soon as Sept 1 opens small game and that would be a great way to brake the camp in. also bear season opens soon and we could stay a weekend for that.
-
Ken,
Can you let me know the area?
Depending on how far from me I might show my mug on Sunday if you want my help
F-Manny
-
Hope you guys have fun. Remember the pics.
-
Manny,
sorry for the delay bro been going full tilt today getting things done! in all reality tommorow would not be a great time to make the trip as there will not be much time to relax due to camp chores. HOWEVER with in the next couple weekends i want to due a small game hunt that would be great for people to come up and get together! i know Horatio and sons would like to as well. also remember early bear season opens soon and i have 2 stands by good bear sign, could camp out that weekend too. so how about ya come up on a Saterday morning/afternoon and we small game hunt, stay at the camp and leave early Sunday afternoon? as allways this is open to all tradgang members.
-
looking like a work party of 7 Tradgangers today, should get EVERYTHING done and with in the next 2 weeks would love to set a date for a small game hunting weekend! pic's to follow later today.
-
Ken my friend,
Thanks for the invite!
I'll look into hunting license and the driving and I'll pm you early this week.
Do you have a zip code for me to mapquest the trip?
Take care,
F-Manny

Yup! Another tough day. It's a tough job, but somebody had to hold up that frame while Charlie lashed it together.
-
Ken,
Allow me to change my shirt next time your going to take a picture. It looks like I went swimming in the creek! Or maybe its from drawing back Kenny's stout Widow. lol
It was nice meeting everyone as well. Big and Little Ken, Charlie, John, Chris and Drew. It truly was medicine for my soul. I really appreciate you showing me your super secret honey of a spot. I hope to share it with any and all of you great hunters this season. Ill be sure to make some time to meet up again.

when you said this is always open to tradgang members does that include bear? i'm about 8 hours away, in the northwest corner of the state, by Lake Ontario
-
yes sir Giff! will show ya the camp and 2 stands with good bear sign not 15 minutes walk from camp. you are welcome to camp, stands and the mountains! i plan on being there every Sunday the rest of the year small game hunting, deer hunting and just relaxing. a couple other Tradgangers will be in and out during bow season, allways someone around to share camp with. there was fresh bear sign today in the ridges.
-
giff, your not that far away, I'm only 25 min. from the Mountain and I can be to Lake Ontario in about 3-3 1/2 hours, 4 hours to the border. Your closer than you think!!!

Bear is fair game in NY. they are abundant in the ADK's However, they are not easy to find.
No Baiting and No Dogs help them survive but since you cant really spot and stalk them you are reduced to good scouting and a little bit of luck (No not the NY state Lottery guy). You get a free bear license with your deer license although I'm not sure how it works with Non-Residents.
If you were sharing camp with me and you do not get a bear tag, I will be happy to pretend I shot your bear. ;) ;)
-
please keep in mind we call it camp but it is VERY BASIC.

Hey guys, what GMU were we in? Im looking for a map of the area.
-
Is there any way I can get the address?
-
Zmonster,it is in 5J. Check your P.M.
Giff, I'll let Ken give you the exact address.
As you can see by the picture above; I am well rested, and ready to go.
-
DMU is 5j. a address you can use is 141 Church rd Johnstown NY 12095 which is my mothers house and where we meet, it is also just a 2 minute ride to where we park to hunt the mountain.
-
this is a rare miss by Bowspirit while stump shooting, he did manage to hit a harmless sapling right in the 10 ring though!
