Here it is, The 5th annnual Ohio Traditional Deer Hunt Thread for 2010!!! :campfire:
-
Hey Charlie whats up? I will try to make it again this year and hopefully stay longer. Put me down for a shirt if you get enough interest, let me know and I'll send you the $.
-
I will be there for certain. Looking forward to meeting some fellow ganger's. I'm in on the shirts.
Magnus
-
Looking forward to it! Unfortunately I have school Thurs night but I'm gonna request time off for fri and sat first thing tomorrow. I'll be wanting one of those Large T's. :D
-
That is 4 people for shirts including me. If 6 more guys jump in and want them, I will put in the order. The cost was roughly $10 a shirt last time. We still have 2 months until camp and I'm already excited.
I can almost see the pond and hills already....
:campfire:
-
Charlie, you know I'm in. Give me an address to send shirt money to. 2XL please!
-
BTW, will a Steelers fan be welcome in an Ohio deer camp?
-
Steelers fans are welcome. I think where we hunt might actually be closer to Pitt than Cleveland!
I am really just an Ohio State fan anyway. The pros are big, overpaid cry babies!
-
Good, now I have to figure out a good route to take to get there.
-
VT'er,
Make sure you take route I70 into Ohio. Anything else doesn't make much sense. I think it is 70/76 through Pennsylvania over to Scranton. You will need to come down I81 into Scranton PA I believe. My brother lives in Boston so I have been out that way a few times. I would guess your drive will be about 14 hours. You still want to come? :notworthy:
-
Right in the rut! Dang, I can't open the map so I cant find out how to get there. Can someone tell me the nearest town and I can find it from there on google earth?
-
Cumberland, Ohio is the closest town. 83 runs right through it. You have to go 7 miles(roughly) south of Cumberland to find the camping area off of route 83. On road T13.
Anyone who wants to meet somewhere to go over aerials of the area and see where everything is, I will meet up with you. We just need to find a place in the middle with internet access. I can go ever everything with you.
VT'er,
We may need to come up with a plan to help you find us. We will have to get some decent signs posted.
Signing out until tonight, busy all day.
-
Yea, I figured around 14 as well. I think I found a good route thru Altoona. Looking forward to it. :campfire: I plan on getting there sometime Tues as well.
-
I don't think I'll have any problem finding the campground if that's what you mean. If there's any way you can e-mail me the map that you're referring to in your above post, I'd appreciate that!
-
As Dylan mentioned, he and I should be there for at least a bit of the time. If you end up doing shirts, I'm an XL.
Thanks for putting this together again - you rock!
-
Hey VTer, that map should be in your inbox.
Edit that, rereading the thread, I don't think I sent you what you were asking for. Apologies.
-
I should be their this year and hopefully stay longer than last time I was caught up in hunting my own place pretty hard lastyear
-
Anybody have any pics of the campsites from years past?
>>>>>>>>>================================X>
-
Here are some pics I took in past years;
The pond we camp next to:
Not sure if this pump even works, I always bring my own water.
A shallow deer crossing where two ponds meet. This isn't near the camp, but a short drive up the road(1 1/2 miles).

The outhouse;
I am looking for my other pictures, but haven't found them yet. Anybody have some more? Jim Dylan?
-
I have 7 guys for shirts now.....I will go ahead and order. I know that isn't ten and I will give it a few days to see who else wants one before I place the order. Check your PM's for info if I didn't already contact you.
-
I'll take two shirts. XL. And a L. If ok. Thanks.
Magnus.
-
Well that was fast. In the last 5 minutes I recieved enough orders to get me up to the ten I needed. I will still wait until Wednesday before I order. No problem on the sizes Magnus, just make sure you include the size requests when you send payment to make sure I get it right!
Just as a reminder, please do not discuss the money out here on PowWow. We are not allowed to sell items on this forum. :readit:
Thanks guys,
-
I'll be there as well. Hope to stay a bit longer this year. :campfire:
-
Anybody else with pics?
-
Any body interested in a blanket swap maybe?
Magnus
-
What kind of blanket are you bringing??? :D sorry brother I couldnt help myself.
-
BTW, if anybody is going to go there before the hunt, I'd like to know if that water pump works. :help: Its shown on the detailed map of the campsite, so I figure it's not just decoration. I guess I could get my shower water out of the pond.
>>>>>>>============================X>
-
Drummer
I'll probably bring my Dallas Cowboys blanket. Lol! I was wondering who was gonna jump on that one after I reread my post. That's awesome.
I'd like to know about water as well. I'll make a few calls and see if I can find out.
Magnus
-
I'm not sure if I will have anything to trade. I am in the process of selling everything I don't use. I need the cash to break even on hunting this season.
-
No kidding I feel your pain! I dont really have a lot to get rid of either but I'm sure I can find something. Last time we were there the well worked and people were drinking from it. I always just bring water in washed out milk jugs and sometimes use the pump for washing. Went out and shot a little tonight. I've been shooting pretty good this year but havent really had the money to go to all the 3-d shoots. It will be nice to see everyone. Kinda feel like a hermit this year.
-
I was at this event the first year, but we left early to hunt another location.
How many deer has been shot here by the Tradgangers?
-
Hi all you can count me in be down there early on the 3rd hopefully.
Charlie ill take an xl shirt. thanks ill get the money out this week.
b nice to meet up with you all again.

It worked last year. Could have broken, I suppose but it's not just there to pretty the place up. :-)

I shot a doe the week before everyone else came down the first year. Other than that we have a miss on a good buck, a miss on a spike and a miss on a doe. Aaron passed on a small buck and I passed a VERY marginal shot on a big buck the second year.
We always see deer(and some really decent bucks), but somehow it always seems we can't close the deal. Last year guys saw some HUGE deer, but fate kept them just "that far" out of range or in brush.
I personally am going up in the trees to change that luck. I know a number of good spots that will produce and maybe a climber will help. I seriously expect to take some deer home this year, especially if more guys use climbers.
I honestly don't think we have done that bad hunting-wise out there. Given the fact that none of us previously knew the property and we have hunted almost exclusively from the ground in big woods for the last four years. Lots of close calls.
-
Jim, did you guys set the tents up in the parking lot? I heard the camping area was grassy.
-
Well kinda on the edge, the back of our tents are on the grass. Thats my green one in the center. Its a big flat spot that works well and we all try to cram in together. There is lots of grassy area to set up in. We kinda get the place to ourselfs as far a camping goes.
-
Is that Pond 43 in the picture?
-
There are actually some sites that are better for setting up camp than the one we have been using. That being said, I don't know that there are any that are better scenery-wise.
That is pond 43 in the pic.

As Don says, there is a fringe of grass in that area where most of the tents are. My son and I pitched our tent in the next row down (by the water so it gets REALLY cold - thanks Dylan) where there's a little more grass.
My tent is the little green blur at 10 o'clock from Don's (also green) tent.

2X Professor
-
There he is....was wondering when you would show up Rob....
Ok, the shirt order goes in tomorrow.
-
Good, another 2Xer! I was beginning to feel like I wouldn't fit in with this group. :saywhat:
-
Looks like a good time, count me in for a large T.
-
(http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r224/REALVTer/DentonHill10001.jpg)
This is a pic of my campsite at Denton hill. I'll be sporting most of it Ohio. Think there's room? :bigsmyl:
-
Would the wife and I both be welcome? She shoots a wheelie but I'd be in all primitive gear.
Someone email me a map. I can't get my Adobe reader to work at all, even downloded it again. I can see the hunting area on google earth but cant make out the camp grounds for sure.
-
Geez VTer, I'd think you should get some Hilton points for sleeping in digs like that!
-
Vt'er,
We will make room for that set up!
-
Osage,
You are both more than welcome. We have nothing against wheels. Just because most of us will be trad, doesn't exclude those that use compounds. Who knows? Maybe one day she will shoot trad and even if she doesn't... no one will hassle her. We had a guy the first year that was shooting an old compound and now he shoots selfbows!
What map do you need? An aerial or the AEP rec map?
See you there,
-
Here is the final tally for shirts. Let me know if there is a correction. I will put in the order tomorrow. I held it off for today.
Myself - XL
Dylan - L
Jim(Kahn) - XL
Jim(BG Hunter) - XL
Greg(VT'er) - 2XL
Rob(Olkdskool) - 2XL
Thom(Sticksnstrings) - L
Matt(Magnus) - XL & L
Matt George (Celticknot) - M
Tony P - XL
Aaron (ohiobowhunt)- XL?
-
You forgot Robert's(oldskool) 2XL. Gotta look out for my fellow 2X'rs.
-
If you go to campsite A instead there is a huge open grassy area that you could probably set up 40 tents. It's not as pretty as what you show but is quite accomadating for a large group and would give you plenty room to set up 3d.
Dont they drop off the "slab wood" anymore or is that just in summer?
VTer are you going to bring Ken and Ed with you?
-
Hey Scott, met you at Vern & Rebecca's the year I went. I'm headed out myself. Ken & Ed have been going to Ontario the last few years, g.g.g.gun hunting. I'm sure they would get a kick out of this hunt though.
-
There is lots more room if we spread out a bit, but we all tend to gravitate to one spot. Lots of room for tents- if we spread out some.
They don't drop slabwood anymore.
Also, I just found out that those ponds supposedly have some good crappie/bass fishing if you bring a pole. You might need a canoe or raft though.
-

I don't plan on bringing all the kitchen stuff. Just the basics. I figure soups and sandwiches mostly.
-
Buckeye, thanks,,, just a map that shows me where to get to the campground.
-
Charlie you guessed correctly, I'll take an XL.
-
Shirt order went in today.
Osage,
I am trying to figure out what map to send that would be easiest.....
-
I sent a screenshot of the page with the campground on it last night. Osagetree, is that good enough to get you on track?
-
I can give you directions that will get you right to it.
I have been there many many times. I have a few friends that live right up the road. Charlie I can't wait. Is vern coming again? The fella that had the borders bow.
-
Looks like we may have a good turn out this year. Osage, I've been looking at your bows for years at the bench. It will be nice to see one in person.
-
Haven't heard from him, but that guy is funny and a heck of a shooter!
-
I think I have and old PM from him floating around somewhere, lem-me look
-
How fancy do you guys get on meals?
-
I've never been to this camp, so I can't offer any insights. OTOH it's Friday night and it just seems right for some beer and hunting stories :campfire:
I grew up in Montana and at the ripe age of 12 I picked up a rifle and went hunting as is proper in those parts. In our camp there was an old guy named Al. Al had hunted all over this country from the time he was a teen and he didn't like to adventure much by the time I knew him. He took a 218 Bee to camp every year, but I don't know if he carried a single cartridge for it. Al would talk to farmers and DNR all year long, host parties all summer for the guys to stand around maps and grunt approvingly, Al was a helluva guy. He even took a 5th wheel to camp every year so we had a nice warm place to hunker down and play cards if a blizzard blew in.
My very first morning in camp I walked into the camper just before sun up and Al's got a full omelette bar cooking! I order up a ham/mushroom/swiss omelette and a piece of toast and viola! There it is just a few minutes later! By the time we have all had our breakfasts, Al was done lining up sack lunches with our names on them! I put mine in my pack and head off for a day of hunting. Al is such a character, he won't let anyone even do his dishes, he says it gives him something to do while he listens to the radio. Later that day I find a nice bluff looking out over Gods country and I open my lunch and there is a sandwich, chips, a pickle, some candy, all kinds of goodies! I have my three course lunch with my million dollar views and head on back for the second half of my loop.
I get back to camp and there is a ton of commotion. One guy got a nice mulie buck, and two guys got antelope. It was a busy night but we got it all up on the buck pole and Al was making us a special dinner to celebrate the guys successes! I clean up and head to the camper and I've barely cracked the door and I'm about knocked over by the smell of liver and onions! To this day I can't think of anything I'd like to eat less than liver... Al dishes up every man a double helping of fresh liver. So much liver there isn't any room for any side dishes. Hell, Al didn't even make any sides. We had liver, liver, liver, and some onions. I pushed it all around my plate a little bit, ate out the onions, tried to eat a few tiny morsels of liver, but I couldn't do it. I went to bed a little hungry and looking forward to my made to order breakfast!
Turns out Al had a GREAT sense of humor. Everyone got their omelettes and he had a special one for me. I took it and sat down for a bite of my... left over liver and onion omelette! Turns out Al was a depression era kid, waste not, want not. I ate the egg around that liver, scraped every last piece of cheese off the plate I could, but I didn't eat any of the liver. I should have suspected something by the way Al smiles as he wished me a good hunt and handed me a paper bag with my name on it :D
I don't need to tell you what kind of sandwich I had that day, or that I buried it, or how much I prayed nobody shot any critters with a liver big enough to be cooked! I got back to camp that night and Al made me a big mug of hot cocoa with that same wicked smile and served up some tenderloin and potatoes for the whole crew.
Al died just a couple years after that trip, but that's the sort of character you always hope to share camp with!
-
Good story. I feel the same way about liver. Here's a pic of some apple pie that we had at one of our NH camps that we called Camp Goober because we ate a lot of Goober sandwiches. (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r224/REALVTer/scan0013.jpg)
Here's a pic of me cooking a grouse that I shot in CO on our elk hunt. I wasn't much of a cook back then and it was like chewing on rubber.
-
Irish, the guys full name was vernon thompson. His last post was jan so I dont know if he is still around. I sent him an e-mail, I'll let you know.
Greg Its really up to you on the food. I tend to eat light and not to fancy but thats just me. I'm also a sun-valley bar and coffee for breakfast kinda guy where some have to have tatas, eggs and bacon. your call
-
We tend to leave before sun-up to hunt. Usually, it is a regular old prepackaged breakfast for me with a sandwich for lunch(late morning) and some water in my backpack. Dinner is usually better. Most times I precook food and just heat it up over the fire. I was thinking about bringing something a bit more substantial this year food-wise......
:campfire:
-
There isnt much close in the way of diners unless things have changed since my last visit. If you want something good, you better bring it. Most of the ponds have bass and bluegill which would make a wonderful dinner......
-
Will anyone have any maps or aerial photos in camp? I'm going to be ground hunting and would like to get the lay of the land before heading out. Thanks.
Magnus

Since I finished my chores early and had the afternoon to kill I took off and drove around this area a little bit today. Here's my mental notes in no particular order:
Gracie's Market is he only business in town, but it was open, has an ATM machine, and it is the deer check station too. It's just a little market, I'll be bringing everything I need. Gracie's is advertising firewood, and so is the first house on 83 as you leave town. I didn't check on prices.
Heading south out of Cumberland on 83 I was a little worried I might miss the turn for T13. Then I saw a little sign (http://thomjorgensen.com/images/misc/yoursign.jpg) at the turn that might help. Most of the roads are paved, but even the ones that aren't are in great shape. No problem taking the Prius down all of them.
The guys are right, that is a HUGE campsite so that shouldn't be any problem! Every spot was taken for the holiday weekend but it seems like a nice campground.
The lake is posted with a sign saying all bass between 12 - 15" must be released, go big or eat tuna.
The water pump is still working, but that water doesn't taste great. If I run out of what I'm bringing, I'll be running this water through a filter before drinking it.
After I checked this all out I went and drove a few roads around the Rec Land to the south, seems pretty brushy in general but I see lots of spots with potential.
This was just a lightening trip to find it, clock it, and check for construction along the way etc. Real scouting trips will have to come later...
-
Thanks for the intel Sticks. Every little bit helps. The town that Gracies Market is in is Cumberland I take it?
Kind of hard to miss that sign! :biglaugh:
-
Gracies is in Cumberland, correct. It tends to be our go to place for snacks and adult liquid beverages. Scouting from the road is tough there as the topo changes quickly. This is reclaimed mining land, depending on what has taken place in the past or distant past the woods can change in a hurry. The deer like it though  but it can get tough on us ground hunters.
-
Is T13 the second left out of Cumberland?
Thanks for the scout Mr. Sticksnstones! Mapquest is telling me to take I64 in WV, but I think I'll stick to the Ohio county roads for scenery. Might take twice as long to get there but it should be a nice trip through the rolling hills of southern Ohio.
One good meal a day for me and dehydrated or junk food for the rest of the day. I can eat bluegill & small bass under 12", wouldn't be my first time but, since the rut will be winding up, I doubt I'll be fishing. Maybe we can cook some fresh liver and onions after someone takes a deer.
If it is warm weather, what will we do with the harvest??? I'd hate to have to leave at that point.
-
Sorry I haven't weighed in recently fellas. I was at the OSTA shoot Fri and Sat. Than at my sisters to see my grandma from Oregon all day Sunday.
I can bring some aerials to camp and I'm planning on mailing a few in advance with stand sites marked to those who requested them.
I think Osage and VT'er wanted some aerials marked stand sites. I will get those out as soon as time permits. Make sure I have your address to send the aerials to (I think I have yours VT'er).
-
You bet guys, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon! If T13 is the second left (same way I saw it on the map), that means I completely blew by the first one. Luckily there is no mistaking our turn :)
I'm glad to read Drummer's note, it was really bushy at the roads and in the creek bottoms but I did find a few nice conifer stands. I've never invested in trail cams or tree stands for fear they might get stolen, but I'm thinking hard about putting out a camera once I get my general AO figured out.
I noticed a sign for Rittberger Meats in Zanesville so I thought I'd check it out. I don't like leaving game to hang so this was high on my priority list too. Since it's 20 minutes away and the check point is en route it looked like a good option. Anyone know anything about this place? http://www.rittbergers.com/index.html
-
sticks, I have some friends that hunt in Ohio (they have a lease)and they bring deer meat to a place called "Smokin' Ron's". I thought it was near Zanesville but I could be mistaken. Anyways, the stuff they get from there is really good. He turns the venison into summer sausage, jerky, slim jim stiks, and a whole bunch of other stuff. A little pricey, but boy is it good.
-
Haven't been spending much time on the computer this summer so I just saw this. I have some property in Guernsey County and it looks like this isn't very far away. Sounds like a great time.
-Brian
-
Come on over Brian, plenty of room!
There is a butcher shop in Cumberland that processes deer. Haven't used their services yet, but I imagine it will do. Also, there are a couple local boys that might be able to help.
If we have to go to Zanesville, there is a place called Phillips that does a good job butchering a deer. I can get you there, used to live near Zanesville.
-
I'll be there! I would have chimed in sooner ,but my connection is so slow it took me 3 days to catch up! :saywhat:
-
Oh! I think Vernon went back to the DARK SIDE!
-
Mike,
Nothing I can do on the shirts bud, order went in last Thursday.
Sticks,
Never been there...
-
Phillip's sounds great! I assume this is the place?
http://www.phillipsmeats.com/deerprocessingfees.html
Both this and Ron's sound like good spots to me, just need to harvest enough for the 2011 campfire! :)
-
That's Phillips alright! They make VERY good summer sausage/trail bologna. I had half a deer made into it once by them. Excellent quality and vacuum packaging.
I sure hope we cut out some backstraps ourselves and cook them right there this year! I also have a friend that would let me come over to his house to hang and cut up a deer, but I don't know if he would let too many other people. We have cut up, ground, canned and packaged our own deer previously at his house south of Zanesville.
I'm already having trouble getting to sleep. Two more months of this?
-
Yeah charlie 2 more months! I can't take it. I can put up a sign on monday at T13 so everyone will find it. But its kinda hard to miss. I believe it is exactly 6 miles south of cumberland on the left so start looking to your left a mile 5. I will be down on friday night to hunt a buddies property that is just a few minutes away. I will set up camp with everyone at the hunt on tuesday afternoon. I will be bringing a full iron camp cook set and everyone is free to use it as long as they respect it. I usually cook more food than I could ever eat and am always willing to share. I will have a few hardy breakfasts pre made and a few big dinners pre made. So bring your appitite. I can't hunt on twigs and berry's (or pringles and hotdogs) buckeye. I'm so excited!!!!!
-
Its the only intersection with a light on. That stupid little light has saved my butt year after year. Why does time go so slow when it comes to this sort of thing. Oh it flew by last weekend but nooo. Had to foam fill the old deer target last night. Ive been knockin the crap out of it, look out deer. :archer2:
-
Time is go n so slow now that i know that i'm go n hunting. look foward to meet up with everybody again. and meet n some new people again. Been reading lots of oasges post and ready to see some of his bows in person
-
I was able to print off a few aerials at work. Not the best quality, but I will mark them and send out to those that requested.
-
Thanks Charlie.
-
Drummer,
What kind of foam do you use? My 3D deer target is getting fairly ragged.
VT'er,
No problem! Like I said, the aerials are kinda small and not the best, but you will get a general idea. I will also write up a basic description of each stand site telling what is there. Such as; if it is a ridge, logging road, funnel or Oaks. That sort of thing.
Shoot straight fellas,
-

I would love to give this a try, but I have an invite to hunt a friends property on the West side of Michigan. It is gonna be prime rutting time up here then.
-
Chuck I use the cheep-o great stuff spray foam. There are a bunch of threads on how to do it. It aint tuff, hec if I can do it, it aint tuff. I have fixed this one 3 times now. A little spay paint and its back to brown again. Its not the same foam and doesnt last as long but a much better price than a new one
-
I'm gonna try to make it down there. Don't know for sure yet. Yall ain't gonna make fun of my Georgia accent are ya. :goldtooth:
-
I have lived in ohio my whole life and have been asked what part of the south I'm from. LOL you'll be fine pardner.

Maybe! :bigsmyl:
-
Not unless you make fun of my NE Ohio accent.....
-
I've been coming up here hunting for 13 years. I can handle the ribbing with the best of em. I just happend to take a job this summer in Cleveland. My wife has family in Howland and that is where we found a house to rent. I am pretty stoked about getting to hunt some of these spots for more than a week this year. Hope I can make it to meet some of my fellow tradgangers. Sounds like a good time.
-
Well, if you don't make fun of Charlie's NE Ohio accent, I'm gonna! Georgia accent though - nah, you'll be just fine.
:D
-
Are you bringing the howard hill again this year jim? How have you and dylan been? This will be my third year at this hunt, and everyone has been absolutley great to be around. Even if I never shoot a deer at this hunt I will always show up just for the comrodary and goodtimes. Although I believe there is going to be some deer taken this year. For most of us we have been down there enough to figure out some good spots and we also try to set up good spot for first timers. Can't wait to see you all!
-
Howdy everybody. I'm gonna be offline for 10 days taking a little vacation out west (not hunting) so I won't be responding to anything until I get back.
That aside I had a thought, instead of everyone buying 5$ bundles of firewood, what if we pooled up for a truck or a cord of wood and had it delivered to the campsite the first day of the hunt?
There is a guy up here doing 150$ for a 8ft truck bed of seasoned but doesn't deliver that far. Just seeing that ad got my gears going...
-
That sounds like a good idea to me if we can find some one to deliver it.
Magnus
-
If I can make it I will load up a bundle of slab wood and bring it. I would pitch in on a truck load too. Either or.

For most of us we have been down there enough to figure out some good spots and we also try to set up good spot for first timers. Can't wait to see you all!
HH - absolutely! It's my only bow and I figure it's just a matter of time until I figure out how to shoot it straight. :D
Dylan plans to be there as well. He's doing great for a frail, sickly little guy. Heh.
I'm with you on the camp. I'd like to zap a deer there one of these days but the point of being there is the people, the camp and the hunt - not just meat. Should be a blast again!
-
Re: firewood - we'd be glad to pitch in as well.
-
Hey guys. Its legal to cut up fallen wood on public property I have a big truck and a big cjainsaw. We can spend tuesday aftermoon colecting firewood.
-
We have always had enough wood in the past, I think it'll be fine. I just can't see paying for wood when it is readily available. I will bring some from my buddies place in Muskingum County.
Also, you ARE ALLOWED to transport firewood from the following counties since there is no quarenteen in these counties; Muskingum, Athens, Washington, Vinton, Lawrence, Gallia, Tuscarawas, Stark, Jefferson, Carroll, Columbiana, Bellmont, Guernsey, Noble and Jackson.
Additionally, if your firewood IS NOT coming out of quarenteened areas of Ohio, Michigan or Indiana it is fine. (IE; Vermont wood is fine)
Please refer to the following web addresses to check your county/state if you like;

I'm not a smart man Jenny. Does this all mean that I can not bring some of the 200' hickory tree that fell in my Summit co. back yard? It's not Ash but I dont want to contribute to this problem. I hug trees all day at work but I like to be warm too.
-
Camp site A is loaded with slat wood just have to pick through it! We won't use it all at the Squirrel hunt if we can help it! :campfire:
-
Like I said I'm bringing my chain saw so we can cut some up.
I figure we'll have plenty. As long as we don't have big ole whit man fires we should be fine.
-
White man fires rule! Read my signature line!
:biglaugh:
-
Housten we may have a problem
-
Sorry Charlie, I won't be bringing any firewood from VT for you to burn any appendages.
-
I have cut and split 2 cords of wood since saturday and have only been out 2 times to do it. Stop talking about firewood. It makes my body hurt. Oh wait it is hurting right now.
Ibprophen is my friend. So has everyone been shooting their bows? I know I haven't. But thats changing tomorrow and every day after that, that I can.
-
WHAT??? are you out of your mind? . . sorry, yes I shoot every chance I get. Im lucky though back yard range so its just a walk outside. I'll never be a world class archer but I love to shoot a bow.
-
I have been doing nothing but hauling and shoveling dirt for 2 weeks. Leveling my backyard so it won't flood anymore. Some shooting but not enough.....
-
I shot at shoots all summer so I have been shooting but now that shoots are over with I have to get my but outside and do It.
-
Another ton and a half of dirt shoveled tonight... no shooting. Almost done and then time to get ready... arrows to fletch and broadheads to sharpen.
:archer:
-
Charlie, do you need me to bring my tractor over again?
-
Rob looking forward to seeing your mug again!
-
Man I was freekin on tonight! It felt soooooo good. Droping 4" groups at 23 yards. Felt GREAT!! Only hope I can do that when it counts :archer2:
-
Good job Drummer!
-
It will be a fun time as usual. Lookin forward to seeing you to Mike
-
(http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy351/Drummerathome/goodgroup.jpg)
Took this with my phone, lovin it! Oh and yes Its a deer standing in the tall grass cuz the legs gave out about a year ago :banghead:
-
Poor thing! I'm glad you put it out of it's misery.
-
looks like you put it out of it misery a few times over. LOL So you bringin your dog to the deer hunt again drummer? How's miranda been? So who did vern come with last year?
-
Irish,
Vern came with BG hunter(Jim).
TO those who asked for maps.... I wish I wasn't so d$%mn busy right now. I haven't been able to do anything other than get this yard taken care of before I run out of time(too much rain/wet weather). I have been trying to find time to get those aerial maps labeled and mailed, but it looks like it will still have to wait at least a few more days. I plan to finish up work on the yard and cutting wood today, then I will get maps out ASAP. Also, I should have the shirts soon. Talk with ya'all later.
-
I wish I lived closer Charlie, I'd really love to do some yard work! :bigsmyl:
-
finally got outside to shoot for a bit today. Wasn't hittin the broadside of a barn for a bit then just tightened it all up and was slayin foam. Is anyone planing on coming down before tuesday? I will be there on fridaynight unless I have to go trick or treating with my soon to be daughter.
-
Question: Is small game hunting covered by the non-res hunting liscence, or is there a seperate tag similiar to the deer tag?
-
Are you getting the full year non res licence? If so everything is covered except fur barrers that you would normally trap. You can shoot rabbits squirrels quail phesant ground hawgs grouse dove wild hogs coyote and (crow on fri sat sun). you can hunt all of those with just your license. Deer turkey waterfowl and furbearing animals all require tags or permits.
-
Yes Irish I will most likely be bringing the dog this year. Miranda is fine, She is 11 now and starting to get into girl stuff. She still loves to shoot her bow but has lots of other things as well. I think I liked it better when it was all mudd and toads but I still come home from work and find her that way in the back yard sometimes. Wont be too much longer before its; really dad?, ewww
-
Celtic, is there a cheaper, certain time period liscence? I checked the DNR page and the 3day (tourist) liscence wasn't good for deer.
-
not that I know of. We really need to do something about that. I hope the price doesn't deture you from coming. If there is anything else I can help with give me a hollar.
Drummer just keep focused on the fact that she is going to be talking to boys soon. If you can just keep them away and her away from them for the rest of your life you'll be okay. Best bet is to just tell her that all they want to do is kill her and sell her organs on the black market. Yeah that should do just fine. LMAO
-
No, I had planned on the Non-res liscence, but the way you phrased your comment I thought I was missing another kind of liscence.
-
nope just need your non res license. only need tags or permits for fur bearers, deer turkey or waterfowl. whish are all pretty cheap.
-
Hunting in Ohio is a pretty decent deal compared to other states.
I finally finished all the wood splitting and backfilling. Everything on my body hurts, but at least I'm breathing. 7 hours of splitting/stacking today and 8 hours of hauling and shoveling yesterday.
Now I can focus on getting those maps out, buying my deer tag, fletching some arrows, shootin, gluing up broadheads and some quick scouting! I'm ready for Saturday to get here and even more ready for November. :saywhat:
-
GOOD THATS WHAT I"M GONNA DO WITH MY SOON TO BE DAUGHTER!
-
drummer - that pic of the deer target looks like something off the Simmons shark site
-
Really??? they have crappy old 3-d targets with no legs there too? I hate to disappoint you fella's but your girls are way too smart for that. Trust me!!
-
not if they are locked in the basement!!!!
-
Hi all the last i heard from Vern was a couple of months ago. he talked bout go n again but had a tron rotator cuff haven't heard from him since.
-
Any of you Ohio guys had any luck?
-
I haven't been out yet, I thought about scouting this weekend but I need to prepare for some interviews next week. Hopefully I can get a job and declare resident when I buy my tags ;)
-
Our season opens tomorrow :archer2:
-
I'm sittin in the woods right now. Every body say a little prayer that I get to shoot at somethin. Having a good morning so far. Set my alarm wrong didn't get any breakfast, slept on a half deflated air mattress and forgot my glove in camp. Lol got to love opening day. Good Luck yall.
-

My son made it out this morning and saw crowds of hunters (including some goober that staggered in at first light, walked all over the place with his clanky stand and set up 30 yards from him).
No deer though. Opening day is usually a bit of a mess (unless it's crap weather like last year). It'll improve.
-
Yea I didnt go out either, still a bit warm and opening day sometimes is a bit scary. I mite sneek out to a secret spot in the morning tho.
-
Went out in the morning Sat and didn't see anything other than squirrels. I did see four deer in the evening on Saturday.
Before I went out for the evening hunt, I made a successful shot on a groundhog out by my shed. He still got back to his hole, but didn't take the arrow with him. That was a 35-40 yard shot, so I was feeling confident shooting wise for deer hunting last night! Not sure when I'm getting back out, but want to head down to AEP for a weekend.....
-
Charlie ! this ;) will be your Year!
-
Thanks Mike! Not sure if I will be able to get down for the squirrel hunt, but I sure would like to. My daughter is cheerleading for peewee football games every Sat at noon until mid-October. I might sneak down for the afternoon and some of Sunday. Hope you are doing well.
-
Opening day evening, Guernsey County, OH. Home made long bow, gold tip traditional shafts and Magnus 2 blade heads.

Cool, Brian!
-
well opening weekend sucked for me. went out saturday morning only saw a doe that saw me first. Went out saturday night and couldn't stop coughing and sneezing so went back after a lil over an hour. Didn't even get out of the tent sunday. Felt horrible and have been sick ever since. Gotta love a sinus infection. I am going out this weekend hopefully to cumberland.
-
Sorry to hear it Irish. I'm hoping to get out to AEP at some point and maybe have some scouting reports for ya'all before camp.
Also, the shirts are in! Will pick up shortly.
-
Congrats Brian!
-
Congrats Brian on the opening day doe !!!
-
Charlie you wanna go this weekend?
-
Hey bow mofo I'm not going to be able to make it for the squirrel hunt. I got last years and this years dates mixed up. I have a wedding that weekend. Sorry.
-
Can't make it this weekend Irish. Amy has our weekend planned! we'll see when I can get down there.
Had a clean miss on a doe at about 17 yrds last night. Made every mistake in the book. She was moving faster than I thought, never picked a spot and short drew. Missed behind her butt.... :banghead:
Maps are coming shortly.
-
Bummer on the miss Charlie. It'll be a lot better in camp to tell of your misses when everybody will try to cheer you up. :smileystooges: Will be looking for the map.
-
cheer you up, you mean razz you to death. Lol just kidding. Can't wait till camp.
-
I think it involves something with shirttails as well! :bigsmyl:
-
Matt you are Forgiven!
But you will be missed!
-
did you still want those shafts mike?
-
Hey can we get a list of deffenit people coming?
I am for sure. Already took my vacation time off 2 months ago.
-
I don't have any vacation left, but I'm trying to work something out with my boss. Worst case I'll be there by Friday afternoon.
Side note, it looked like today was the perfect morning to fill a tag, hopefully someone here is dragging out a tasty animal about now :)
-
I'm 99% sure.
Magnus
-
i had a small buck at 35 yards and saw a glimps of a doe beside me that never rounded the brush and shaved a ferrel cat and lost a good arrow doing it.
-
i'll b there. wouldn't miss it.
-
As long as nothing changes I'll be there as well
-
I'll be there.

Way to go Morgan, those local girls look tasty!

Good lookin' Morgan. Hopefully we have lots of pics like that at camp!

Morgan - nice work!
Matt - so what's the scoop? We prayed for you tonight at prayer meeting, man.
-
Well I'm not as close death as I thought. I have to have an outpatient surgery and miss a few days of work "Damn" but I'll be aok after that. Thanks again for your prayers, just shows that prayer is awesome.
-
Glad to hear that Matt. Power of prayer!!

-
Good deal Matt. Glad to hear it.
-
Great news, Matt!
-
Great news Matt!
Morgan, is there gonna be any left for the rest of us by November? :)
Seriously congrats! That point growing back over the ear is very distinctive!
-
If only the good die young I guess we'll live forever!
-
Glad your not gonna die Irish...who would have done my next set of arrows lol but seriously glad it's nothing major major

-
November 3rd-7th. For those who didn't make the squirrel hunt!
-
Morgan ! nice to hang with you :campfire: at the GOSH I may have a few of your arrows from the star light shoot :archer2:
-
Good deal... I had to track some deer for friends on Sunday and could'nt make it back down.
-
The deer are definatly winning....perfect placement tight behind the shoulder good blood just no dead deer at the end...well shes dead somewhere just not at the end of the blood trail.
-
Counting the days. Can't wait! Plus it's a vacation! Hopefully I will be able to do some hunting during my recovery time after my surgery. Lol but seriously
-
Levi,
It happens to everyone. Hang in there and just worry about finding the next one. I didn't even hit the doe I made a shot on.....
-
Charlie, I got the map, thanks. Can't wait to get into that unscouted area.
-
new to the gang here is anyone welcome or invite only
-
You are welcome to come on down.
VT'er,
I started to venture in the unscouted area once and kicked out an enormous buck. I got turned around and lost pretty quick. Never went back up in there. If I had a compass or GPS I might be willing to go back in.....
Also, if you travel in the dark, be SUPER careful. Most of the ponds have huge dropoffs or high walls all around. High enough to kill you.
-
You say high walls.........hmmm...we only have to worry about getting stomped by a moose "lookin' for love" here.
BTW, what's the soil type in the campground. Is it tent peg friendly? Also any ideas where the closest propane refill place would be?
-
Hope you can make it deercraver! We love new people. You ever do a camp hunt? It's a blast. Someone remind me to bring the kill of the year award! It's up on my book case. Lol
-
Your tent pegs will be fine. I'm not joking about the dropoffs..... I wouldn't walk into an area I didn't know in the dark. Especially in the area you want to hunt. Wait until there is at least some amount of light, even if it is just basic shadows.
-

Lol - that's right! Don't forget that, man. :-D
-
The deer are everywhere you look! it was hard to hunt squirrels when the deer are so active!
-
I think I have3cvthem figured out! :D
-
I have not done a camp hunt i wish i would have seen this a little sooner but i will try my best im only an hour north of the ohio border i can make it a weekend thing if i cant come for the whole thing
-
I'm useually only down for the week end to. Unless I'm laid off by then, ugg. :banghead: Come down and have fun. Its a good place to hunt and we have lots of fun.
-
The closest propane place would probably be cambridge. I'll have to ask my buddy who lives around there.
-
Been watching this thread and it sounds like a fun time.
I hope to make it down on Friday evening (I wish my boss was a bowhunter and then he wouldn't schedule a two day sales meeting on Thursday and Friday during the rut).
I may end up spending Sunday and Monday night also.
-
Charlie, I know you weren't joking about the high walls and I won't be walking in the dark without doing some daylight scouting. I might be a trad bowhunter but I'm not stupid. :bigsmyl:
-
Little butterball buck came in near last light. I think he is a year and a half old. I shot him a bit back and left him until the morning. I did not try to trail him. Anyway I gotta go track him in the morning. I'll fill you all in when I can. This will be my first trad buck.
I hope it is an easy trail.
-
Go get him, Charlie!
-
Good luck Charlie.... Keep us posted.
-
Well??? Anything yet Charlie? Whereabouts is this hunt taking place in Ohio? It would be kinda interesting to come down there to hunt some of those Big bucks that you guys shoot down there.
-
It is on the eastern side of the state just south of cumberland by about six miles. If you really are interested, pm me and I can get you all the info you need.
-
No blood. No hair. No arrow. No deer. I am torn to shreds after going into the briars and following every trail for 4 hours. I knew his direction of travel for the first 25 yards and not a single thing after that. I only knew that much because I saw where he ran into the brush.
Why in the hell can I use the same arrow and broadhead two hours previously on my 3D target and hit perfectly in the vitals? Then I get in my stand and shoot to the left on the deer. This is the second time in 3 hunts this has happened.
The first was a clean miss and this one wounded him. I do think I saw him running off into the corn across the field this morning, but can't be sure. There was no blood heading over to the corn either and that deer looked fine.
I can only guess I am short drawing when I get excited shooting at a live deer? This should not have been a hard shot. Like I said, I made this exact same shot with the exact same arrow and broad head perfectly 2 hours earlier on my 3D.
If the buck I saw running was him then I have to assume he is fine, but this is getting rediculous.
-
Sorry to hear it buddy. I was really rooting for you especially considering the bad luck that has pleged you for a while. I really hope you go back and look again. Just to double check. I'mm prayin you find it.
-
They move, man. It happens and it sucks. The one I killed last year took a step after I dropped the string and ended up taking a gut hit. She bled little if any and carried the arrow into the thickest crap in the area. We never would have found her if not for Dylan walking a grid back in that stuff.
-
I did an up and back and then back and forth search(grid). I also walked cocentric circles. There are a few areas I could not get into since they are private property and I have VERY CLEAR instructions to stay out. Most everyone else is okay with me hunting local, but this one lady and her family are very obstinent. I honestly don't know where else to look. Penetration seemed good at the time..... I'll have a look around again this evening. You never can tell, although the meat would be spoiled by now.
-
Don't worry about the meat spoilage. People used to hang deer from the rafters of their barns to age meat. i wouldn't freak about the meat. if you find it get it as cold as possible as fast as possible. if it died last night it frosted last night so it was deffinetly cold.
-
Do you have access to a tracking dog? Sometimes a pet can even find a wounded deer. Good luck and don't beat yourself up. It happens. It's not fun but it happens.
Keeping the Faith!
Magnus
-
Went back out and looked again this evening. Looked at some fence rows I had forgotten to check and a thicket out in a field. No luck. Deer are everywhere in the area again tonight. I will leave the area unhunted for a week or so since I have stunk it up so bad. Kicked out a really nice 3 1/2 year old 8 point buck. I even drove all the local roads listening for coyotes and looking for vultures/crows.
Nothing.
Maybe I can take my dog over there tomorrow after work.
-
Sorry man. That stinks.
-
your avatar said it all!
-
Whose avatar? Jim's?
-
2 weeks away try n to get things in order around here cant wait. anybody plan on stay n longer.
-
I'm' looking forward to seeing you Jim! :D
-
bg, if I make it down, I may be staying at least Sunday night.
-
yes Mike look n foward to seeing u again. Is your whole gang coming down this year. Sorry i missed your shoots this year been working lots to be able to get hunting time off.
Somers ill plan on staying till then can stay till monday ar tue.
-
I am still planning on Tues night to Sun morning. Have to leave by 10 am Sunday since my daughter has a banquet I didn't know about until the other day. Can't wait to see you all. I will get the signs mnade up shortly. They will hopefully hold up better than the previous years!
Jim and Tony,
Can you guys put up a sign or two when you get there? I think Greg (VT'er) may beat me there Tuesday and I don't want him getting lost. Not that you would Greg.
-
Hey jim and tony. I will be setting up the saturday before. When will yall be there?
-
Matt i will either b down there tue or wed. but can stay till the following tue. whish i could b there earlier have to work tue.
-
Irish,
Can you bring a sign or two to help those that come earlier than me. Be there Tuesday night.
Had a poacher come into my local hunting spot tonight. He left in a hurry when he saw me, but left his stand up in the tree. I have to check with the farmer to be sure, but no one is supposed to be in there except me. That stand is headed for the police station ASAP.
-
During our squirrel hunt we had done quite a bit of scouting, the general condenses was this would be a great Deer season! can't wait!
-
yeah I'll see what I can do. Have alot to get together before then. I only have 33.5 hours until my surgery. Not very excited. I 'm trying to get a new dozen arrows done before the hunt and half a dozen grizzlys sharpened, so that should keep me busy. I got my wood burning stove for my tent today and am excited to use it.
-
Remember bring plenty of food for those who may be short, or only bring hot dogs and pringles, Charlie! LOL Not it's just nice to be able to share a meal from time to time.
-
I gotta see what the wife is fixin for me to bring this year. Her food don't seem to last long.
-
I'll bring real food this time! I just like hunting, not cooking and cleaning. I do tons of that at home. I guess I can suffer through a bit of it this year. Matt is the real chef, but I will have to coddle him with his bad ticker! :biglaugh:
Anyway, we'll all have plenty enough to eat cuz I got my shooting issues squared away. It seems that you can't just forget everything that is important about shooting your bow when deer show up and expect good results. I am now sending practice shots out of my stand as soon as I get up and it has helped a million percent. I likely woulda had one dead to rights Saturday if not for that stinking poacher.
-
well I'm out of the hospital and have been sleeping most of the day. I am sore and not very mobile.
Charlie I will probably be down this weekend. I may have to ask you to help me set up the majority of my camp because i'm not supposed to lift anything heavy.
I'm gonna try to get the majority of my stuff finsih in the next 2 days.
-
Matt,
Glad to hear all went well. Are you planning on staying from this weekend through next? Call me about details.
-
If anyone wants to come down this weekend get a hold of me ASAP. I would like to come down Friday to set up my stuff and hunt all day Saturday plus Sunday morning. I don't, however, want to leave any of my gear unattended for Sunday afternoon, all day Monday and most of Tuesday until I get back to camp. If someone is there, I will set up and leave some of my stuff.
Depending on what responses I get, we may open camp earlier than I thought!
FYI: I will not be able to be in camp Sun afternoon through Tues evening.
My number is 614-209-8568 if you want to set something up for coming early. You can call anytime between 4pm and 9:15pm.
:campfire:
-
Anyone planning on making it down this weekend? I could use some company sunday night thru tuesday morning.
-
Sorry Matt whish i could but have to work tue morning. plan on b n donw there wed around 12.
-
Where will I be able to buy a hunting liscence, Cumberland?
Can someone double check the water situation there this weekend at that pump?
-
:( I really wanted to come on this hunt but, personal and financial issues have arose that are beyond my control. If my situation changes I may show up for a day or two but it don't look good at this point.
Thank you all and best of luck to the group. Be sure to take pics and post them so I may live vicariously through your adventures! :saywhat:
-
Hey VTer, try this link out and see if any of these are along your route: Licensing (http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/dow/regulations/vendors.aspx?zip=Zip%20Code&city=City&county=guernsey)
(Edit - probably not going to make it out this afternoon afterall.)
Sorry to see your post Osagetree, hopefully things turn favorable and you can make it for that day or two!
-
Thanks Sticks, looks like Wal-mart will work. BTW, is there Sunday hunting?
-
... aaaand it looks as though Dylan and I will be spending less time there than planned. He works and has school Thursday, has an event w/ the USMC on Saturday and may have to work part of the day Friday.
We may get there in time for a short hunt Friday evening and dinner / campfire but not much more than that.
-
vter, yes you can hunt 7 days a week. I don't know what I'm doing yet. Got caught in the tornado tuesday and rolled my semi. I'm still pretty sore. I'll be there but don't know when or how long. Dad is wanting to go down to. He's 82 so don't know how that will work out. I love spending time with him.
He just bought me a primos vision blind so he can go.

Buckeye hunter aka charlie and I are already here and hunting. I'm still pretty beat up from my surgery. I saved you room for your tent tony. Well I'm sorry to here some of you won't be able to make it or won't be able to spend as much time as hoped. Hope things change for the better
-
Are you guys having warmer than normal temps out there right now? The 10 day forcast looks real nice for camping  Getting stuff together to throw in the truck in the next day. I decide to scale down my campsite and bring my smaller tent to save on weight and set-up time. I'm not sure I'll make it there with daylight so I might end up sleeping in my truck the 1st night.
-
BTW, what's the cell service like and Charlie, is that your cell or house #?
-
Cell service in and near camp is nonexistent.
-
We've had some pretty cold nights in the past. This year it looks like low 30s at night and 50s in the day. Not too bad.
-
Weather is about average for the hunt, cold mornings warm afternoons and decent night. That is charlies cell. If you need to reach him I would try sometine tonight or anytime after 4 mon or tues. Cell service in camp is nonexistant have to go on the big hill. Vter if you don't get down in time to set up you can throw your cot in my big tent with me. I have a wood burning stove. I'll only be checking this maybe twice a day so I'll try to answer any ?'S as soon as I can. I would post a pic but don't think I could do it from my phone even if I really wanted to. See yall soon.
-
Thanks for the tent offer Celtic. I am still wondering about the water pump? I'd hate to lug a bunch of water from VT for nothing.
-
Vter. I will check on it tonight. If you have a water jug you can bring I have a friend who lives about 7 miles away that I could get water from. I have a 6 gallon jug. But I'll check the pump as soon as I get back tonight. Vter when are you headed down this way?
-
I will be leaving 3ish early tuesday morning. I am planning on bringing a jug, but if you could check the pump tonight, that would be great.
-
To everyone. You may want to bring a boom stick that flings shot. I jumped 3 roughed grouse today. They came into season oct 9th. Woo hoo! Something to do in between deer hunting. Lol
-
Vter I checked the water, it's very rusty tasting but other than that seems fine to me. I have used it in the past. Bring your water jug though and I'll fill it up at my buddies place or we can just use mine.
-
First morning had 8 deer near my stand. Shoulda had a doe, but made a rookie mistake. Will post some pics tomorrow early as I can.
-
Thanks Matt! Charlie, looking forward to pics. Got to go to work today and pack when I get home, but I'll check in before I leave.
-
Well I saw 3 bucks and 2 does this morning and 2 of the bucks were with in 15 yards but stupid me had to go get ancy and went to the struck to get my .22 to shoot the bajillion squirrels around me. Well on the way back to where I was sitting I ran into a small 6 pointer who seemed rather confused as to why we were both walking in the same field. Then a little later I had a very small spike that split come up the hill right next to me. So good morning.

Never saw ya for the campfire bowmofo. Had a good time,as usual. Completely beat and ready to lay in my bed and sleep! So I'm gonna head there. Ya'll have a good night.
-
Dylan and I made it out for a very brief and ineffective hunt but more importantly for an outstanding bit of campfire time. Wish we could have been there longer!
Charlie - thanks for putting this together again. BTW - Dylan should have had a large not an xl - wanna PM me w/ addy and we can exchange via mail?
-
Sorry I couldn't make the trip! :banghead:
-
Jim,
Send me Dylan's XL shirt and I'll get that large out to you. Sorry. Thanks for coming out.
-
Mike,
We didn't have tons of people show, but the hunting was excellent this week. I passed a doe that I felt uncomfortable(choked to be honest) taking a shot at and missed another doe. Shot just under her belly. I saw the buck of a lifetime and a bunch of other deer including a decent 8 pointer. I was at half draw on a button buck, but his mommy busted me and he jumped out of shooting range.
Without my screw ups I should have shot 6 different deer this week. The chances were endless and my mistakes were too..... I even have video on my phone of some of the deer. If I can find a way to download I will.
-
I got home around 4:30, old time. I'll deal with the new time and posting some pics tomorrow.
-
It was great to meet you Greg. You are welcome back next year!
-
I didnt get to stay long this year but it sure was nice to see everyone.

BTW, I still want to know what these red berries are?
-
You know when I saw those in your hat the other day I was sure they looked like Dogwood berries. Now I'm not sure, maybe someone will know :dunno:
-
No idea, but I'll check and see if I can find out.....
The best I can figure from my searches is Red Sumac. It can grow as a plant or shrub. The berries are only poisonous in mass quantities for humans.
-
So what your saying is if some are eaten and you begin to not feel well then one should lie down next to the source so others may know not to eat them. I think I'll pass
-
That's funny Drummer
-
I was hoping you would volunteer Don. Damn!
:saywhat:
-

Well I see I missed out on a good time. Wish I could have made it this year. It would have made three years in a row. My boys football team won all their games except for the last one, the championship, :( Are there any more pictures to be posted? I would love to see them. It's good to hear that you guys were seeing lots of deer.
Charlie could you put my shirt in the mail?
-
I didn't see anybody else using a camera but I know Charlie got some cell phone footage of some brown blurs.
-

Sorry Mike it wouldn't work. When uploading from my phone to photobucket the videos wouldn't show up. Said it was in the wrong format??
-
so you seen anything yet charlie. Did anyone find a silver mag light. I can;t find mind.
-
Matt,
Saw 5 deer the other night, but nothing in shooting range. Didn't see anything this last Saturday and didn't get out Sunday. Might go out tonight after work. I did post some pics and a video of a squirrel that hung out with me for the afternoon in a different thread.
-
BTW, those berries are called Bitter Sweet. They are not for eating but make attractive fall decorations.
Glad you all had a good time together, even if no deer were taken.
-
NOT FOR EATING!!!! hear that chuckels?? I knew you were setin me up
-
I hear ya Drummer.... Give me time, that wasn't even my best idea for your demise! :smileystooges:
You just wait till..... :saywhat:

Looks like house hunting is going to kill off my hunting season this year. Gonna try to get out all weekend of thanksgiving, including thanks giving day. I'm loyal to hunting not and give thanks that I can spend my day doing it. LOL
