it was still raining in the afternoon so i couldn't go for a hunt like i planned so i went and chipped out another point.

this one is obsidian with a few streaks of black and mahogany obsidian through it. makes for a pretty point. this one is a bit bigger and weighs in at 153gr.

Looking good. I have yet to knap anything from spalls, but looks like you are getting consistent to me. Nice heads.

You’re doing more then I am. It’s been raining about 8 hours strait and all I can do is set here with my face pressed against the window hoping it stops.
Those are some nice looking heads. I tried it once and all I came up with is broken rocks

Nice options for a rainy day, but why not hunt?  If I only hunted in the sun I would never hunt where I live.

Tricia and I area headed to OZ next July / Aug so I am curious if the soil type prevents travel or some other reason for not hunting in the rain?

I made a large spear head out of obsidian during a snow storm.  It turned out pretty nice, but I got cut a couple of times.  Now I just chase the wife around the house.

forge- it is as wet as it has ever been in my neck of the woods at the moment. not much bush driving at present!
however yesterday i would have been targeting rabbits and they are sensible and stay underground where it's dry.

Nice points Clint! That obsidian sure makes a beautiful point, and that dacite isn't as pretty, but it sure looks deadly. I'd be proud to tie either one on an arrow and then go find something to use them on. Good rainy day activity for sure.

Anybody else see a smiley-face Indian in the base of that backlit obsidian head?
