Tried several when I was first joining, however every one I chose had already been taken. I must not have been very creative.
I just knew I wanted to be an active contributing member of this group and chose 'Friend'.
-
Im lacking a little in the creativity dept my darn self. champ38 has nothing to do with my shooting, winning etc, , its just my last name and age.
-
Well I use USMC 82-86 on another site and tried to use it here. But it seemed some or all was in use and since I was born and raised in South Carolina I went with S.C. Hunter. It's where I started hunting and it will always be home in my heart.

There were a few Keith's on here already. I would have felt bad if some thought they were me.
I'm from Oklahoma. so OkKeith worked.

Mine is a common name for a movement of music from Renaissance lute suites.
-
I always have a hard time coming up with something creative for a name. When I worked in a parts department for caterpillar there was an order next to me for the 57Loader. Which is a 994F Wheel Loader that can pick up your house in one scoop. My screen name is the same on about 4 different forums since that day.

Mine was easy.
I was an active duty Marine for 22 years.
I have been bowhunting for 40+ years, started when I returned from VietNam.

I'm an avid trapper and make all my own lures and baits. One day me and my family were fishing at Pymatuning Lake for carp without any luck. There was a gentleman and his wife fishing right beside us pulling 10 pounders in one after another. I asked him what he was going to do with them since he had about 6 of them in this huge cooler and was letting the rest go. He said he was going to eat them and he didn't have room in his cooler for any more. I then asked him if he caught anymore (since I stink at catching fish) could I have some? He said sure but what did I want them for and I said coon bait. He gave me 2 really nice ones that he had just caught and I thanked him over and over. I turned to show my wife the big carp the man gave me and her and the boys were heading to the truck. I carried the fish and all of the fishing tackle back to the truck myself. I get back to the truck and ask my wife why and the world would she leave me there to lug all of our stuff, and she said she didn't want the boys to see me get punched in the mouth! Women?

When I was a kid growing up on the farm, a man's word was good. Or, he was straight as a string. Straight era is naturally a play on straight arrow.
-
Always loved the screech of a red tailed hawk to break the silence when hunting.

Mine came when I was doing some living history of the 1840's. A good friend of mine is living history interpretor at the Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton, OK. One weekend they were having a rendevous to educate the public and I was volunteering. Some of the guys there asked me what my camp name was and I said I didn't have one. I bought a new clay pipe that friday and broke the stem several times while holding it in my teeth. By sunday the bowl was mighty close to my face and everyone in camp was calling me "Claypipe" and it stuck. Every time I go to the museum to help out, I am Claypipe to all.

There was a old timer wrestler named Igor Putski who claimed to be the strongest man in the world. I was a young man and was throwing 150lbs kegs of spikes on a truck by myself (I weighed about 160lbs) and one of the crew called me Igor and it stuck.

My callsign from an all expenses paid vacation to southeast Asia many years ago.

My dad always said "Boy! If you don't(whatever) your name is Mudd" or "Boy! If you do(whatever) your name is Mudd" but the one I feared most was "Boy! I will stomp a Muddhole in you and walk it dry!"
So when folks asked me my name I'd reply "About half the time it's Mudd." It's been my handle ever since and the only one I use everywhere.
I think the only person who doesn't call me Mudd is my wife but there are times I wish she would, it would be a lot nicer than the name she uses instead...lol
God bless,Mudd

Mine has nothing to do with archery. I work in the Computer Security field. Back in the darkages; users would be given account names that were eight characters in length. First inital and seven of the last name. I have kept that format for the most part.

Did you ever make it up to the Maple Flag exercise at 4 Wing, Cold Lake, Alberta?
-
Well we are still on here so I am guessing this to be an appropriate thread. I was shocked and gratified to see so many responses when I checked this morning.
I got my name when I went to be a vice principal in a Northern Alberta native community.
The principal and the board member who were responsible for hiring me over the phone are both firearms safety instructors. In their instructors training they had been frequently cautioned to ensure that everyone taking the course knew not to use smokeless powder in damascus shotgun barrels.
Andy, the principal, asked all of us new staff to email a picture for a newsletter. We had talked on the phone and he knew that like him I am an avid hunter and shooter.
When he and John, the board member, were looking at my picture John turned to Andy and said, "I wonder if that old guy (actually I was a youthful
54 at the time)has any damascus barrels".
When I finally met them they told me the story and the name stuck.

Mine came off a bag of chewing tobacco. Oh well!!

when i first got on the internet and found hunting websites, i was running a little guiding outfit for baited blackbears.....it was call Bears East Adventures....so that was my user name....but i found it too long, and so did folks when they were referring , or, talking to me....and somehow it just got shortened to bea, which indicated bears east adventures....

I love fly fishing and chasing those tough hatches.
-
Mine comes from learning to shoot and not having an arm guard!
Funny now i don't use a guard and never hit my arm.
-
Like many of you here I'm simply "wild about bows" so I picked this handle back in the 1990's when I first started visiting forums on KYHunting.com and the Bowsite. I abandoned all these forums for several years after tiring of the bickering and mean-spiritedness.
One day I was on the steps of the Capitol in Washington D.C. and someone hollered out "Bowwild"! I didn't even know this person visited such forums but he knew me from there.
Weird.
-
Mine came from my paternal grandmother, she was half Cherokee and when she visited she saw me feed a crow that used to come around beggin for scraps. When I'd give him some bread I would talk real soft to him. She gave me the name "Boy talking with crow". I shortened it to crow and added my initials.

I wish there were about 3 billion folks on the planet with your identical handle!

I'm Mexican, German and Irish, but have my Hispanic skin color, any ways my uncle from my German side got me into bowhunting, and one year i killed 6 deer with my bow and while tracking one he said " we are going to call you GreatBrownKnockemDown!' and it stuck!!

I am an Okie but worked in northern Missouri (which is a hunting and fishing paradise) for 8 years then moved back to Oklahoma when I entered my user name I forgot to capitalize the M and second O and ended up with mookie instead of MoOkie.
-
Mine actually has nothing to do with hunting. It came from my highschool football coach. As a offensive guard sometimes I had to poll and one time I really took out a guy. When I got back to the sidelines the line coach hit me on the pads and said " You took him out like a bull moose man!" After that some of the other players started calling me mooseman and it just kinda stuck.
-
Oh and mooseman is already on some forums so I stuck my birthyear on the end.
-
I live in California and I like my bow.
Plus it's only 6 letters which works well with my lack of typing skills.
-
I like mustard and biscuits. Just not together. Reference to movie "Slingblade". I like flingin' arrows; particularly when there is a blade on the end and I'm out there after the critters.

Actually pretty impressive. Try to get that one today and you would be Tom4623 at best.

Well my last name is Milano and a friend started calling me Mint because of the cookies and it stuck. Of course when I was hunting with Fred Eichler and my friend called me that he had to change to just "Cookie" and his wife Michelle had to announce that at the Muzzy Shoot so some people call me "cookie" now. I'll get him back one day.

-
my Mom gave it to me.
-
The trapper part is pretty obvious. "zeke" is not my real name, but a future good friend in college misheard my name (steve) when we were first introduced, and kept calling me that and I never corrected him. My other friends decided it fit my outdoorsman and living history hobbies, and I liked the uniqueness compared to my more common real name, so it stuck.

I have had the nick name Guido for Years, In 1996 I moved to a town in New Jersey called Mystic Islands. That is when I added Mystic to Guido to get mysticguido.
