The Centaur by Jim Neaves and the Cari-Bow Peregrine by Abe...
I've shot the centaur more than any other bow out there and truley like it... But I've been curious about the Cari-bow Peregrine.
I would like to hear from you guys who have shot both or own both and see your comparisons...

I wish one of them made it in a 64'. I know they don't need to, but I just like the feel of a 64' bow...

I have had 4 Centaurs.My favorite was a 60" all glass model.I would like to get that one back.
I think the 2 bows are somewhat similar with thier agressive limb design.But certailnly not identical.I dont think any bow is as reflexed as those two in my experience.
The Cari-bow has the thumbrest thats different than the Centaurs I have owned.
They both draw nice and shoot sweet with high end performace.You dont need a chronograph to know these bows are especially fast when you shoot them.
No sense in comparing craftsmanship.Both are 1st rate.Jim Kneaves is a real pleasure to deal with as you know.I never bought a bow 1st hand from Cari-Bow.Splendid looking bows for sure.
I think the Peregrine is right thier on the same level as far as performance as the Centaur personally.It may not be quite as quiet as a centaur IMO.But I did not have the time to tune it like I normally would through experimentation.I played with it a bit.But did not have the time to really dial it in.The Peregrine really smokes an arrow.Thier is no question.
My Peregrine was 62 inches and 3 of my centaurs were 62 and one was 60".
I was shooting CX heritage 250s out of the Perigrine with 200 grains up front.It was 53#s at my 30 inch draw.They really hammered the target impressively.I wanted to try some CX Heritage 350s loaded with 250 to 300 or more grains up front with it.But sold the bow because I had chosen my hunting bow for this season and needed the cash.I think these 350s may have been the ticket to getting it very quiet and actually slowing the beast down a tad to have similar trajectory to my other bows.Its Fast!
In short 2 well crafted impressive weapons with top end performance that would be hard to surpass.

wow...a centaur in 64-66" would be awesome.cant wait to get mine,its almost done. :pray: :jumper:

i have a couple of Peregrines and one Centaur...all are 62 inches long. i agree with everything Steelhead said. i would add that the Peregrine (to me) is a little more sensitive to brace height compared to the Centaur as far as quietness goes. The Peregrine is the bow i take with me to the woods. Both are great bows!

Which one has more mass weight? Or, are they about the same?

i would say the Peregrine is slightly heavier. The Centaur has a thicker grip than the Peregrine. That is a subjective measurement as far as weight goes cause i haven't put them on a scale.

I just spent about 45 minutes on the phone with Abe Penner this morning and I can assure this is one first class individual. I have not shot one of his bows, but I would buy one without even shooting it. If he does not have what you want in stock you are looking at a 7 month wait.
I did buy a Centaur yesterday or the day before, but am going to have to back out of the deal cause I bought an ACS this morning and I cannot afford both. The ACS limbs cost more than the whole Chimera.
If you want a Chimera at I think 48 pounds you can have one this week from Dennis at git-r-done archery. I think he will be away until Tuesday and you can call him at 1-403-374-2191.
That bow is only a 60 incher and it shot just fine with my 30 inch draw 3 fingers under. I have never shot a bow that pointed as naturally for me.

My ACS will be my favourite length of 5 feet 6 inches with a sixteen inch riser, not a great length for hunting but this will be my go to bow for 3D anyway with truly gorgeous snake skin overlaid limbs at 41 pounds. Should be able to shoot it all day without fatigue.
If I need to shoot a shorter bow I have a Martin Lynx recurve that should have gone in the mail yesterday. It is 62 inches AMO. From the pics it looks virtually unused.
And btw way you mean a 64" bow, not 64 foot.
