Asked this before but couldn't find the thread. Fixing to order a fletching jig to feather my own arrows.
I am right handed and shoot screw in points do I need a right or left helical jig?

personaly i dont think it makes a difference. imo

Threads should be right-hand (clockwise to tighten), so the arrow that spins to the right will tighten rather than loosening the heads. You can use right wing feathers, or put a drop of Lock Tite on the threads. Bowstring wax will also work. If you use the thread lock, be sure it is the type you can break loose if you want to change the points.

No difference what so ever. I sometimes even carry a couple of each (LH & RH) when shooting a 3D course and can't tell any difference between the two.

Being right or left handed doesn't matter which feathers you use.
Hud has a good point about tightening the points, though. Or, as he mentioned, just use some Lock Tite.

Doesn't matter. It's an old wives tale. Shoot what you like (in my case what's cheapest). Just don't put two different fletching on one arrow, fletch them with all right wing or left wing , which ever you decide to use.

It doesnt matter but there seems to be a better selection of left wing fletching available if that is something that you might be interested in.

I'm RH and shoot both LW and RW feathers on my arrows.I don't think it matters at all,I just don't mix them on the same arrows.I shoot both because I buy the good deals on feathers when they come up.

I didn't notice any difference between RW and LW feathers in my shooting, and I'm right handed. I just prefer to fletch RW feathers because it's easier for me. Left wing feathers are a real pain in the @$$ for me and I absolutely hate fletching them.
I'd say go with what you prefer and don't look back, become proficient with what ever you decide to go with because that's what really counts.
I might also suggest that you get the RW and LW clamps for your jig if they are available without paying more. You never know when you may decide that you want to try the other way and see how that goes.

Ya know... we always say, "just don't use both wings on the same arrow."
But what if we did?
I want to make an arrow that pulls a hard turn to port or starboard and sweeps across the range from one side to the other.
Then I'll walk over to the nearest wheelie shooter who saw that arrow whip past his target and ask him, "do you think it's my release?"

Only other thing to keep in mind if that if you decide to use single bevel broadheads they need to be the same as the feathers RW with RW etc. Other wise th ebroadhead will try to spin the arrow in the opposite direction the feathers are working.
I shoot RW sgl bevel and 3" RW straight fletch with no problems what so ever.

It has been my experience that, RW and LW shot the same out of my bows. I shoot LW because someone told me years ago that LW will give a right-handed shooter more shelf clearence. I do not believe one shoots better than the other. When it comes to fletching jigs, I think that Bitzenberger's are the absolute best.

You must use a right hand jig for right hand feathers and a left hand jig for right hand feathers. Do not order right hand feathers if you have a left jig.

I think John made a typo and meant to say use a right jig for right hand and a left jig for left hand. Don't use both jigs for right hand feathers.

You older guys might remember the old Koplan broad heads with the offset blades. Question, if you fletched your arrows the oposite direction then the broadhead could unscrew and fall off in flight. Maybe that is why I missed so many deer back in the day????????
