I have an opportunity to pick up a bow tillered for three under when it was built. I shoot split and I'm open to trying 3 under, but I'm more concerned about learning what goes into the construction of the bow that make it better to shoot 3 under and if that same construction would make the bow not shootable split?

Do some searches it's all here.

someone correct me but if your shooting a bow split fingered that is tillered for 3 under you will get a very high string nock point after tuning to compensate for that little extra poundage still left on the bottom limb (which would of tillered equal load if 3 under) I also heard that they can be noisy.. but i also heard they can shoot very good too...

Back when I was collecting I would often get bows tillered one way or the other, and at different periods I shot both ways. I never worried about it, just raised the nock if it was tillered split and I was shooting 3 under, or vice versa. I never found it that critical. A year or so ago I built a set of bows that tillered negative, neutral and positive and shot them all both ways. It affected the tuning, but not really the overall performance of the bow that I could see. Of course, I didn't make the Olympic team, either....

A bow tillered 3 under will have a low nock point, 1/4" or less if shot split finger. 3/8-1/2" if 3 under. As far as noise, I don't know it matters. 3 under is usually louder.

I dont really notice any real difference one way or another in a way a bow is tillered, just tune the bow from the begining. Your own shooting form and realease makes a bigger difference.

Yup! Just adjust the nock set a bit and let 'em rip!
