Title: Take downs

I recently bought a Martin T/D. I finally have the bow tuned to my liking. This is the first T/D I have owned. I'm a little leary of taking the bow apart, is it going to shoot just like it did when i put it back together or am I going to have to retune the bow?

It will shoot exactly the same.  The only thing to be careful of is to make sure you haven't twisted or untwisted the string, so check your brace height and you're good to go.

I'll also agree with Whip.

I have 3 T/D Recurves & keep my strings folded in a Ziplock baggie in a way that they do not untwist on me & every time I set the bow up I pull out my trusty square to verify my settings.

Yep....  The string thing is my only concern...

I love em....  course I love my 1 piece LB's too

Flying a lot the TDs are my bows of choice,as customs i buy them only,I love the vintage one piece too.

Dont over tighten the limb bolts......snug them up only. As far as strings, take a twist tie and run it thru both loop ends to keep it twisted correctly.

Put a pencil mark on a few arrows to show your optimum brace height.  

Back when I had my D.Q. Patriot I got to putting the front of my crest at the leading edge of the riser so it was an easy visual.  I still do that even though I shoot only solid bows now.

Macksdad, Really the only thing is to not overtighten the limb bolts. Just snug does it for my Blacktail Elite & Fox High Sierra.

Ditto what everyone else has said.  I personally love TDs...the little extra weight makes the bow feel much more stable in my hand.

I find what "Pinecone" said about stability to be especially true with my HH take-downs.

Ditto here too. Check your brace height and don't overtighten limb bolts, and you should be great. TDs all the way!

The more I use my take-down the more I like the mobility of the system...

I have a Great Plains SR Swift. Love it.
When I break it down. I use the loops through each other in a half hitch, to keep the string from untwisting.
The pins and bolts will make sure the limbs are in the same place.

Got 3 tds and always travel and hunt, never had a prob with them being off. Just make sure you string does untwist
