I saw on TV that they have a handle to add to Your Bow (Wheelie) so You don't carry it by the string.
My Question is do You carry Your bow by the string?
-
I carry my bow by the handle.
-
Sometimes by the string, but much more often by the grip. Other than them wanting to sell you something, what's so bad about carrying a longbow by the string??
-
I don't know if it's bad to carry one by the string or not but I do know it would take me longer to get an arrow on if the situation called for one.
God bless,Mudd
-
grip, if carry on the string you risk loosening you knock.
-
I am a ground hunter and carry however is handy.
-
I didn't vote. I do both. By the grip a lot of times, but by the string if I have something else also in that hand or if I have something on my side or back that could ding up my bow. Holding it my the string can get the bow out of the way from something like a tree stand on my back.
-
Dont know if its a bad way but I dont do it. Carry it by the string that is.
-
I carry both ways , but more so by the handle.. I know it is more so for them wheels from going out of whack.. But I had to see what Tradgangers think/do.
-
I carry mine by the handle.
-
I carry my bow by the grip with bowstring facing the ground.
-
I carry it by whatever way is handy.
Heck, sometimes between targets at a 3D shoot I balance one end on my palm as I walk.
This seems to be more of an issue for wheels, I can't see it making any difference for a trad bow.

I do both. A lot of bows get stored hanging by the string...dont see what it could hurt.
-
BOTH!
-
any way that seems needed at the time, including by the string.

I get less snags on brush if I carry it by the handle, string down.
-
My bow is more comfortable to carry by the handle. I wouldn't be a bit afraid of carrying it by the string though. When I was hunting with compounds I made a loop of string where the limb and riser came together. Then I took a bag strap with the plastic clips (like dog leash clips) and attached to these loops and carried on my shoulder to keep my hands more or less free and the weight of the bow out of my hands. Not near as bulky as those things you see covering the strings and wheels on compounds on TV and the adds. Much cheaper too.
-
Like most by the handle.
-
Handle
-
By the handle....carrying by the string with a bow quiver just invites extra clanking against brush/snags.
-
I voted yes but I do both
-
I cover lots of country at times. So I carry it by the handle, then when I switch to the other hand and carry by the string, then back to the other hand and carry it by propping it on my shoulder...however it is comfortable. No worries.
-
handle
-
I prefer to not carry my bow by the string but I don't need someone to sell me a handle. :dunno:
-
I tote mine a lot of different ways....depends what I am doing.
-
both by the handle or by the string. it won't hurt a thing.
-
All depends on whats happening.
-
I carry by the string, riser on my shoulder, what ever is handy at the time. There is nothing wrong with carring your bow by its string.
-
By the handle, string down.

I'll do both, but I carry by the string a majority of the time. Never had a problem. Carrying by the handle always feels uncomfortable.
-
I always carry the bow by the handle since half of my hunting requires a mile hike uphill through rocks and spruce boughs on the Dolly Sods. When hunting at home here in Berkeley County I do the same even though the ground is overgrown pasture... It's easier to keep the multi-flora rose from wedging between the limbs and string when I "maneuver" the bow by the handle.
-
I carry my bow by the Handle, here in sw Ne spotn n stalkn mule deer usually means you better be ready for a shot at all times, and the brush and cedars get snagged if you dont keep the riser and limbs out ahead of you.
-
I carry mine by the lapel...it's the proper way to address a bow :)
-
I carry mine by the grip, string down.
-
I choose neither option as sometimes I carry by string, sometimes by handle. Whatever works at the time.

I voted by the string because I do sometimes, but you really need the third category...any way I can.
If carrying the bow moves your nock, you need to do a better job of tying it on. Try a little dab of glue.

I usually don't carry the bow or my pack. If I need the bow I just have my wife hand it to me. If I need something from the pack I just have her turn around so I can take it out. Keeps my hands free for my coffee and a cigar every now and then. :biglaugh: No I generally carry my bow by the handle and I do have a great wife by the way.
-
I am a switch hitter.. What ever feels right for the moment and situation.
What might be more interesting would be a poll to see if we walk with a nocked arrow or not and why.
-
Mine is usually over my right shoulder handle where an epaulet would be... Unless I'm closing in then by the handle
-
I carry it both ways, usually depends on what direction the wind is blowing as I go around the mountain.
:archer:
-
Both but I think the string more than the handle
-
I can't use it for a walking stick if I hold it by the string!
-
Once again,I think Bjorn is always right .How ever it is handy.
-
I'm carrying it the same as Ray most of the time if I'm covering much ground.
-
I carry mine tucked under my left arm, keeps it out of the way and secure.
-
Usually by the grip...sometimes by the string.
-
I do both also
-
I do both which means whatever feels right at the moment.
-
Any way I need to get thru the bushes
-
sometimes. Didnt vote just not enough choices for me!
-
Pretty much whatever part of the bow is handy at the time. When walking out of the woods I carry it over my shoulder alot.
God Bless,
Nathan

I do both.generally I use the handle, but I do carry my bow on the string sometimes

Both, whatever is handy at the moment.

I carry mine by the handle. When I was on crutches earlier this year, I got one of those hands-free bow-slings that allows you to carry it across your shoulder or back so I could hobble around my backyard and practice a bit.
