Title: Hunting over the Holidays
Post by: finkm1 on December 22, 2010, 08:54:00 PM: Who is going hunting over the holidays? I will be in the woods tomorrow night. The muzzle load season is done here in Michigan. The doe only season started this week on private land, so I will be perched in a tree waiting for the boys in orange drive the deer back on state land. I should have the place to myself. Ahhhh... Peace on Earth

I get some days after Christmas, and I am going to soak in all the cold air I can.

It will be whitetails by day and coyotes by night, and somewhere in there I plan on getting in some ice fishing.

Post by: ronp on December 22, 2010, 09:07:00 PM: Deer season closed yesterday here in NYS. I might do a little small game/stumpin' between Christmas and New Year's. Actually it's snow shoeing and stumping. Not too much small game activity lately with all the snow.

I will try to hunt Christmas Eve morning before kids start coming over. If the weather holds I'll try to get in a couple more hunts the last week of January. I'd like one more crack at one of my "picture bucks" but I'm also anxious to put some squirrels in the freezer. I'll stop deer hunting by January 1 (17 days before the season closes) to worry the bushytails a bit.

I'd like to go most every day until the season closes here. Im feeling good about a couple of my spots so hopefully it'll be sooner than that....Phil

definately over the xmas weekend ill be out chasin bunnies and if xmas is good cash-wise , ill grab a deer tag for the rest of the archery season.

stay safe , and dont EVER try to get warm by crawling inside your animal...

Got there a little late and on the way in started seeing bucks chasing. I saw 7 bucks 8pt or better. Just had to watch em couldn't get em to stop running. Nothing was huge, but some decent deer for around here. Good luck

My buck tag is good til the 31st. I can antlerless hunt all the month of Jan. where I live though. :thumbsup:

Except for a trip to Nixa.. Yea, thats right.. if the roads are ok I will hit it as hard as I can depending on weather... School starts on Jan 10. Season runs on

Post by: Altiman94 on December 22, 2010, 11:40:00 PM: I've been out since Monday. The deer are all stirred up here in Iowa due to the shotgunners pushing them around the last 3 weeks. I did find a nice draw I'll be in hoping to see some movement.

We need some more cold and snow here. I want to see the deer get on a feeding pattern.

Post by: Friends call me Pac on December 23, 2010, 12:55:00 AM: I cut them some slack on Christmas day but with 2 more months of deer bow season I still have plenty of time left. On Christmas day I always give the animals a present of my own. Basically a free day of me not bugging them even though they should have no worries with me this year.

My shoulder is back to about normal and I can shoot again. After all these weeks of no hunting I'm camping for a few days the week after Christmas.

Then I think I'll try some bunny and squirrel hunting in Jan and Feb.
