Perhaps this could/should have gone in the Bowyer's Bench but since it is a gift that I received, as opposed to one I made, I figured I'd put it here, where more folks visit. Also I think at least part of it was in that forum last summer, and hunting season posts are now fewer as well. As you've probably guessed, it is a bow (and accessories). It is named "One Eye", and was made by our own "Stiks-n-Strings" for his primitive hunts for deer during the 2010 season. Stiks says he doesn't sell the bows he makes but he knows if he gets to liking one too well, and gets attached to it, he might not get busy and make another one - LOL. Consequently, he usually gives them away. You can imagine the pleasant surprise it was for me when his generousity was bestowed on this ol' hoss for Christmas. I really like this bow a great deal and will cherish it to the end. Thank you, so very much Stiks. Also thanks to the rest of you for letting me share it with you, here and now.
I would have done this sooner but I caught a cold that settled in real good on Christmas night and the following morning. I did get to shoot about 3 shots with One Eye (in the house - ), and it behaves as sweet as it looks. I used one of my cane arrows w/field tip for that - LOL. I've been waiting for warmer weather to take the bow outside, for pictures and a real work out, but the NC weather isn't cooperating, especially with my cold (which is tapering off now, thank you, Lord). So today I couldn't stand to hold it in any longer and took the pics inside. Please forgive the "non-outdoorsey" backgrounds, and just enjoy the bow and Stiks' fine craftsmanship.
Oh, Specs: 62 1/2" NTN, 47#@28", Osage Character Selfbow, from the White River Bottoms, of Pike County, IN;
with partial snakeskin backing and self-made bow quiver to hold it's (also self-made) cane arrow w/stone broadhead and wild turkey fletchings. Entirely made by Sticks-n-Strings (except the stone head by his friend Bill). I am so proud of this excellent gift! Hope you enjoy seeing it.

Thanks, SveinD.
You also may pick out my old Browning Wasp and (relatively) new Anneewakee Addiction recurves on the turkey foot bow hanger, overhead , as well as Camo Dog, and Gracie cat (waiting for me to stop messing around with bows and let them out - LOL).

That is a STUNNING bow. Incredible work.
Congratulations!
-
Thanks, Guys. I was very impressed with the looks of the "partial" skins also, Kenneth - a neat idea.
The Quiver is not Stiks idea (from an old member, Ferret) but he used the "floppy rest" idea of that former member a number of times (as i have) and decided he could also make a quiver like his. Did a great job on it too, IMO. About the only kind of quiver you can use on an all wood bow.
BTW The first full Draw is with Stiks arrow, and for the second one I used one of my cane arrows (made by Art B), with a trade point on it.

You're right, Rudy (and so does my Anneewakee Addiction, "Blackie"). Rudy saw, and also shot, the bow, here at (in) the house (Shhhhh, don't tell his wife that I'm teaching him bad habits.) Stiks said his wife wouldn't let him do that either - LOL.
-
Bless your heart, Tim, my friend for such kind words.
The bow really is a shooter too, Tater. Stiks was very pleased with it too - that's why he really couldn't keep this one hanging around too long (lucky me) - LOL.
-
Awsome, awsome, awsome !

Blessings on your son, Brian. Thank you, and send my thanks to him for his service, please.

Bernie, great looking bow there Marine. That bow has a lot of character in it. That knot is perfect. Very good looking tiller on it also.

Thanks again, folks. I also liked the tiller real well. I have a number of primitive/wood bows (11 adult & 4 Youth) but, as I told Stiks on the phone, "One Eye" ranks right up there with my two favorite wood bows (in all aspects). Namely, my Dano (Gren)-built Osage, "Sneaky Snake", and my own selfbow Osage, "It",(in my avatar, that sadly "passed away" on me after a crushing accident suffered in transport).
-
Very nice primitive look.
-
I thought Stiks might come on and have a word or two about "One Eye" but, come to think of it, haven't "seen" much from him in the last week or two. Hope all is OK with Kris (him).
-
shoot it in good health Your a very nice man I met you at atar 2yrs ago.God bless ED

I been hanging around the Bowyers Bench Bernie. Been getting the annual bow swap ready and tracking info. KellyG is helping with info and doing a great job by the way.
This was my first character bow and primitive setup. I missed two deer with it this fall. Didn't pick a deer let alone a spot LOL, to excited I guess.
She looks good on you Bernie and I hope she serves you well brother. I got a yew stave I'm working on for next season that's gonna be static tipped with choke cherry backing. I might try and hang on to it a little longer but knowing myself I may just pick a name off the gang and give it away after hunting season. LOL

A character bow for a great character... :wavey:
Get well soon and hope to bump into you at the various shoots this year.
Oh Yeah Bernie, did you know Bill Pierce shot with the Cool Springs gang last year at STAR. We gave him a new nickname. Ask him who "Hush Puppy" is....

WOW!! What a beauty! I love those partial snake skins, what a great idea. Hope you get well Bernie so you can get shootin.
-
Thanks, all - I am feeling better already, though I'm using a box of Kleenex a day to clear the remnants out of my fuzzy head - LOL
Now that you mention it, Stiks, I did notice you working on the swap while I was keeping an eye on broketooth's current two-piece build in that forum. Good on ya! Someone is going to be pleased as punch and mighty lucky on that Yew whenever, I venture to say, buddy.
Bill did tell me about that, Nook - including the nickname - LOL. It was so good to shoot with him again this year.
Glad we met, Plumber, and Lord's blessings on you too.
-
Congrats Bernie beautiful Bow.
