Went to dinner at a neighbors last night and my recurve hunting came up. They dug out a Shakespeare 50lb. Wambaw! And it was left handed just like me. "here, take it!" was all they said.
Went for dinner and got a new bow! It's a 58 inch. How do I know how long of a string to get for it. Thanks!

AMO minus 3"
You need a 55" string.
-
a recurve is normally 4" less than AMO
longbows -3" of AMO

How cool is this? Way!!!!! I'm saying.....
Now let us see your gift.
God bless,Mudd

Can't beat that. Try a string 4" shorter than AMO. We need pictures.

Here it is. It's kinda grimy and scuffed. Whats the best way to clean it up? I don't want to rub off any of the printing. I hope this thing can fling a heavy arrow!
I resized in photo bucket ( and before importing into photobucket. I hope this is ok.)

The Wambaw is a nice shooting bow. Recently had one but passed it on to a fellow archer at the local range. Nothing but compliments!!

Nice bow.
-
Great looking bow!
-
Thanks! What's the best way to clean it up w/o hurting the finish!
-
What Chupa said. Nice one.
-
Thanks all. Is warm water a soap the best place to start cleaning it?
-
Warm water wont hurt it if your not soaking it in the bath tub, just rub over it with a rag to dry it off good when your done cleaning. You could even use 4-OOOO steel wool with some kinda of oil or Go-Jo hand cleaner W/OUT the grit. Be careful around the decal so you don't rub it off, I have seen some under the finish and some laying on top. The finish looks beat up a bit and you wont be able to do much with that except scuff over it and recoat it or just refinish it completley. I say a good cleaning should do just fine though.

Citrus-oil solvents like Goo-Be-Gone, light scuffing with Scotch-Bright pad, wipe down with denatured alcohol and a couple coats Min-Wax poly will do wonders.

Remember that older bows like that one shoot B50 stings. It would be a shame to ruin one that nice with FF.
