Title: How do i darken a leather quiver?

I have a great northern bow quiver that is very light.  How do i darken it or stain it darker?  Minks oil dont seem to darken it enough. thanks

You could try the Kiwi brand shoe dyes or polishes, that are available at grocery, drug stores.

Permanent markers, like sharpies. I think even a wood stain from the hardware would work!

But if you have used the mink oil, the dyes maybe hard to set!

If you have it loaded up with Mink oil you are going to have a bit of a time getting it to take color.

I would suggest an alcohol or solvent based dye that may get through the mink oil residue

Pitch Blend, Minks Oil and Neetsfoot Oil will darken it some, if you are looking to change the color to a darker color, then your best bet is Fiebing's Leather Dye.  It comes in various colors, you can get the dark brown to go almost black with a few coats.  After putting the dye on, wipe it dry, and then you can restore the water proofing with some Montana Pitch Blend.
Permanent markers and wood stain will work also, but can run the chance of really drying the leather out, plus, in wood stains there are petroleum products that can leave a smell that is hard or impossible to get rid of...

Go with the Fiebings (Three Rivers carries it) and the Montana Pitch Blend (also 3R).

I wouldn't second guess someone who makes a living at it.

If you already put mink oil on it stay with the same stuff, but don't put too much on.

I used shoe polish that was brown on the back side and then hit the whole thing with Neets Glove Oil.  Made it pliable and darker.  The Neets will stain your shirt even if you don't use the shoe polish, but then that may be a good thing.
