Ordered a set of Predator camo in deception green last week and got to try it out this evening Still hunting for pigs. No pigs but had a big old doe come within 5 yards of me. Me standing out in the wide open and she couldn't figure out what I was. I watched her from 50 yards out coming up a trail and it wasn't till she was literally 5 yards before she noticed anything was up. Then she did the stomp and snort and ran off, flag a flying.. Then SHE CAME BACK! 3 times! I'm really impressed with this stuff!

It's funny you posted this thread. I've been looking at the Fall Gray Predator camo all week long. Ordered the camp shirt and 6 pocket pants the other day and got the shirt yesterday but they were out of the pants.(figures) Can't wait to crawl up a tree and try it out. Glad your happy with yours!

i absolutely love predator camo! Im sold on the pattern but have been less than happy with the actual product- no failures- i just dont like the design and im not happy they dont make fall brown anymore.
-
If you go to there web-site it's hard to believe that they don't make their products in all the different camo patterns that they have. For instance if you want a face mask you can't get it in all the patterns. Same with the hats and gloves. Just my 2cents!

Predator really needs to step up on their products (not patterns). I really don't get it.
Fall Grey and Brown work well. Bought the cotton stuff from them several years ago, but then spent a little more for GWW. It's not too bad on price if you get the basic Wolfskin, which is well made, fairly quiet, has a nice swing back for shooting, is semi-waterproof, doesn't fade much, and lasts. GWW also has Fall Brown, which Predator doesn't even carry anymore.
-
I have had that exact same thing happen with my ghillie suit on. It's pretty cool to have a deer that close not know what you are.
-
Predator comes in deception brown and green which works fabulaouly here in the NW. I have had elk look right past me when holding still in the Green. I frquently wear brown pant and green tops to hunt in the heaavy timber.
-
I agree I love the stuff been using two years now. That's why we became a dealer It's the best camo out there
-
I have predator camo, it is a second to my ASAT. Jeff a GWW makes excellent slothes and all I can get from him is Predator. Gary at Day one also makes very good clothes and he has ASAT and Predator in all materials. Wish Jeff would get ASAT.
-
Predator is my "go to" camo. I have 10 pairs of each: Spring Green, Fall Gray and the discontinued Fall Brown. Enough to last the rest of my lifetime. Glad I bought the Fall Brown before Predator discontinued it. I don't know why Predator discontinued Fall Brown, but I always viewed it as a big mistake.
-
I have the deception brown and it works great. Stalking squirrels they hardly even notice you.
-
Looks like a pretty good product. Will have to order some for next season. I think that I will try the early season light weight in the fall grey. Thanks
-
I got a full set of Green Deception for Xmas. Can't wait to use it. I got the vest, pants, camp shirt and boone. I am going to order the Bibs and Jacket in the next few days.
Bow Man, what ya got in stock on a 2x in Green D?
-
1 question, what is GWW?
-
Gray Wolf Woolens, a sponsor here at the top. Best wool clothes out there IMHO. We switched to Fall Grey several years ago and have not been busted visually yet. Even had them look thru me when I was stuck out on the side of a tree in a clearcut. Try that with good old black Mossy Oak, haha ! The open pattern is what makes it work along with the depth and shadow effect. Totally breaks your outline.

I am a firm believer in the predator series myself. I had a funny experience with my brother in S. Az one afternoon. He and I were chasing after a few deer when we decided to split up to cover a small saddle deer were passing thru. I was no more than 30-40 yards away from him when I could tell he was looking for me. Finally he shouted "where the heck did you go?" I laughed and started waving.. I hadn't moved. If I can blend in that well with someone that has pretty sharp eyes.. I just make sure I do not skyline myself. My only concern was the material, would love to see it in a wind/water repellent type material.
-
I agree with Steve...I use ASAT and can get so close to deer and other animals without being detected! Sometimes I use ASAT in combination with the plaid Asbell pullover too and that works great too! This breaking up of the human outline is much better than the camo that's 'in fashion' and very popular! I think it is actually more appealing to our eyes than the animals we are trying to hide from! Just my opinion. Thanks.

I'm a big believer in predator to. I think the biggest part of it though is it doesn't just look like a big glack blob like most of the other camo patterns do. Same goes for ASAT, in my opinion.
I think the off the shelf wally world stuff would work just fine if it weren't so dark and detailed though.
-
When I wear camo, it's my favorite
-
Its good stuff for sure!!! I been using it since the mid 90's. They just look right through ya!
-
Predator has always been a pattern I've admired and wanted to try, just haven't been able to. One day.
-
I liked Predator patterns for a long time. I wish I had bought a few of the cotton coveralls before they stopped making them.
Back in 2006 my buddy and I were elk hunting in Colorado. I was wearing something other than Predator. he was wearing spring green. At one point we were paralleling each other. On a few occassions he just disappeared until he moved.
I have a Chastain Wapiti and a B MAg riser being film-dipped this week in Brown Deception. I can't wait to see them!
-
Predator is great camo. I also concur that it's 2nd only to ASAT. But that's saying a lot. Predator makes one disappear.
Open patterns. Open patterns.
-
I replaced all of my old camo last year with Predator Fall Grey and Spring Green... I have cotton stuff from Predator, also some warmer stuff from GWW and DayOne... Works very well for me so far.
-
I used to use Predator camo in several different patterns and was pretty happy with them until I started useing Leafy como outfits from several different companys and found them superior to anything else I ever used.
-
Been sold for on Predator years....I think its funny when I hear that 'camo is a myth' and 'in my mind' or 'just dumb animals' from folks that never kill anything. Sorry, I just get tired of hearing stuff from folks with just opinions and no experience.
Just because a turkey walked right up to me one day with jeans and a T shirt on doesn't DISPROVE that camo works. Maybe he was a 'dumb animal'.
For those that claim camo is bogus...ask yourself this...if you HAD to hunt to EAT, and only had two choices of hunting attire, either predator camo or a white painters jumpsuit, which would you choose?
I also think there is something for cutting myself in half with my brown pants as well.
Here's my Predator Testimony.....

Terry,
How the predator camo for warmth? as in their fleece line of clothing?
-
Don't know....never bought directly from them....GWW and Day one.
-
Being a camo on the head type guy myself, I'm impressed with the lid in your photo's Terry.
Does the predator work even after it's faded?

Not sure I answered that correctly. If you want Predator and you want to stay warm...you get both from Gray Wolf Woolens. That's where I get my stuff.

well said Terry, well said....
South MS Bowhunter, we have the 380 gr fleece with wind liner with 2 seasons behind us now. For the money it is great. The windliner is very quiet but not as windproof as GWW. I could feel a little drafty on my legs standing up in a 15MPH wind. But then again you should not be in a tree in anything over 15-20MPH. We hunted in it down to 15 degrees and as long as the wind is not howling it is very comfy with our 400 gr Ullfrotte' longjohns and maybe a Goodwill wool sweater on as well.
For longer sits, cloudy, windy days and 15 degrees we switch to our GWW. Warmer, and NO wind comes thru. But then again you get what you pay for bud. This was my first year in my new GWW vest and I cannot say enough good about it ! Most late season days I wore Ullfrotte' 400 gr longjohns, Predator fleece bottoms,Cabelas 85/15 wool /nylon sweater, then GWW vest and was toasty. When and if I get the $$$ I will buy me some GWW pants or bibs and a maybe a thin windlined shirt or pullover to wear under the vest. My arms did get a tad cold on really windy days being that it could get thru the 85/15 sweater and Ullfrotte' wool that is not windlined. What I really loved was walking to the tree in breathable wool, packing the vest. After 30 minutes to make sure I was cooled off good I would slip on the vest and be good to go. The best part about this vest is the half forearm deep pockets, long tail, and collar that is taller in the back than the front. First year ever with total bow arm string clearance ! Did I tell ya that I really liked the GWW vest ????? JMHO

Thank Terry and Jimmy,
I know I have commented since last fall concerning good camo for shooting (non bulky) and for warmth. Even those I live in the deep south some may think it doesn't get cold here, but i will guarantee you when it 20 and humidy is 90% and you throw in some wind buuurrrr! I'm about 99% persent sold on the predator line and have e-mailed them over the last 2 months and talked with other on the site that deal in their line of camo. So when the funds are in i'm looking to buy :saywhat:
-
John,
Yep, just got back several weeks ago from Chicago and it was 0 to -2 at night with the wind of course. Yes, it was cold but I agree with you.... 10 -15 degrees in the South with our humidity....COLD. I took lots of heavy clothes and got hot in Chicago.
Not sure what color of Predator you had in mind but we are totally sold on Fall Grey. Not been busted visually since we started using it. Now if we could just get the deer to hold still while we put a clothes pin on their nose !!! Even had turkeys come by at 10 yds while Mason and I were perched in the same lone white oak in a clearcut. Never saw us and even came by the side of the tree where we were skylined. No more black blobby Mossy Oak for us.
-
I personally think it's a 50/50 tie between the Predator Fall Grey/Spring Green & ASAT. All 3 are exceptional patterns. I don't own any others these days.
The open pattern & high contrast really break up the human outline. I've never really bought into trying to look like a tree. As long as I don't look like a person (many folks would say I don't need camo for this) I'm happy.
-
I'm looking at getting the Deception Green for the areas I hunt. We have a lot of pines and really thick brush that stay green year round. Also noticed on their site in some of the pic's they mix and match the Brown Deception with the green and the guy literally disappears! Well almost
-
Terry, love the lid and that was my first time looking through your Album...killer collection of photo's and game.
That Bison rocks but the Ruffed Grouse are pretty impressive as well... :notworthy:
Thanks~
-
Awesome Camo! I use the grey for sheep and the green for the deer in the rainforest.
-
ASAT has the claim that if you don't see more game with their camouflage on than you ever have before in your life, that they will buy it back.
I'd like to do a black and white photo comparison with a ghillie suit vs. ASAT. I must admit ASAT would be much easier to move around in. My ghillie suit gets irritating.
