I posted this on the other EE thread, but figured it would be better to start a new one rather than sifting thru 6 pages of "when will it get here" :)
Let's here what you saw, here are my thoughts:
My wife is out of town so the kids and I had "movie night" last night. My 12 yo son and 10 yo daughter were mesmerized for two solid hours!
It is amazing to me how they blend all those fantasic animals, both trophy and unique, along with the spectacular scenery and music to tell the story of the hunt that matches our (the true hunter watching) heartfelt love of the outdoors. Watching it for the second time, I noticed the deer were walking or running with the beat of the music and sometimes the small game animals or deer in the background of the featured animal were showing the "emotion" we as humans would portray. My kids could not get enough of the bears fishing and "rocking out" to the music.
And EVERY word from the narrator said EXACTLY how I feel about bowhunting.
I am so proud of the "Brothers of the Bow". Gene, Barry, Mike, David, and even Mark :p , thank you for giving us something that we can confidently hand to anyone in the world and say, "this is why I bowhunt, this is what bowhunting IS!"
-
This video is indeed a must watch for the family. It got my wife to stop reading and just watch. Unmatched footage of wildlife. It was a little like watching Planet Earth, with the occasional animal exiting rather quickly carrying some fletch!
-
Keep bragging... haven't got my copy yet. Hoping today is the day!
-
Have not received mine yet, still waiting patiently.
-
Fingers crossed!
-
Maybe today.....I hope.
-
Long, rainy weekend ahead. I may have a breakdown if it does not show in the mail today.
-
Fred Bear, Howard Hill, and Ben Pearson may be gone but the Brothers Of The Bow family carry the bowhunting love of nature torch with class. What steve O said is EXACTLY how I feel too!!
-
It truely is an awe inspiring two hours of amazing footage, music, and emotion that only the Brothers of The Bow have been able to capture...now for the second time...
-
I got my copy in yesterday’s mail, but haven't seen it yet. I will probably wait until the grandkids show up this week-end, and then we can watch it together.
-
It does a great job of portraying why I hunt and love for the outdoors and creation.
Couln't say it any better myself than is laid out in this film.
Ted
-
Just got my copy yesterday!!!
-
I really liked the kids! Couple more years and I'll have my grandson in the woods with me.
Bowhunting is a family.
-

Well, the dvd was fine! The scratches didn't seem to hurt it any. All I can say is WOW! The Wensel and Mitten brother's done an outstanding job. I can't say enough good thing's about it. Me and my 12 year old son watched the entire movie without a potty break :D . Job well done!
Jason

You guys make me want to order this today. Thanks.

It is without a doubt one of the BEST investments that you would ever make, and if you don't already own "Primal Dreams".....it would be a very good investment also. These two films, put together by people that truly "walk the talk" are destined to be classics that will continue to be watched by generations yet to come.
Yep.......they are BOTH.......that good !!!! I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right and the quality of video and narration in these videos are spot on. Sometimes when Gene is speaking........he can reach right into our hearts and minds and pull out the thoughts and feelings so well that it's almost scary.
Congratulations on another "home run" brought to us by Gene, Barry, Mike, Mark and David.....YOU guys ROCK !!! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:

I hate to hear about the damaged DVD cases . . . OUCH, there goes my artwork! At least the meat of the product stayed intact since the scratches haven't prevented anyone thus far from enjoying the show!
-
Still waiting for the 2 copies I ordered at Kzoo. :knothead: I guess I have something to look forward to on Monday now.
-
Gret video really enjoyed it all the reasons I started bow hunting to begin with
-
Mail just came...no dice. :(
-
Got mine yesterday and spent the next two hours watching and now I want to move to Iowa or Illinois. Thank you "Brothers of the Bow" for another breath taking dvd.

THE MAIL JUST ARRIVED!! My much awaited treasure has arrived intact :clapper: I have to ask someone who has watched already.. the disks are not numbered so which one is the beginning? when I start to watch with my wife(a non-hunter/shooter), I don't want to have to switch out right away :biglaugh: :archer2:
-
You want the one with the BIG shed on it. That is the main feature...the one that says Bonus Features has...bonus features on it :D
-
I'm beginning to think this DVD is like Bigfoot- not really sure it exists!
-
Thanks Steve, when we get settled in I want to just go straight through :coffee:
-
Hasn't hit this side of the Rockies yet. Horseshoe Bend Mail take way, way too long.
-
Hi Mike,
The Bison Hunt with the long bow, Was it a great nothern Bow? If so what were the specs?
-
Marty,
It not only exists, but you have a starring role ;-) laughed my butt off...
Jonathan

My copy of "Essential Encounters" arrived. After lunch I took the time to watch it in it's entirety. It is a two disk production and I started with the Bonus Features on one disk which were very informative and entertaining.
The main feature will keep you riveted to your seat. I did pause it at one point while I made some popcorn and then right back into it. There are scenes that a normal man would never see in a lifetime in the outdoors. Bucks that will take your breath away and leave you with your mouth hanging open.
Past, present and future generations are represented in this production, blended into a wonderful journey into the world of predators and prey. It will touch your heart and at times choke you with emotion.
Essential Encounters definitely "IS" essential for every outdoor minded person. You will come away with a better understanding of yourself and your love for the outdoors.
Thank you Mittens and Wensels for another out of the park home run.
-
Ron summed up my feeling pretty well.
-
Thanks for the kind words Ron . . . a big compliment coming from you sir.
You should have written some of the narration for Essential Encounters Ron; your description of the DVD is on the money.
-
What the heck is up with that bucks tongue?
-
Just ordered my copy after reading all of your posts. Now I can't wait for it to get here. So how long is this going to take, anyways? If it's anything like Primal Dreams, it will be a masterpiece!
-
Thanks Gary, I work for food.. :readit:
-
My case was busted up too, but the dvd's were not hurt.
I just finished watching it !
It is as good or maybe better than Primal Dreams 1, that is unbelievable, not many movies (if any) is the next release as good as the first, and these guys set the bar very high on Primal Dreams 1, I didn't think they could meet them lofty standards again, but they sure did !
As was said before, they somehow capture our feelings and emotions and put it into a movie, put my name on the waiting list for Primal Dreams 3 !
Dan
-
Ordered mine at Kzoo and it arrived today but we had a trad shoot today so won't watch it until tomorrow.
-
Still nothing here :(
-
Still waiting!!

The above words taken from Ron LaClairs quote pretty much sum up my thoughts after watching it for the first time last night.Primal Dreams was good.Essential Encounters is better.Truly an amazing production that shows nature, wildlife and hunting in a very positive way.Gene,Barry,Mike,etc. truly an outstanding effort on your part.
-
I tell ya what, Mittens/Wensels and co. did one heck of a job! Very, very cool.
Like Ron said, there are scenes I will probably never see in real time. The sense of emotion that comes with some of the scenes is overwhelming.
Fantastic, I give it two full quivers up! :campfire:
-
I got my copy Friday. Plan to watch it soon.
-
I'm watching it right now and have gotten through the first half hour so far. What can I say but thanks guys, you've hit it out of the park as far as I'm concerned. Gotta get back to the show!
-
Anyone have the volume drop out a couple times, or am I the only unlucky one? Anyway, it's a Great DVD.
-
I got mine on Friday. Just an awe inspiring DVD. And the size of some of those bucks is unreal. Wish i'd see bucks of that class in my area. The buck with the double drop tines and his tonge hanging out. Looked like he was ready to die.
Thanks brothers of the bow.
-
I just finished and David, Mark, Mike, Gene and Barry it was simply awesome. The power of brothers and family and a shared love of life was certainly evident. Congratulations to you all.
-
I got mine this weekend and my wife, son and I watched it this afternoon. It was awsome. Garrett is 5 and good at it so he was in and out of the room but he really liked the snakes and the outtskes. He also thinks Gene is a ninja.
Thanks guys,
Tom
-
Just an outstanding DVD! Loved every minute of it.
The interview with Capt. Ed was priceless and Gene can sit by me anytime in Church with singing like that!!
-
Just finished watching it with the family, very well done Gent's. I am very confident that non hunters that see this will "Get It"
It was disturbing however, to see how comfortable Marty was man-handeling the south end of that hog..."I'll take that one Daddy"
:saywhat:
-
i am sick of this , don't guess the mail runs to Texas.. still waiting..
-
Watch the promo while you're waiting.

-
Just finished watching the main feature and its another masterpiece.

Hey Marty did bigfoot arrive at your door yet? :bigsmyl:
-
Absolutely amazing footage. This dvd was excellent all together. My family loved this. This is a timeless piece of hunting and what it means that will be shared for generations to follow.
The footage of the kids was awesome.
Hats off to Mike, Mark, David, Gene and Barry. They did it again.
-
Another award on it's way. Very, very nice, My compliments to the Mittens and Wensels.
-
Dirtybird,
No such DVD that I'm aware of- Haven't even seen a track.

Marty that scene of you and the pig had me thinking Deliverence for a moment. Glad it ended well!
-
My case was busted up, too. DVD is fine. Great photography.
-
Geez , I was hopen to see some big deer
-
Still waiting! :dunno:
-
My copy made it today. I just watched it and echo Mr Ron LaClair's sentiments on the DVD if he will allow me to. You're spot on Ron.
Thank you, Brothers of the bow, for a perfect view and explanation of why and how we do what we do.
-
Great production. Unfortunately my case was busted up and I have some bad spots on the DVD.
-
Dirtybird- Bigfoot is real- I saw it!

-
I watched the first DVD last night and I was not disapointed ! The wensels and mittens are first class all the way !
-
Biggie- it's easier than catchin a deer! They're fast.
-
Got mine in the mail yesterday. Watched the main DVD last night. Excellent. Worth the wait.
-
Biggie I saw your name in the credits but I don't remember why you were there... :biglaugh:
-
No reason.........

Aw heck, you could do it. If you wanna try, I'll be your camera man.
-
Ron-Biggie was a few hundred yards from me when I caught that pig - we are bestest friends- that's why he's on there and that's why I wasn't skeered- he was my backup!
-
A few hundred yards?. ...that's not backup, that's long range observation :bigsmyl:
-
Picked up a copy from the Tall Tines guys at the Traditional Expo at Waterloo last weekend. Another great showing of all that we get to see and hear when hunting! Fantastic scenery and animals!
-
Good point Ron, too late now I guess.
-
Marty, I said; "Whatever happens I get you backstraps"
NOT "Whatever happens, I got your back"
-
My copies made it here today! Can't wait until after dinner to settle in for the show! :clapper:
-
I know how Gene manages to kill the big ones now. He sings to them to calm them into a trance before thumping them. Barry yodels at them and kills them with his bad breath.
Great movie! Another grand slam right out of the park. Whitey's (David Mitten)kids are pretty cute too. Outstanding movie!!
-
Finally got to watch it today. What a beautiful piece of art. My favorite part was when the little guy was going after that turkey. The look of frustration on the poor little fellow was something we all know well! Excellent work by the Wensel/Mitten camp once again.
-
It's just an outstanding piece of work. Really a complete joy to watch. Everything on both dvd's is a treasure.
-
What a tribute to what "it's" all about.Great job guys!Gene, your Nat K. Cole impression killed me...don't quit your day job though, unless it's putting out more videos.Really liked Mr.Bilderbacks' Fred Bear stories as well.Great movie!
-
I finally received mine. Absolutely awesome!!! Finished watching it tonite!!! Even caught my wife coming in (had to watch it on my computer) and watching quite a bit of it with me!!! She did laugh when Gene was singing!! I think she said "good thing there is an age limit for American Idol contestants!" Don't worry Gene! I took care of her for ya!!
Rusty
-
Sorry-double post!
-
Got my copy in the mail today and I just finished watching it. WOW! What a fantastic work of art! If you liked Primal Dreams you will truly enjoy the contiuation of Essential Encounters. I can't wait to watch again. Going to be recommending this to each and every "hunter" I know. Thanks Wensels and Mittens!
-
I was watching EE again getting fired up for the up coming season. I noticed the bino strap that Barry was wearing. Does anyone know who sells them?
-
Barry sells them through brothers of the bow.
