I think Im going to make my own this spring/summer.
I have one custom and one production longbow.
There isnt anything wrong with either but I think I will get more satisfaction from building one and crafting the wood arrows.
Especially if I shoot a deer with it(or a tree rat)
-
I can't understand this, but right now I'm up to speed with what I have and don't have a "gotta have" bow in mind. What's wrong with this picture?
-

X2! I don't have any certain bow I'm looking for. Although my Silvertip is purrrdy sweet. OH, I like all them old bows too! :D Jason

Honestly... none! Bows are like cars & women, the instant you get a new one somebody else comes by with one you like a better. It's best to just choose wisely the 1st time, be happy with the one you have, & stick with it. My current bow is metal & camo, has some blood on it, a little dirt, & some scratches too... I like it that way.
-
A BigJim Buffalo 2 piece Dalmation Ebony
A BigJim Thunder Child 2 Piece Dalmation Ebony
And this Thunderhorn
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=042755
I was totally sold on a BigJim until I saw this one today..... Now I've got to save double the amount!
-
That Bear T/D did it! I could no longer resist.
A 2011 Bear T/D has been ordered (I know it isn't that color, but i get it in about 8 weeks) and I just got off the phone with Tim Mullins of Acadian Woods for the treestick. I am finally going to breakdown and get the bow I have wanted since the day I first shot one. Now what can I sell before June! LOL
-
Blacktail! I just hope the funds in my bow account accumulate to sufficient levels before the next lefty pops up, otherwise I'll have to take cues from the government and go into deficit spending!
Griffin and Shrew were also on the list, but I have scratched both of those itches within the last few weeks.
-
Whatever my wish list is, I'm sure it will always be one short.
-
Oh......Let me see.....A Traditional Yew English LongBow, a Couple of Howard Hill LongBows, and that just may do me for now!! :archer: :archer2:

If given the opportunity to spend one week with 52 different bows for a year, my wish list may become unrealistic or possibly there may be a few that stand out as perfect personal matches. Could amzingly surprise myself that there is only one for me.
Sometimes we,ourselves, don't know what we actually want or need.

I have wanted a Hill bow for a while... long before the giant thread got started. And I was all ready to order one when that thread popped up. Now I am so overwhelmed with choices that I can't decide what I want. So far the only decisions I have made are that I want a 68-70" bow around 65#@28". Materials, grip style and string follow, etc are all still big question marks for me.
A case when too much information can be daunting I suppose.
-
i dont have a bow wish list anymore...just an "ILF" limb wish list:)
-
Shrew Sam. , Schafer Silvertip , another Morrison would be awesome too.
-

Mitch,
Don't be overwhelmed...that thread is full of good info and, at the same time, a lot of personal preference. Sounds like you are on track with the two major components - draw weight and length.
The rest is your preference. Performance across all of the materials (models) is not a key factor - many guys will tell you that they cannot tell one from the other. You cannot make a mistake there.
IMO, If there is any problem you may encounter it'll probably be in developing an appetite for another "flavor" -pick one that flips your switch...
-

Biocomposite laminated Assyrian bow from Grozer.
