Title: Nice Pair and a holder to go with them
Post by: jwingman on March 29, 2011, 08:33:00 PM
Here is my pair of Kanati Longbows and a new quiver I made for the new one. I just received the walnut colored one. I liked the first one so much I ordered a backup. The bows are 60 inches long and 47#@28 inches. I draw about 30 inches and they really fling a nice arrow. I killed my first deer on my new hunting property this year with the first bow so hopefully they will keep scoring. I am working on food plots and hopefully a big buck is in the future.
The quiver is formed out of a 1 inch wide piece of aluminum and the holddown blocks are wood. Industrial velcro is used to hold it on the bow. There is soft rubber under the contact surfaces. It does not slip, it does not rattle and it can come off the bow in seconds with the arrows in it. It works real good. I'm kind of proud of it. It rides a bit higher on the bow to keep your arrows off the ground if you lean the bow against a tree and the holder is tilted back away from the face of the bow. The distance points between the hood and the arrow holder are farther apart to keep the arrows from getting whippy below the arrow holder.
Jason builds a great shooting bow. If you are thinking about a Griffin or a Shrew, both great bows I might add, you might want to give a Kanati a try.

Thanks
jwingman

Great looking bows and I really like the work you did on your quiver.  If you have a few close up pics of how it's attached to the bow I'd like to see some more.  Good job!

Here are some pictures of how the quiver is attached. These are from another quiver I built on the same principle awhile ago.

Sweet quivers as well as bows!! You ever think about marketing the quivers, I know I would buy one if the price was right!  :bigsmyl:  Shawn

Shawn - as a matter of fact, I am currently working on just that idea. The quiver with the aluminum brace is lighter than the wood model so I will probably focus on that. Some people may also want a wood model to match the wood on their bow.
My goal would be to market a quiver for around $60 that can be easily removed from the bow with the arrows still left in it. It must not slip and it has to be quiet. If I can get them produced for that, I will make plans to move forward with marketing them.

That's pretty cool. I never thought about making my own bow quiver, I love how you used wood for the major parts. Nice look!
