My excitement is limited. My go to  places are flooded right now. Oh well. But they were strutting nice this sunday in open areas. Private land with no permission granted of course...

Good luck up there.  This has been the WORST turkey season I've seen in KY.

This rain is killing me! Some of my best spots are flooded and I have to work Sat. Bad thoughts of a boom stick are starting to creep in. I wish everyone luck!

Good luck and stay safe! You can always send the rains down to western KS. We can't get enough of it!

The forcast calling for 3- 4 inches of rain by tomorrow evening.  Doesn't look to promising.  I'll be out there but Thursday, Friday and Saturday look better.

I just got back from Louisville this afternoon (went down yesterday afternoon for work)...lots of water, especially from Columbus south, but did see birds out in the fields both days.

Good luck to everyone and post up how you do...Friday at the earliest before I could hit the woods..

I would love to give turkey hunting a try.  What are the basics one would need to know.  I would not expect much this season beeing inexperienced with it but I'd be interested to hear some thoughts.  I have a nice deer area I go to near Bunker Hill.

Stepping out of the house this morning I heard one shotgun blast. So one less bird in the area. Came from a private farm though. I didn't go this morning and it rains again now...

Saw 3 toms and 7 hens after the rain let up this morning.  The toms liked the real hens better than my decoys though.  I did fool a redtailed hawk.  He drove a hen decoy into the mud.

My first time hunting turkeys today after drawing for the first three days of the season. Four hours were spent listening to the sound of raindrops on a blind. I was probably not in the best spot for a rainy day, but there were three shots from nearby while it was pouring pretty hard. Only action was one gobble to my north after the rain ended.

Highlight was seeing a Bald Eagle overlooking a marsh at Willow Sough. We don't see many of them in northwest Indiana.

I am drying/adjusting my kit and will be at it again tomorrow.

Understand the rain. Seems like it is every place. However remember that these birds get this flood of hormones once a year. Nothing is going to stop them from looking for a receptive hen. If your flooded out so are they. The hen will look for higher dry land to nest and the beards will follow them (alot like men). I'm lucky as I live in hill country and I hike up to hunt every time.  The birds I hunt will be in the same place they have been for years. PA season opens this Saturday and then hunting NY which opens on Sunday. Wish me luck as I wish all of you the same.
