i played a few hours hooky from work today after finding some left over pieces of heavy leather.
i winged this side quiver without any preconceived plans, just using the piece of 10oz latigo, 9" x 23", and another scrap piece about 6" x 10". i used twisted quadrupled b50 string fiber for all stitching through pre-punched holes that i also sorta just punched as i went along. it actually works quite well, but need to take it afield for a real shakedown as to hunting functionality. the added leather pieces up front and rear were stitched on to add necessary diameter and strap control.

Real nice especially for quick project

Well done, nice quiver!

Excellent! I like the look of the stitching. I switched to a stalker type quiver last year and love it! Can't see going back< Thanks for sharing. .
-
A few hours? Amazing.....I keep seeing nothing but talent associated with everything you do.
-
That looks well cool mate ! good job !
I use them more and more as hunting quivers as they let me carry a back pack etc and I like being able to draw my arrows with little movement .
I, too tried to build my own . Lets just say that my efforts , unlike yours, were less than successful ... function and form both missed the boat ! ended up making some nice tabs ....
For sizing , did you just wrap iy round a pvc pipe kinda thing ?

Nice looking quiver! I also really like the stitching. If you're happy with your "shakedown" maybe a "build-along" would be in order.

Awesome job Rob.

That looks great!!

Very crafty Rob, nice job!
I'm also a big advocate of making things myself if I can. There is a limit to what one can do, but why buy what you can make yourself.
That's true traditional intuition at it's finest, the old timers had to make their own tack and didn't really have a choice in the matter.

Wow Rob, that is awesome work for just winging it. Great great job

Good Job Rob, would have taken me at least 2 days to plan her out. Let alone put her together. Thanks for the pics, pretty nice looking quiver.

Rob
Your talent extends well beyond computers, that's for sure.

just for the boot end stitching i used a thick carpet needle, but for the rest i just twisted the dacron bundle real tight and wicked in some thin cya to make it into a "needle". :)

made some needed changes as the quiver was hanging too horizontal so i replaced the rear "coupler" with a new one and relocated the strap hanger to the rear of the quiver side. the front end attachment was at 90 degrees instead of 180 so i pulled it apart and restitched it using dacron as the joiner. ah, so much better now! now that this "prototype" works, is should build another that looks, um, "cleaner" ... NAH! :D

Rob can we get a pic with it on? Would like to see how it rides. Thanks.
-
as with any specific side stalker type quiver, where the strap attaches determines how it will ride when worn. with before switching the strap to the back end of the quiver, the first spot had it riding almost horizontal, plains indian style. here's how it rides now ...

... i want it a tad more vertical and that means moving the front strap attachment a bit further back,
-
That's a real nice piece for something you just threw together.
-
Thanks Rob. I had modified mine as well when I got it. Had the same issues with the way it hung. I got mine almost vertical and live it. If I get into some thick stuff while hunting I can still slide it to the horizontal position and back. These style quivers are great for stumping and 3D as well as hunting.

Wanna go to SC and get it muddy? :D
-
Very cool quiver, Rob. That is the only other style of quiver I think that I could hunt with if I didn't use a bow quiver.
Nice work!
