Title: New 7 Lakes Longbow pics.
Post by: z-man on June 10, 2011, 01:11:00 PM
I just finished my 7 Lakes Longbow blank from Mike Ballenger.   :jumper:   I chose a 64" R/D blank and Mike supplied the overlay material for the tips and grip. I must admit that I was somewhat nervous getting started on it, not wanting to ruin what Mike had created. But with rasp in hand the excess wood started coming off. The bow's riser and limb tips just seemed to emerge on their own. I can't thank Mike enough for answering all of my many questions, and resending more overlay material when I had troubles with my epoxy not setting up. I am very pleased with how the bow turned out, and urge anyone wanting a project to give 7 Lakes a call and talk to Mike.
Bow specs: 64" R/D 50# @28" Riser: Rosewood/Sapele Limbs: Cherry with Black Walnut core Overlays: Rosewood/Sapele

Great looking bow, excellent work!  What woods are you going to choose for the rest of them you're going to make?

Thanks for all of the comments. I would like to give a huge THANKS to all Trad Gang members. I have been on the forum for years(mostly reading, seldom posting) trying to gain the knowledge to finish a project such as this. So my hat goes off to ALL of you for the help along the way in my archery journey.   :notworthy:    :notworthy:

Shakes,
They are indeed. I couldn't find a single questionable review of them and the price also helped me make the decision to get one and give it a go. It's a smooth drawing bow.
And yes I plan on getting another one to finish, I think it would make a great Christmas gift for my son.
