Ok, here's my situation. I am a righty and that's what I shoot when it comes to bows. Yesterday I went to one of the big sporting goods stores and shot a recurve lefthanded just to see if I could hit anything. To my surprise I had no problem shooting it or problems with eye dominance, and although I started out hitting a tad left after a couple groups they were hitting where I was looking. Now, I can shoot firearms lefthanded almost as accurately as right, just don't shoot left very often. So now I'm wondering if maybe I should get a used lefty bow and try it out for awhile to see how things workout. I'd like to know how many of you have found out that switching and being able to shoot both has worked for them.

Have you ever found your dominant eye? This may be the answer.

I know 2 guys who can shoot both. I tried shooting lefty once and was consistently 2 ft left

Get a new dual shelf bow and practice both..comes in mighty handy from time to time. You may get some shots others would have to pass up.

Hey Thump I am having a simular experience now. Because of a shoulder thing I bought a left handed bow from a tradganger to see if it was better for my shoulder and from the get go I can shoot it pretty well.(understand I don't put them all in the same hole to start with.)I have had the lefty for a couple of weeks and it amazes me how well I can shoot it even though it still feels kind of strange. Granted the bow(Lost Creek Legacy) is the smoothest drawing bow out to 31 inches I have ever shot even though I don't draw but 29inches. Another factor is it is only 42# at 28inches. As far as completely changing to left handed...well... it's kind of cool to shoot both ways and I am having fun with it so twice as many ways twice as much fun.

I've tried a few eye dominance tests and I favor my right eye. I know that I can focus on things just with my left eye with no problem, kinda like switching back and forth if I choose to. Doesn't seem to cause problems. I know it the range was short ( cabelas range ) but my first two groups were only 4 or 5 inches left. After that they were straigh on.

There are often left-handed bows for sale at great prices because the market for them is so much smaller. If I could shoot left-handed I would have been able to get some great bows at low prices as well as having all the right-handed bows available. I would definitely get a lefty bow and see if you can consistently shoot it well.

That's what I'm thinking. Get a used lefty and try it out for awhile. Of course my girlfriend didn't like the look on my face or the idea that I'll have to have bows for left as well.
4dogs, I know about missed chances could have used a dual shelf last fall on a doe.

If you shoot instinctive eye dominance doesn't matter so much does it. If I notice anything other than the small spot my shots spread. I tried a test one time I heard of where you put a small white spot on dark background and put a dim light on it in the dark and shoot at it. I shot pretty good in the dark so what style of shooting you do probably has a lot to do with it. I would like to have one of those dual shelf bows.
