Title: Widow stops a pre- garden strike
Post by: Hooper on July 06, 2011, 05:32:00 AM
I had just came in the house last evening from shooting my bow and just happen to look out the kitchen window and see this guy feeding along the garden fence. I sneaked out the front door and around the house and took a shot at about 16 yrds. This is my first chuck with the bow.

Use to hunt "Whisle Pigs" in Virginia during the late 60's early 70's with my Wing Thunderbird. Great fun. Farmers liked it to. Those things can do a lot of damage in a hurry. You done good my man.

Mighty fine shot ! I have one eyeing up my garden but so far hasn't been very brave , I think he's waiting for things to grow a little more .

Ain't nuttin wrong with eating ground hog! They're vegetarians!

Just look for hard marbly grey "fat" deposits under each of 4 legs and two between the shoulders... they're some sort of gland...and stink!

I did up a big ole sow my grandad made me clean and grandma cooked up at 14. It weight a whoppin 23# on the bathroom scale... so who knows for sure!

Clean critters and decent meat... we par-boiled 30 min on low w/ parsley and onion, then cooled, breaded and baked in oven like "shake n bake" and "Ah, halped" (gotta be 50 to remember that commercial!)  :)
