I found this gem in a garage sale sale yesterday. A Bear Cub double self. Very clean, with original leather grip in pretty good shape. After some research here it looks like a 1956-57, since it has silk screens. It is 43#@28", I draw 27" so do you guys think some 40-45# spine woodies would work? What length string? It is 62" bow. Oh and I got it for the new 1957 price of $25.00 (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c223/madtox/IMG_4866.jpg) (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c223/madtox/IMG_4869.jpg) (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c223/madtox/IMG_4867.jpg)

Good find. Wish I could get that lucky.
40-45 long maybe 35-40.
58-59" string
-
40-45# spine should be good, cut to 28 inches BOP with 125 grain point. 5/16 shafts would fit the bill nicely. Agree on string length. Probably 59 inches.

Great find. wife killed her first deer with one just like it only it was 32#.

GREAT FIND!

Great Find. I just sold one Identical to it.
I used a 59" string and shot 50-55 woodies through it. 125 Grain up front and the shafts were 29 BOP.
Definitely a good bow

Great find right there! That kinda luck happens but a few times in life.

Nice!
How come I never find such items at garage sales
-
Awesome! I came across a Polar a couple years ago on Craigslist that was in pristine condition. Got it for $65, sold it for $240. Somehow I met up with a great seller and then a great buyer...

My mother in law used to make a sport of going to yard sales. All her grandkids were clothed by them and never thought a thing of it. If I asked her to find me something it was just a mater of time.
Congratulations, shoot it in good health!

Seems 59" would be correct on the string as already mentioned.Great deal and who knows you mat have more in the string!
-
Nice! Rule of thumb for strings is subtract 4 inches from amo. Figure to start with 58". If you would like, I may be able to twist up a string for you. PM me and we can talk!

Great find. 58" string. 40-45 should be ok.
