well I've been waiting for week 8 and finally went back to week 7 to see who the winner was and send them a pm...but the winner was me... oops, sorry to keep you waiting.
this week will be 4 arrows from 12 yd
comfortably standing
sitting on chair
sitting on ground
lying on back
-
and practice shots are allowed
-
man I hope my strings come in today....
-
:clapper: :jumper:
:archer2: I love it! I'm ready! Let's go!!!
...in a little while when it's cooler.
-
Here is my late week 7:
First arrow a line-cut 8 x2 for 16
Second arrow a big time 4 for a running total of 20
Finally, a bulls-eye for 10 and total of 30

Osage, quick question, which arrow shafts are those?
Thanks very much!
-
those shafts are fairly old and were given to me. they are fluted and the writing on them is: CAE X-Caliber II 2212
-
I got my strings last night!! So I'll get caught up today when the temp drops.
-
Major heat wave up here in northern MN. Today is to be the hottest so far.........not shooting today.
I need some pics of people shooting lying on their backs. Just can't figure it out and I'm having "issues" w/ that position.
Maybe it's because I'm a lefty??? LOL
Thanks!
Brian

Brian I sent you a link through a PM. The biggest thing I found was following a tip from Mudd. I used a big deep hook in my string grip. As the hand rotated, it kept my arrow from falling off the shelf.
-
Thanks for the advice Osage61!!!
I couldn't bear sitting in the house all day, so I got out and did some shooting on my back.
Temps in the low 90's, 70%+ humidity, and a heat index around 105.......YUCK!!!
Thanks for the video tip! If a picture is worth 1,000 words......a video must be worth at the minimum 1,000,000.
Here's a pic of the 3rd or 4th group I shot from my back at 12 yds.

It is way too hot out to be shooting anything other than my shots...no practice just get it done!
I did mine in reverse order. I wanted to get the hardest one out of the way 1st.
The one closest to the center was my 1st shot laying on my back. They kind of went down hill from there...lol
God bless,Mudd

So with practice you can shoot at the target plate as many times as you want and submit the best score??

I don't think that is the intent. The way I play it is I'll shoot a couple warm-ups at something else, or an old plate. But when I am ready, I commit to one clean plate, hang it, shoot it, and photograph it. There have been a couple of stinkers, but good to put a little pressure on self and I think that's being fair.
Just my $.02.

OK folks here's a couple of catch-ups to week 7 including belated response *apologies* to trick00 and his sons. I'll score week 8 this weekend. Great shooting all--the further we go, the behinder I get!

Yeah, that's what I do, too. I just do what I do when I'm hunting. I'll shoot a couple of arrows at something, then shoot at the plate. Of course, I do usually shoot a few arrows at other times of the day. For the contest, though. I'll go out, shoot a couple of practice shots, then have at it. I don't think it's in the spirit of the contest to shoot 10 different groups and pick the best one.
Now, it looks like I better get my act together and start shooting better. This Giff character is charging hard!
-
Okay, I just shot a 28.
Shot 1, standing at 12 yards. 10. Perfect center punch.
Shot 2, sitting at 12 yards. 10. Line-cutter.
Shot 3, sitting on butt in wet grass. 8. Line-cutter
Shot 4, laying on back in wet grass. Big Fat Zero. And, to add insult to injury, on the back shot, the arrow went through a soft spot in my hay bale and clanged off through the woods.
I think I could have shot better, if I'd have made a practice shot or 2 from my back, but I hate that shot, so I didn't, and I'm willing to accept the consequences, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
I can't find the memory card for my camera, so: (in my best soup nazi voice) No pics for you!

Ok after a long break I'm back. On my "break" I've made some pretty big form changes (if you want to see its in the shooters forum), and haven't had the chance to work on a bridge program. I was just really wanting to get caught up again so I shot anyways. Here we go-
Round 4- I laid down today to practice this shot and the arrow came off my string just before I shot, so you guessed it....dry fire.... 0 for round four
Round 5- This was actually the round I started with. Put me down for a blazing 12 :knothead:
Round 6- This one was right up my alley cause I do all my hunting from the ground on my knees. Put me down for a 28
Round 7- This was harder than I thought. Glad we were able to practice it first. I shot a 22 this round
And finally round 8- Put me down for a 16.
Shot 1= 6
Shot 2= 6
Shot 3= 4
Shot 4= 0 didn't even try it after the dry fire
It was fun being able to participate again. I did learn one thing after shooting this morning. After making form adjustments. Start out with bridge program LOL o well. Good shooting everybody!

Just making sure.I do it same way either no practice at all or a few shots into my foam target and then put the plate up and shoot it then photograph.
-
I was shooting several rounds a picking my best score the last couple of rounds. I will go back to just a few practice shots then posting my score.

The back porch thermometer reads 105 and this is in the shade BTW.
12 yds standing - 10
12 yds sitting on stool - 8
12 yds sitting on ground - 6
12 yds lying on back - 0
total = 24
Three warm up shots standing. And I hope it's ok that it was a block target instead of a chair that I sat on.

Ol' fallin' behind Brett scored a decent round. I got lucky twice--with a 10 on the sit-down, and with hitting the target on the lie-down! Practiced and then committed to one plate (as described earlier). 28. That liner six at 11 o'clock with the huge tear...LOL was the lying down one. Haha some paper-tune, huh?

Here is my week 8 entry. I normally shoot my round on a clean plate, but I didn't have another one with the circles marked on it, and I was in a hurry this morning.
First shot was an 8. Second shot was a 6. Third shot was a line cutting 6. Most unbelievably, the lying down shot was a 10. 30 for me this week.
I also wanted to show off my new laced leather grip thanks to instructions in the latest TBM. :)
-
That IS a sweet-looking grip. And great shooting xbmedic! What a thrill to make a great shot from such a challenging position! :notworthy:
-
I shot an 8, 8, 4, 4 for a 24, but cant find my camera
-
If I'd had my nifty little plastic tab that I was using before I might have atleast hit the target on that lay down shot. But I was already in half draw when I thought about it and decided "what the heck, let her fly".
-
Four practice holes :p then....
First arrow is an 8
second arrow is an 8
third for 6
and fourth for 4
Total 26.

As of this post, xbmedic is leading Wk 8 with a 30. Looper is out in-front overall. I've only got seven week 8 scores so I'll wait until later to post the spreadsheet. A bunch of guys still need to shoot and post! It must be the heat
-
Looks like xbmedic wins with a 30 unless somebody gets thier score in soon. There were a couple of 28's. Good shooting everyone!
This nasty heat has got participation down I think.
BTW, I'm not trying to act like the official scorer or anything. Just checking the scores and thought I would bring it to the top with this.
-
Here's a belated week 8 for Adam and me:
Adam 16; Bjorn 20
-
I will try to get my score in by Monday.
-
Yep, this heat is miserable. It's bad enough having to work in it. I just can't bring myself to go out and shoot, except at night, and even then, not for long.
I think the next shoot should be an indoor shot. I think I could shoot about 12 yards. :)
-
Good idea looper!
-
me too
-
It`s terribly hot.I just don`t want to go out in the heat to do much of anything.Went to the lake for the weekend.I`ll get my score in soom hopefully.I don`t know about everyone but I can`t manage a indoor shot.
-
How about a nighttime shoot? Candlelight? Anyone else ever shot a coon shoot?
-
I've been doing most of mine at night anyway, by porch light. I've been having a hard time seeing my lines, so I'm just aiming for the center of the plate.
Can everyone shoot 20-25 yards? or do we need to keep it at 15 and under?
-
a nite shoot sounds cool
-
Sorry for the late post! (I'm a west-coaster y'know). Let's call it for xbmedic this week and his choice to setup the next scenario.

I have a quick question, can anyone not make a 20yd shot? I will post this weeks challenge tonight after I give a chance for responses.
-
Ok what's the measurement between the lines, can you play catch up, just saw this
