Although not a trophy, I'm proud non the less. Afetr target shooting awhile tonight I got the unsatisfied feeling of having to wait til October for bow season to start. I really dont have a good place for groundhogs here so I figured I'd improvize.
I started roaming my backyard and shooting at bees. I got my first one after about a dozen shots and my second one right after. The third took a few more tries. Not too bad 3 for 24. The shots ranged from 3 ft to the furthest kill at 12 feet.

-
Hehe funny stuff.
-
Wow! that is some good shooting right there.
-
Must have been a honey of a shot! So, just how hard is it to track a wounded bee? And when you measure distances, do you measure in bee-yards or people yards?
:clapper:
-
I see you "winged" him!?? Very nice shooting!
-
That's some dang good shootin', no matter how close/far you are!!

I remember my first butterfly he required a second finishing shot, them guys are tough!
Dunno if I'd risk taking on one of them guys without carrying a back up firearm.
-

Someone on another site just informed me that honeybees numbers were declining. I had no idea. He seemed sincere. Anyone here have any info. I feel bad if I do something unethical but of course I probably kill more with my riding mower. My shooting just aint that good.
-
Just heard on the other site that he was correct. I can honestly say I never killed a thing I didnt intend to eat until now. Was it the newness of the sport or was it something primal? I cannot say.
For those who were aware of the declining population of honey bees I apologize. I will refrain from shooting anymore of them. Sorry. :(

AIM SMALL < MISS SMALL!!!

Shoulder mount or full mount . Good shot.
-
A complete pass through. Good penetration. Heavy FOC?
-
I don't see a leg tag. How did you haul him to the check station?
-
Where's your tag? I don't see a leg tag & it's obvious you move the carcass prior to tagging.
-

Kevin, don't appologize to us here, we are all kindred spirit.
Check my response on Bowsite. Some of us got your back and won't put someone down just to make ourselves feel better.
Good luck in the upcoming deer season!

Watched a TV special on the 'hive disorder" or whatever it's called... the research team thought it was a cataclysmic combo of mites, infection and a 3rd factor I can't remember.
When whole hives go missing, one bee isn't a catastrophe. There is nothing they've found to stop it.
They showed folks in Europe hand pollenating olive trees and fruit trees...talk about labor intensive!
That is an amazing feat right there and you should apologize to nobody! Thanks for sharing!
I won't tempt you :) by saying you probably can't do it again... so did you get him on the "wing" or sitting? :) :)
-
"They showed folks in Europe hand pollenating olive trees and fruit trees...talk about labor intensive!"
Doc, hand pollenating? I just got this vision of workers rubbing dead bees on olive and fruit trees! LOL
-
Everything taste better on a Ritz!!!!! :goldtooth: :dunno: :nono: ...diffently a kill shot...
-
wow, I didnt see a tag on it. Have fun tying it on....
-
I have to be honest and tell you I shot them sitting. Quite a feat for me. I should probably try some wing shooting, surely my success rate would drop alot.
-
Good shooting Kevin.
-
sweet shooting Kevin! are you heading up to Denton?
-
Hope to go up Sat morning.
