Title: Which Trail Camera????

I need some advice on a good camera,battery life,and function.

Reasonably priced,and good quality.

I've tried a bunch over years. The newer little bushnell - not sure of model takes fantastic pictures and has great battery life AA's easy to set up and is the best for under $200.00 I've tried.

If you're on a tight budget, the Wildgame Innovations x6c is a great camera for around $100. I picked one up a couple months ago and am thoroughly impressed by the picture quality. Not a single black or whiteout, and the battery life seems reasonable... Plus it's damn near small enough to fit in your pocket. (not quite, but close)

I can't imagine a better camera for the money.

primos 35.for the money,great pics easy to use has time,moon phase,temp.about 100 bucks.Did i mention it was easy too use.

I just picked up a Moultre D55IR from Dunhams. I saw a special on the net for 84.99 so I printed the coupon and bought on last nite. Set it out back on got two pics of a lone Doe. I still need to play with it but for the price you cant beat it.

Many threads on "Trail Camera" do a search to check them out. I've used or had exposure to most of them and the DLC Coverts are hard to beat. I will say the trail camera is becoming very popular and companies are making much needed improvements each year. This year is no exception. Prices are dropping as well as the many makers are trying to compete.

I like the cameras that use AA batteries and the lithium blue energizers last four times longer than the normal batteries. Believe me it is well worth it to pay for them as each time batteries run out you have to reset the cameras not to mention changing batteries often is a hassle. It is very disappointing to walk up to a camera that has been out for a while and you find the batteries are dead and you have very few picts.

There are different levels of quality as well. Pay a little more and you can get some really nice photos with a properly set up camera. Even Covert has different levels of quality and price ranges to choose from in their cameras. Here are some examples of the quality levels.

I've had real good luck with the Bushnells as well.Mine are the 2010 model which a few places have on sale now for $150.

TJ's right about using the AA Lithiums.  That's all I use in my compact cameras and Garmin GPS on western hunts.  NOTE: Have your ID ready if you buy too many lithiums in my area as the authorities are on the lookout for their use in producing METH.  I know a few Wal-Marts that have stopped selling lithium batteries altogeher.  Luckily I can still buy them at a good price bulk at my local Sams Club.

StealthCam I 530 is a great buy @ 80.00. only drawback is you cant preview images on the cam, got to take out the card and put in a new one or bring a laptop with a usb cable. battery life is great- it uses 6 "C" cells.

Go to  http://www.trailcampro.com/  it'll tell you everything you need to know about all the trail cameras on the market.  My choice is the Bushnell Trophy Cam.  It takes great pictures, can take video, and with lithium batteries has a long battery life.  Hope this helps, TRW.

I have some Wildview Xtreme 5 trailcams you can get a two pack for $150 or so. They do take good pic.Battery like is ok.

Has anyone tried the 6 Day Plot Watcher Trail Cameras ?  They take a pic every 5 or 10 seconds without needing an animal to activate it.  They only work during daylight hours, but you can watch a whole days worth of pics in just a couple of minutes.  They seem great for watching a field or large area.  I'm thinkin' of gettin' one.

I have 2 of the Bushnell Trophy Cams and they take great day photos and videos.  The night photos and videos are not that great.  But AVOID the Stealth Can "Unit". I bought one of those because it recorded sound with the videos and it's a POS.  It eats batteries (lithium) and the fails to take photos and videos.

How beneficial is an infrared flash?  Does anyone have enough experience with both a normal flash and IR to say, with reasonable certainty, that the IR is worth the cost due to spooking game, better pics with IR, etc?

There's nothing like a bright flash to let someone know there's a camera there. I prefer IR just for that little bit of added security.
