Wow Daydreamer, you took the words out of my mouth (or off my key board)  ;)    Every time one of these threads come up I vote for Mark's book as it is usually one of the least mentioned, and in my opinion, one of the best I have ever read.

So I'll go with another one of Mark's books - "searching for the Wild"

Nostalgic Lore of the Bow by Don and Dave McKeller.  Simply wonderful in its own right and one of the best trad
Books ever.  Just got an autographed copy to read to my 9 and 7 year olds!

Day Dreamer & Whip, Thanks for mentioning Autum Leaves A Bowhunter's Life. It had been a long time since I'd read it - searched through my bookcases and found the book.  A very good read!
