Pictures of beautiful Big Jim Thunderchilds, that is.
Jim finished up my bow just before he left town for a week or so, and I got it in the mail yesterday. Great attention to detail.

As alot of my friends know, I have been anticipating this bow for some time now. Big Jim has recently changed his wait time from 6 month to 10 months. If he made it 12 months, I think that it would be well worth it. I won't bore you with shot pictures, but let's just say that the bow does it's job and then some. Very quiet and smooth. Everyone has their own opinions, and I will give my honest ones.
I think that he did a great job on the moose antler overlays, with very smooth transitions. For MY taste, the veneers are the nicest that I have ever seen, period. That includes the ones that are posted on Big Jim's site. I asked for very highly figured tiger myrtle and that is just what I got. The takedown system is tight, with no noise and is very convenient and I love the beavertail wrap that is very well done. The riser is made just as I asked and is beautiful.
If I had to do it over again, the only thing that I would change is that I would have asked for darker colored laminations on the riser to go along with the Zircote. I hope that everyone else will be as pleased with their bows when they get them as I am. I don't think that there is another bow out there for the money that can touch this.

Heck, I'm still trying to figure out this lefthanded thing, lol. Thanks for all of the kind words. I shot it again tonight, and I am still loving it. I think that for the upcoming season I am going to start shooting primarily this bow and my new shrew safari. I will still mess with the others (so they don't get lonely), but I really think that I want to use this bow for hogs in the winter/spring and probably out of a treestand this fall for deer. I gotta get it on a scale, though. It shoots with more authority than I would expect for the poundage that it is supposed to be. I feel really confident that it is up to the task for some hogs.

Beautiful bow, congrats.
-
VERY NICE!!

Very nice, that Jim guy don't make no ugly bows. The 2 buffalo's I own our great shooters too. I'm on the list for a third buffalo I have to give him a call and see when I should make up my mind on all the great woods he has to offer

Pat, congrats!! Heard from Jim myself and am expecting my TC to be started in about a week. Have been patient but your post has made me about to come unglued. Enjoy your beauty. Todd

Actually, Pat shoots pretty darn well right-handed. He shot my bows and was doing almost as well with them as I do. I couldn't even begin to pull his monster weight bows left-handed and had trouble drawing one of his "light" bows right-handed (and of course could not shoot it that way). Pat is a very talented archer!
Pat -- I do like that TC and wish I could shoot it. Maybe I could shoot a 50# bow left-handed, but I know I could at least draw it right-handed. It is for sure a beauty with that lovely myrtle and moose antler.

Another BIG JIM Masterpiece. I call DIBBS Buddy!!
-
He just doesn't make an ugly one, does he? That's a beauty, for sure.
-
Allan, when we get together again you will have to give it a try. I've seen comparisons in the past between the classic hunter and the thunderchild, and they are both great bows but nothing alike at all IMHO.
Barry, we've got to get together for some shooting. I can't stand the thought of all of your lefties gathering dust.
-
Pat you need to get up here in Ohio and cool off when you shoot your bows. And bring some of your pretty bows too.
-
I do! especially when they are lefty's.
nice bow

WOW, THAT IS A LOOKER!!!!
