Hey everyone!
Been shooting for around a week or so now and have read up on the sport extensively. I still feel like an infant to this though and am down to learn more lol.
Wanted to ask: Does the bow suffer anything from being strung and unstrung a few days out of every week? I imagine not but I dunno.
And I know its important but I wasnt given a nocking point or anything to indicate it so I just have a mental image of one on my string (90 degrees and just a bit higher than the rest). Is this correct?
My first and current bow is the Bear Grizzly Recurve 58 inches and 45lbs..Im "guessing" im a 30inch draw since my wingspan is 75'' almost 75 1/2''
Please and thank you!

Shouldn't hurt bow to be strung as lomg as it's not in the heat.
nock point could be up to 3/4" above center. You shoot split finger or three under?
Take a clothes pin and place on arrow to measure your actual draw. It will help.

At the moment im shooting 3 under cause I am goofing off when I accidentally budge the arrow and whatnot.
You put the clothes pin at the base of the nock I believe? and draw back till base of the arrow head is at the front edge of arrow rest? Folks in another post were telling me I may be drawing back too far lol. Gotta put a vid up in that post later

Place the clothes pin a few inches in front of the point then draw to a comfortable anchor point while letting the pin ride down the shaft touching the front of your riser. Then measure from the throat of the nock to the pin.
Your nock point will be determined by arrow flight. Some good starter threads on here.
Are you anchoring at the corner of your mouth with your middle finger?
Don't be surprised if this thread is moved to the shooters forum.

When you say in front of the point you mean you go to the tip of the arrow, at the field tip in my case, and go down the shaft a few inches?
Cool, lucky me the arrows are landing pretty straight. At the corner yep. I try to use my back muscles by keeping my elbow pointing more to the rear than the side but I fee like Im pinching my shoulder blades.
Yeah Im uploading a video tomorrow or sunday hopefully on a topic at the shooters forum but thanks rob! I got to get busy lol.

Yeah field tip end. Stick it on there and draw comfortably. Where the clothes pin stops should get you close.
I'm sure you will get everything staightened out in no time with all the good people on here.

where in FL are you located?
-
I am in Hialeah, Florida so I'm kind of in trouble considering everything related to archery is either way north or way south of my location lol.

You need to get a nock point on your string, there are instructions for that in the how to section here i think.Helps to have a bow square so you have a starting place for the noc set. Some people use just one above the arrow noc and a lot use one above and another below just not so close together that it pinches the arrow when you draw back. If you can find someone close to you that already shoots it will be a big help in getting started the right was so you dont have to un-learn bad habits later.

Dunno if you'd be surprised to hear this, shakes, but this is indeed one of the kindest forums better yet one of the kindest places I've ever been to on the internet lol. I mean I get on and I see my responses to questions and think "wtf is going on XD" since most folks seem to be more negative than any.
Anyways, I'm hoping the Lone Ranger gentleman has some good news for me, maybe I'll end up being someones student rofl

If you are drawing that 58" Grizzly to 30"s it is most likely close to 53-54#s as they gain about 4#s an inch past 28.5"s. That is a long draw for that bow. You can use a piece of tape for a nock point for now until you find where you need it. Shawn
