I have a "bow-bolt" shrew. This is a really solid thing, you dont in any way notice it is there when shooting... Mine was done when being built, but you can retro fit the bow-bolt to most bows... not something i would like to try myself, you need some big cajones to saw a bow in two!   :scared:      :scared:

But if you are good at that kinda thing he has instrucyions and pics on his web page....

I saw an artical in Tra-Archer last year, don't remember the issue and not at home right now, but it was a how-to on a Fox one peace being coverted to a two peace by using a sleeve.  You might check their web page for the back issue or someone here might remember.

I had the sleeve takedown in a bow several years ago. The one thing I didn't like about it was when you draw the arrow back, you would hear the metal clicking together. I did everything to try to fix this. I finally sold the bow.

Jack Harrison converts one piece longbows to two piece takedowns. You should get in touch with him.

I believe Jack also sells a video on how to do it.

I would be interested in having a bow bolt installed in a bow I have.  Will be watching this thread.  What system does Jack Harrison use?

Jay St Charles sells the sleeve for 35.00 and Raptor Archery does too. Jay has a tutorial somewhere on his site. He does not recommend doing it to an existing bow. I did this one with an existing bow using the sleeve

Looks nice in pictures but I don't recommend it with a bow you like.

I don't do 2 piece conversions.  Some bowyers do build bows using them with good success, and others have had issues with bows breaking.

All depends on the riser design, woods and laminations used, etc. I know at least one bowyer that won't build a two piece out of anything but phenolic risers. Others say that adding layers of phenolic between strong woods will work.  Bottom line I think is it just depends....

I'm sure some bows can be converted without problems, but I don't think every one piece bow is a candidate.  Bowyers can build prototypes to try different things and find out what can work and what won't.  I can't afford to experiment on customers bows, so haven't gotten into two piece conversions.

Here is a picture of the carbon takedown system Jack uses. It is very light and actually makes the bow feel as light or lighter than if it were a one piece.

Jack can be reached through his website. He lists his email address and phone number there.

The dull area at the bottom of the male part of the takedown is wax lubricant not wear. I can take additional pictures if you want to see different angles and bows with this system.

Brad you and me both. I love those Harrison longbows and have a nice collection. When I am done collecting I intend to donate them to the University of Missouri for their collection or back to Jack's daughter.

You ought to contact Jack to see about getting yours converted. If you are handy you can ask to buy one of his videos on how to do it. I have the video and he makes it look very easy.
