Shooting a 60" psax..53@28 ..3 under with axis 500 and 200 up front
I tried it with a ff string and it was fairly loud and everything showed weak bareshafting. The bow also came with a b50. I decided to try it to kill performance some to bring my arrows in spine and also use it to quieten it. Both worked well..but I can notice a difference in overall performance..I killed it also.
Here is my question : would an sbd 8 strand keep the bow as quiet as the b50 and help return some of the performance?

TJ-I just replaced the string on my BW with a SBD 6 strand, and it is shooting great! I feel it picked up 3-5 fps and is very quiet! It turned out good for me.

Fountain, I have found that an 8 strand D 97 with padded loops works best for me. I am also shooting 53lbs and 3 under but with some carbon express heritage 150's. I would definitely give it a try. I also have industrial velcro on the string grooves. My bow is very quiet.

I have liked the 8 strand Astroflight strings on the Widows I have owned more than the stock strings.
I am sure the 6 strand D-10 from SBD would be good and the 8 strand is worth considering for longterm durability.

My PCH likes 450+. I tried different FF string material and like you went to B50 in an attempt to quiet mine but it really slowed it down.
I went with 450+, hush puppies and bow hush. I'm very happy with the performance and it's very quiet.

I shot a 8 strand D97 on a SAV with Bow Hush and whoolie wisps,I would get comments on how quiet it was.

A friend of mine got a new BW recurve in recently. We replaced the stock string with a padded loop Dynaflight '97, 12 strands with 18 in the loops. Huge difference in noise--much quieter with the padded loop string.

In my small amount of experience, I find that noise with a BW CAN BE largely related to brace height. They are not the quietest bows by any means, but you can normally quiet them down considerably with the proper brace height. Oh and throw away those spider silencers. Use good old beaver balls, yarn, or something else. I have also installed some velcro on the limbs (string grooves and about 3" beyond) on BW recurves to quiet them down. Good luck.

I put 8 strand D-97 SBD on a PSA and 8 strand D-10 on a PCH, and both were much quieter than factory strings.
